IND vs ENG: India captain Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of achieving a massive milestone in Test cricket. The senior opening batter is just 199 runs away from unlocking 4000 runs in the longest format of the game for the Indian cricket team.
Rohit Sharma currently has 3801 runs to his name from 55 Test matches. The batter has an average of over 45 in the format and also has slammed 10 centuries and 16 half-centuries in his career so far. Ever since he started opening in the format, he has been a different beast altogether.
Rohit Sharma would be hoping to achieve the feat of 4000 runs in the second IND vs ENG Test. The match between the teams will be played from 3rd February in Vishakhapatnam. England lead the series 1-0 after their 28-run win in the first match.
Rohit Sharma looked in solid touch in both innings of the first IND vs ENG game but failed to convert the start he got. He scored 24 runs in the first innings and then followed it up with a 39-run knock on the second innings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
If India has to fancy their chances of winning the second IND vs ENG game, Rohit Sharma will have to play a huge role for the team. Also with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the second game, it will be an added responsibility for the skipper.
