IND vs AUS: Fans praise Ravindra Jadeja for his brilliant 5 wickets during India vs Australia 1st test: India vs Australia’s four-match test series began with a lot of noise around the pitches as the spinning tracks, according to a few, are more “doctored” than natural surfaces. However, day one of the IND vs AUS 1st test in Nagpur gave a befitting reply to all those voices that focused on the pitch rather than the teams and their strategies. The first day of the test cricket between India and Australia saw a bit of each aspect of the game, including swing and spin, as Australia got rocked by the Indian bowlers, especially Ravindra Jadeja, who scalped five wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja, on his return to international cricket after a hiatus of five months, scalped five crucial wickets on day one of the 1st test between India and Australia.
The left-arm spinner returned with a figure of 5/47 and ensured Australia’s wrap on the opening day of the test. Focused Marnus Labuschagne, who was batting brilliantly, became Jadeja’s first wicket as the batter was stumped by debutant Srikar Bharat one shy of his half-century. Subsequently, in the very next delivery, Ravindra Jadeja trapped Matthew Renshaw leg before wicket and the batter was out for a golden duck.
The two wickets from the all-rounder came in shortly after lunch and the momentum again shifted towards the home side as the Aussies were reduced to 84 in the loss of four wickets.
Jadeja made well-set Steve Smith his third prey as the spinner castled through Smith’s defence. Smith went back to the pavilion after scoring 37 runs from 107 deliveries. These three wickets from Jadeja set the tempo for the Indian bowlers to wrap up the Australian innings in a quick span.
To complete his 11th five-wicket haul, the all-rounder got rid of debutant Todd Murphy for a duck followed by a crucial scalp of Peter Handscomb, who was batting at a score of 31 from 84 deliveries.
Jadeja’s scintillating bowling show in Nagpur along with the contributions from Mohammad Siraj, Shami and R Ashwin helped team India bundle Australia at a score of 177 in 63.5 overs.
Notably, this was Jadeja’s first international appearance after a long injury layoff which he suffered during the Asia Cup 2022. His straight away splendid performance has gained massive praise from fans and cricket experts all-round the world.
Here are a few reactions of fans, who hailed Ravindra Jadeja following a memorable comeback to the Indian test side against Australia on day one of the Nagpur Test.
