Match number 25 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 ended with India winning by seven wickets against co-hosts USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium of New York on 12th June. Once again, it was a low scoring thriller and this win against the Americans has helped the Indians secure their qualification for the Super 8 phase of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma won the toss, and keeping in mind how tough it is to bat first at this ground, chose to field first. The Americans posted a decent looking total of 110 runs on the board, courtesy of a good 27 run knock by Nitish Kumar along with useful contributions from Corey Anderson and Steven Taylor.
Talking about India’s performance with the ball, Arshdeep Singh was the star of the day as he picked up a four wicket haul against the Americans while Hardik Pandya also managed to pick up two wickets. Spin bowling all rounder Axar Patel ended the game with one scalp next to his name as well.
A target of 111 runs was considered a walk in the park for the Men in Blue, but the home side didn’t make it easy as they dismissed Virat Kohli early on for a golden duck, and then skipper Rohit Sharma got dismissed cheaply as well. The duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant got involved in a crucial stand for the fourth wicket and steadied the Indian ship in a really good way.
Pant got out in the seventh over off the bowling of Ali Khan as the Indians were struggling at 39-3. But, much to the disappointment of the Aaron Jones-led team, SKY decided to take control of one end, and the struggling Shivam Dube supported him from the other end. Despite struggling, the Southpaw didn’t give his wicket away and played a key role in India’s win alongside SKY.
