IND vs SA: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided a medical update on Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar ahead of the ODI and the Test series against South Africa. India will be taking on Proteas in three ODIs and two Tests over the course of the next 2-3 weeks.
India has suffered a major blow as Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the IND vs SA Test series. The fast bowler has been experiencing a discomfort in the ankle and therefore was deemed unfit to play in the two-Test series.
Mohammed Shami was named in the Indian squad for the Test series but his availability was subjected to fitness. However, now BCCI released an official statement stating that the pacer will not be taking part in the any of the games.

Apart from this, Deepak Chahar also has been ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa. He will not be joining the team due to a medical emergency at his home. The fast bowler also missed the T20I series due to the same and his absence was evident.
Deepak Chahar has asked for a break from BCCI and won’t be featuring the any of the games. The governing body has yet to name a replacement. It is likely that they will be announcing the replacement soon. India has quite a few players in South Africa, playing A games.
IND vs SA: Shreyas Iyer to play just one ODI
Apart from the medical statement related to Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar for IND vs SA, the BCCI also gave clarification on Shreyas Iyer. The senior batter who is part of the three ODIs will be playing just one game in the series and will be leaving the squad to prepare for the Test series.
India will be playing a two-Test series in South Africa. The first game will be played on 26th December whereas the second match will be played on 3rd January. Shreyas Iyer will be playing a crucial role for the team in the series as he will have to play a huge role in the middle order if India has to win.
