The Indian Cricket Team did not have the best of its games yesterday. The India VS Australia 1st T20I saw Australia chase down 209 runs in 20 overs. The Australian team went an all-out attack on the Indian bowling line-up. The Indian batting was good too but many things went wrong for the Indian team. So, what are those things? Here is an in-depth look:

India VS Australia: Catches Win Matches:

An old man once quoted, “Catches win you matches” and this is exactly what the Indian cricket team forgot. However, there is no point in criticizing players as the ground construction is key in such things. Mohali has a specific stat that says that most catches are dropped on this ground. This is because the floodlights at Mohali are a little lower than usual. So, each ball that goes up comes through these lights. And the players find it difficult to gauge it. Hence yesterday, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and even Harshal Patel dropped catches at crucial moments.

India VS Australia: Absence of Jasprit Bumrah is Hurting India:

The India VS Australia T20I did not see the comeback man Jasprit Bumrah. The team management decided to rest Bumrah and play Umesh Yadav. Umesh did bring back India into the game by scalping two wickets but by then he had conceded 25+ runs in his two overs. Umesh deserves a comeback; he deserves one more chance but will that come at the cost of the balance of the team? Bumrah’s absence can also be felt because whenever Rohit looked around for a wicket, he did not see a quality wicket-taking option.

Yuzvendra Chahal Under Pressure:

Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t generally take the pressure. He believes in giving pressure. But yesterday, it looked as if the Australian batters had kept him under the pump. Cameron Green went after Chahal from the start itself. I guess it was a planned tactic to tonk Chahal all over the park. And once under the pump, Chahal wasn’t flighting the ball enough. He cut down his option of attacking the batter. But Chahal is a true champion and will make a comeback in the next game!
