IND vs AUS: Indian Cricket Team ticket almost every box right in the Asia Cup 2023. They batted and bowled magnificently and outclassed the oppositions with their staggering performance. They thumped Sri Lanka by a massive margin in the final and won their eighth title.
While they ticket almost every box, one of the areas of concern for them was Shreyas Iyer. They suffered a back spasm ahead of the Super Four game against Pakistan and the Indian team made a last-minute change, bringing in KL Rahul in place of Iyer.
It was expected that a two-day rest would be enough for the KKR captain to get fit. But as it turned out, Shreyas Iyer was deemed unfit for the rest of the games. This raised quite a few eyebrows as he recently recovered from a back injury and made a comeback into the Indian team during the first game of the Asia Cup 2023.
Shreyas Iyer played the first game against Pakistan and looked good to the eyes. He played crisp shots but unfortunately couldn’t convert his start. He scored 14 runs and then also took the field in the game against Nepal. But felt discomfort in his back ahead of the game against Pakistan in Super Four.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, Shreyas Iyer was seen as the ideal No.4 for the Indian team for the ICC World Cup 2023. However, not it seems uncertain as Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul took their chances. But the upcoming IND vs AUS series will be an ideal opportunity for Iyer to stake his claim back in the team.
With the IND vs AUS series around the corner, captain Rohit Sharma provided a huge update on the fitness of Shreyas Iyer. He revealed that the batter has gone through various fitness parameters and is 99% fit.
“Shreyas Iyer has ticked 99% of various parameters that were set for him. He’ll be ready to go now”.
