IND vs PAK: After Indian Captain Rohit Sharma was retired-hurt in the India vs Ireland clash on June 05, a fresh injury has mounted on the concerns for the Indian side prepping to take on Pakistan in the coming days. Reportedly, Rohit Sharma has copped a fresh blow during the team's practice session on Friday.
As per the reports, Rohit Sharma was hit on his finger while facing a throwdown during the team's practice session. The incident happened on Friday (June 08) due to the awkward bounce on the surface, which is around five miles away from the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
Rohit Sharma copped a blow on his glove and was immediately attended by Team India's physio. The Indian opener then changed the ends to face the throwdown for a few more minutes before he walked off the ground.
As per the reports, Virat Kohli also faced similar issues with the invariable bounce on the surface. However, fortunately, he didn't suffer any blows during his training sessions on Friday.
Rohit Sharma-led Team India is set to clash with Babar Azam-led Pakistan on June 09 at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York. The high-octane clash is set to begin at 8:00 PM IST.
BCCI has lodged an unofficial complaint with ICC
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has meanwhile, reportedly, protested for the substandard pitches being used at the Nassau International Stadium. The cricket board raised an unofficial complaint post the injury scare to its players while undergoing the training session.
Earlier, the apex cricket board acknowledged the use of poor pitches and below-par outfield in the fixtures between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
"The pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted," said ICC in a statement earlier.
It added that the team of experts is employed to take the corrective measures to deliver the best possible playing conditions to the teams in the T20 World Cup 2024.
"The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday's game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches," it added.
