The Women in Blue registered a dominating 143 run win against the Proteas in the first ODI thanks to the superb efforts of Smriti Mandhana (117 runs in 127 balls) with the bat and Asha Sobhana (4-21) with the ball and gained a 1-0 lead in the three match series.
Smriti’s knock of 117 runs consisted of one six and 12 fours while the duo of Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma applied the finishing touches to the Indian Batting inning as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team managed to post a good looking total of 265-8 on the board after the end of 50 overs.
