IND vs PAK World Cup 2023: In the latest turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah informed that the ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule could be changed after a couple of ICC full member nations have expressed their concerns.
The date for the marquee IND vs PAK fixture is likely to be shifted forward, but, the venues of the fixtures would remain the same. The IND vs PAK game is originally slated to be held on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Notably, IND vs PAK is not the only change that could be made in the already announced ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule. There will be a few other games as well that will be shifted due to the domino effect.
“We have received requests from 2-3 ICC member boards participating in the World Cup to make some changes to the schedule,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told reporters after a meeting with the ten staging associations in Delhi on Thursday. “What’s important for us is we don’t have to make any change in venues.”
It’s important to note that, earlier, the security forces had advised BCCI not to stage IND vs PAK fixture on October 15 in Ahmedabad as the date marks the first day of Navratri, a festival which is widely celebrated across the state. In such a situation, it would become a security headache for the police forces.
However, Jay Shah refused to cite security concerns as the reason for the tweak in the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule.
As per the reports, efforts are being made to host the most anticipated IND vs PAK clash on October 14, which is one day prior to the previous schedule. The alternative dates for the fixtures are yet not announced by the BCCI and ICC.
A revised schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is likely to be rolled out in the next 2-3 days. Down below is the previous ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule:
