India vs England ODI: Opportunity for fringe players to seal the T20 spot says, Eoin Morgan.

India vs England ODI: England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan feels the approaching ODI series could be an opportunity for the fringe players to prove their worth and seal the berth in the ICC T20 World Cup squad. He said that the 50 overs format has the same tactics and throws similar situations to T20 cricket.

The visitors have already lost the Test and T20I series after making a perfect start in both the series. However, the team still has some opportunities to return back home with some pride in the ODI series.

?Given the T20 World Cup round the corner, playing any international cricket is a huge opportunity for guys who have been on the fringes and not made the selection so far,? said Eoin Morgan.

?When you perform better in the away soil whether you are a bowler or a batter, it throws some signals and pushes your name forward,? the skipper said.

India and England are hitched to play three ODI games in Pune to wrap the England tour to India 2021.

?It is the opportunity for all the players especially the fringe players who haven?t had enough opportunities to push their names forward.?

Morgan feels that the ODI format is somewhat similar to the T20Is and players who are constantly performing good could be considered for the T20Is also.

India pushed England to a 3-1 defeat in the Test series after a perfect first game which England won by a massive difference. The T20I series was no less, India again proved why they are the best in the world, despite the odds of losing the toss and batting first, India won the five games T20I series by 3-2.

?The T20I series was a great learning curve for us. We could not lift the trophy but playing against a side like India in their home conditions is always a task and this has made us learn so many things. The bigger picture for us is the T20I world Cup,? Eoin Morgan said.

?You don?t always have to win every series in order to win the World Cup. Continuously you need to get better, you need to be tested. Need to fail to learn that involves losing which is part of your journey,? Morgan said.

The T20 World Cup will be hosted in India later this year in the window of October and November. India will be the favourites to win the tournament while England being the number 1 T20I side is also on the list.
