World Cup 2023 is now over but still, it is a tough pill to swallow that we ended up on the wrong side. Now, after the lights are off the World Cup 2023 where Australia lifted the title for 6th time, attention is shifted towards the 5-match T20I series. As BCCI has made way from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the shortest format of cricket, there is comparatively a younger India Squad selected for the Australia T20I series.
Every player who was a part of the World Cup 2023 campaign is rested for this series except for the skipper Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. Surya didn’t have an impressive outing in the past couple of weeks but he will definitely want to capitalize on every moment he lives on that square.
Initially, Hardik Pandya was the favorite to captain India, however, Suryakumar Yadav will take over as captain owing to Pandya’s unavailability due to a left-ankle ligament damage sustained during the ODI World Cup 2023. Previously, during this year’s West Indies series, Yadav was the T20 vice-captain.
BCCI released an advisory quoting, “The Men’s Selection Committee announced the squad for the upcoming IDFC First Bank 5-match T20I series against Australia scheduled to start from 23rd November 2023 in Visakhapatnam.“
India Squad For T20I Series Against Australia
The India Squad includes some IPL finds like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Verma. Jitesh Sharma also made it to the squad as the only wicketkeeping option. Unfortunate for Sanju Samson again as he had yet to discover the selection formula.
The team added Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube as all-rounder options followed by a strong bowling unit that includes Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and only spinner Ravi Bishnoi.
