IND vs ENG: England announces playing 11 for first ODI against India in Nagpur, Joe Root returns

England Cricket Team has announced the playing XI for the first ODI against India. The three-match series between the teams is all set to be played from 6th February at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The last two games will be played on 9th and 12th February, respectively, in Cuttack and Ahmedabad. 

England, who lost the T20I series by the margin of 4-1, have announced the strong XI for the first match of the IND vs ENG ODI series. Joe Root has made his return to the team for the first time after the ICC World Cup 2023. The premier didn't play a single ODI after the tournament and would want to make an impact. 

Ben Duckett will be opening the innings alongside Phil Salt in the first IND vs ENG ODI. The duo opened the innings in the T20I series as well but couldn't make the impact they wanted. It will be a great opportunity for them to get some runs under their belt and help the team stage a comeback. 

Joe Root will be batting at No.3 while Harry Brook has been slated to bat at No.3. The vice-captain of the England team struggled in the T20I series as he slammed just one half-century in the five games. He also was trolled a lot for his smog statement and would be keen to reply to all the critics in style. 

Captain Jos Buttler has been drafted at N0.5 in the series and it is expected that he will keep the wickets. He was the only settled batter for England in the T20I series and would want to carry on his form in the IND vs ENG ODI series. 

Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell are the two all-rounders picked by England in the middle order. Along with him, Byron Carse will be there as a fast-bowling all-rounder. Adil Rashid is the frontline spinner in the team. He will be holding a key for the team on ODIs as he did in T20Is. 

Jofra Archer and Saqib Mahmood are the two frontline pacers in the team. The duo were decent with the ball in the IND vs ENG T20I series.
