India vs Bangladesh Series Suspended Due to Political Tensions - BCCI Likely to Cancel Tour

India vs Bangladesh series suspended due to rising political tensions, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) likely to cancel the white-ball tour set for August 2025. The series, planned for three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram, is on hold after diplomatic strains, worsened by the April 2025 Pahalgam attack and Bangladesh’s political unrest.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has paused media rights sales, hinting at a postponement. This affects the return of stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

India vs Bangladesh Series Suspended

India vs Bangladesh series suspended as the BCCI is set to cancel the August 2025 tour. The plan included three ODIs and three T20Is starting August 17 in Dhaka. Political tensions, including the Pahalgam attack, have led India’s government to advise against the trip.

The BCB has stopped media rights sales, signaling a likely postponement. A joint statement from both boards is expected soon, calling it a delay rather than a full cancellation.

Why Tensions Are High

India vs Bangladesh series suspended due to diplomatic issues. The April 2025 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 tourists, and Bangladesh’s political unrest after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s exit in August 2024, strained ties.

A retired Bangladeshi officer’s remarks about occupying India’s northeastern states added fuel. India’s trade restrictions on Bangladeshi goods further complicated things. These issues make the tour risky, leading to the BCCI’s cautious approach.

Impact on Players

The series was their chance to shine in Dhaka, but now young players like Suryakumar Yadav may lead. The BCB hopes to reschedule, but no new dates are set.

The BCB is now selling media rights only for a Pakistan T20I series in July. India’s next focus is the ongoing England Tests, with the third Test starting July 10.
