In the Super four stage, they bagged two massive wins. They thumped Pakistan by a massive margin of 228 runs and then followed it up with a 41-run win over Sri Lanka. Their wins in the Asia Cup 2023 have given them a fair chance to be the No.1 ranked team in ODIs.

For India to become the No.1 ranked team in ODIs, they first need to win the IND vs BAN encounter. After that, they will have to win the final as well. This will put them well up the ranks and increase their rating, which is currently 116.

However, they would want some other results to go their way apart from winning two games. India would be hoping Pakistan, who are currently the No.1 ranked side, to lose to Sri Lanka in their next encounter on Thursday (14th September). Apart from this, they would also want Australia to lose their last two games against South Africa.

Australia and South Africa are currently locking horns in the five-match ODI series. The series currently stands at 2-1 with Australia in the lead. The Proteas made a strong comeback after losing the first two games.

India will become the No.1 Ranked ODI team if:

– India win Vs Bangladesh and win Asia Cup Final.

– Pakistan lose to Sri Lanka.

– Australia lose their remaining two ODIs against South Africa.
