IND vs SL: The third and final game of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka is all set to take place on Tuesday evening at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. India have already won the IND vs SL series, and it is a dead rubber of the game.
But Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir will look to end the series with a 3-0 clean sweep. However, as the visitors have already won the series, they might look to make some changes in their playing XI as well and give chances to those who haven’t done well.
Despite being a dead rubber, this game is very important because this could be the last chance for some of the players. Here we will talk about three players who can be dropped if they didn’t do well in this IND vs SL game.
IND vs SL: Three Players who might be dropped if they don’t do well in the third T20I
3. Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag has been part of the both T20I and ODI squads. He took three wickets in the first game but went wicketless in the second match. He batted once and scored six runs. But he is picked in the team as a middle order batter.
Gambhir said that he was picked because Tilak Varma was injured. So it might be the last chance for Riyan. If he fails in the third IND vs SL game, he might not get another chance pretty soon.
2. Khaleel Ahmed
The left-arm pacer made his comeback for the side in the series against Zimbabwe. But so far he hasn’t gotten a chance against Sri Lanka. But he is expected to play the third IND vs SL game. India already have some young emerging pacers coming through the ranks.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are not part of the current setup, and then there are Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan, who are also in the line. So irrespective of whether Khaleel plays the third game or not, he might be dropped from the squad.
1. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson played the second game in place of Shubman Gill, as the opener had a back spasm. Samson is likely to play the third IND vs SL game as well. He bagged a golden duck in the second match and hasn’t grabbed the opportunity properly for India.
So if he plays the third game on Tuesday and fails to convert it, it might be difficult for him to maintain his place in the team. India are sticking with Rishabh Pant as first-choice wicketkeeper, then Jitesh Sharma and Dhurv Jurel are there. Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad are waiting for a top-order spot. So it will become tough for Samson in the future.
