India vs England T20 Series: After succumbing to a disappointing defeat in the 5th Test match against England at Edgbaston with which they bottled the series, Team India finally bounced back in style in the first match of the T20I series between them and England which was played today at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.
India won the toss and opted to bat first. They put up a respectable first-innings total of 198/8 in 20 overs and in response, England were all out for just 148 runs in 19.3 overs. In this article, we shall be taking a look at 5 talking points about India’s emphatic victory against England in the First T20I.
5. Deepak Hooda’s selection in the T20I squad is inevitable
Deepak Hooda has consistently performed well in all the changes that he has been given in the Indian national team and it seems like he will make the cut for India’s T20 World Cup squad. Even in today’s match, he scored 33 off 17.
4. Arshdeep Singh might replace Mohammad Shami
Just a day ago, some selectors of BCCI opined that they might consider removing Mohammad Shami from India’s squad for the T20I World Cup due to fitness issues and it seems like they have found their replacement today. Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets at an economy of just 5.14 in today’s match and gave a brilliant performance.
3. Ishan Kishan might be dropped
Ishan Kishan has been nothing but disappointing in the last few matches for both his IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and the Indian team. Ever since becoming the richest Indian cricketer in the Mega Auction, it has all been downhill for Ishan Kishan and he has had an awful run in all formats. If this continues, he might be dropped from the Indian team altogether.
2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was surprisingly good
Even a year ago, we had a notion that after being dropped from all formats, Bhuvneshwar Kumar might consider giving up on his career. However, the veteran fast bowler has made a sensational comeback and it was evident in his performance today. He picked up the important wicket of Jos Buttler today and more than that, he maintained a very low economy of 3.33 which is commendable.
1. Hardik is back
The 2022 IPL season has indeed been game-changing for Hardik Pandya. Ever since he started to bowl again, there has been a newly formed confidence in the Mumbai boy and with it, he has regained his original form back. Hardik Pandya scored 51 runs and picked up 4 wickets in today’s match which made him the rightful owner of the Player of the Match award.
