India vs England 1st Test: England test skipper Joe Root has shattered all the questions of his critics who questioned his place in “Fab Four” with his back-to-back tons. Root in the ongoing first Test against England in Chennai has scored over 150 runs and still unbeaten at the crease.

The former England skipper Nasser Hussain feels, Root has proved that he belongs to the same league of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.

Root who faced a lot of criticism last year after he failed miserably to reach a single ton, has been in an impressive form in 2021. Right from the beginning of 2021, ROot has been enduring a good time in the ground as he has amassed three back to back hundreds. Two against Sri Lanka and one against India in the first test.

The three centuries consists of one double ton while the other in Sri Lanka ended after 150 and the recent one against India is still unbeaten after scoring 150.

“It’s fitting that Joe Root proved he’s a true great by scoring a hundred in his 100th Test,” Hussain wrote in his column for ‘Sky Sports’.

“Some people were starting to doubt if he belongs to that group of Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith when he went through a lean patch last year – but don’t forget he was still averaging 40 in that period!” Hussain added.

“During the long break enforced by lockdown and the pandemic he thought ‘how am I going to go back to being the Joe Root that I was?’

He has worked really tough in his style and technique and that’s why he is getting good results.

Ian Bell also praised Joe Root for his brilliant form:

Nasser Hussain counterpart Ian Bell also praised Root and looked in the same page like Hussain.

“Joe Root himself has told he has not got a single century in 2020 and he has really looked into himself during the forced covid-19 break. In the recent three Tests, every one his watching him and praising him, that’s how you get results,” Ian Bell.

“Little that I know, he has been extremely working hard and his hunger to get better paid him off. He looked into his technical side which was a golden time for him.”

“It is the perfect start to the year when you are against India in India and you play Ashes in Australia, these are some crucial series and most important career-defining. Root has been in a good form in early 2021 and would want to carry that long.”
