Abhimanyu Easwaran Leads As The Captain

Abhimanyu Easwaran, a batsman from Bengal, will be leading India A. Dhruv will be the vice-captain of the team. Easwaran has scored 7,674 first-class runs at the age of 29, including 27 centuries. His batting style suits English conditions well. Dhruv, a wicketkeeper-batsman, brings a lot of energy to the team.

Karun Nair’s Strong Return

Karun Nair is making a comeback at the age of 33 after a fantastic domestic season. He scored 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy, including a century in the final. He also scored 779 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 5 centuries.

A triple-centurion in domestic cricket, Karun last played a Test match against England in 2017. He could be a strong contender for the number four spot, possibly with the backing of Virat Kohli.

Thakur’s All-Round Skill

Shardul Thakur is also returning after a brilliant Ranji season, where he scored 505 runs and took 35 wickets for Mumbai. The 33-year-old was seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. He has three half-centuries in Test cricket, including one memorable knock against England in 2021.

Shardul might also get called up to the senior team, and his pace and batting abilities will be a significant asset for India A.

India A will play a total of three matches on this tour. One of those games, scheduled between June 13 and June 16, will be against the senior team. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad from the second match onwards.

Since the IPL 2025 playoffs are still going on, the selectors have chosen players whose teams are not in the playoffs so that the tour starts smoothly without any scheduling conflicts.
