India vs England: “Means Nothing to me” says Virat Kohli on breaking MS Dhoni’s record.

India vs England: India’s current skipper Virat Kohli is a mere one test win away from surpassing former skipper MS DHoni’s record of most test win at home. Both the skippers, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have recorded 21 home wins while the former has a chance to lift the bar in Wednesday’s pink ball test match.

Virat Kohli said that the record means nothing in front of the bond he shares with MS Dhoni and the things he learnt from him.

“That record (surpassing Dhoni in captaincy) means nothing to me. Records are looked at from an individual point of view and we don’t play sport for those records,” said Kohli on the eve of the third Test.

Kohli further said that he never looked after the personal goals and milestones in cricket and wants the upcoming skipper of the side to have the same thought and intent.

“Be it individual’s record as a batsman or number of wins as captains, it is a responsibility given to me and I’m trying to do my best. This has always been the case and will remain the same, as long as I play the game. These are fickle things which look great from the outside compared to individuals but it doesn’t matter to me,” said Kohli.

“Me and Mahi bhai share a great camaraderie and mutual respect is what drives us further to flourish in the game. I have a team to lead, I cannot rely on these milestones. I have the responsibility of the squad to keep them on top of the game and the same goes with someone who will take other me.”

India and England are right now level at 1-1 in the four games test series. The third test which will be the pink ball test will be played on Wednesday at the newly refurbished Motera Stadium.
