IND vs SA 2nd T20I: What an endgame we saw yesterday! South Africa made exactly the comeback, India did in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final in the last five overs.

It was a nail-biting showdown at St George’s Park, where South Africa kept their cool to edge out a victory in this low-scoring thriller! The match swang both ways several times and the Proteas managed to thrive when it mattered the most.

With this win, the series is at level and the last two T20Is will play as the deciders. The third T20I is scheduled for 13th November and the last T20I is set to be played on 15 November.

IND vs SA 2nd T20I Match Summary

South Africa again won the toss and opted to bowl first. India played with the same team as the first T20I while South Africa made a change in the form of Reeza Hendricks removing Kruger.

INDIA Innings- 124/6 (20 overs)

India’s innings got off to a rocky start as they lost Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav early on, leaving the team in a tough spot. The middle-order batters struggled to pick up the pace, with Tilak managing a steady but slow run-a-ball 20.

The team faced an uphill battle to rebuild their innings, but Axar Patel brought some firepower with an aggressive approach, only to be runout in a stroke of bad luck at the bowler’s end.

Rinku Singh wasn’t able to make a notable impact, but Hardik Pandya stepped in with a valuable late contribution that provided a glimmer of hope. Thanks to Pandya’s efforts, India managed to push past the 120-run mark, salvaging a total that gave their bowlers something to defend.

South Africa Innings- 128/7 (19 overs)

The Proteas showcased exceptional bowling, limiting India to a below-par score. Rickelton started with a few boundaries but was soon caught in the deep by Arshdeep. Chakaravarthy entered in the 5th over, quickly making his mark by dismissing Markram with a clever googly.

Chakaravarthy continued his impressive spell, dismissing Hendricks in his next over, taking advantage of the turn and grip on the pitch. South Africa attempted to turn the tide by promoting Jansen to No. 5, but he fell victim to Chakaravarthy’s mystery spin as well.

At the other end, Bishnoi bowled with discipline, adding to South Africa’s challenges. The crucial breakthrough came when Chakaravarthy removed Klaasen, keeping the pressure high. He struck again, bowling Miller on the very next delivery to secure his maiden 5-wicket haul in T20Is.

Chakaravarthy finished with remarkable figures of 5/17, leaving South Africa reeling. However, Stubbs found a reliable partner in Coetzee, who played aggressively. Together, they stitched a quick 42-run partnership off 20 balls, steering South Africa to victory with an over to spare.
