India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI: The Men in Blue are set to lock horns against the Lions on January 10 (Tuesday) with the return of regular skipper Rohit Sharma. This series itself has huge importance as the team begins to prepare for the 2023 ODI World Cup, scheduled for later this year.

Toward the close of 2022, the Men in Blue suffered two consecutive ODI series losses—first to New Zealand and then to a competitive Bangladesh team, but in the third ODI against Bangladesh, Ishan Kishan hit a double century and Virat Kohli scored his 72nd international century, allowing India to showcase the potential of their players. The hosts will surely intend to continue in that way.

Other than Rohit, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and KL Rahul will also be returning to the lineup for the series. But all eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav, who produced his third T20I century against Sri Lanka in the last T20I.

India and Sri Lanka will meet for the first time at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, where they were scheduled to play in a T20I in 2020 but were forced to abandon due to rain. In fact, the Barsapara Stadium has only hosted one ODI match so far, which took place against West Indies in 2018 and featured hundreds from Rohit and Kohli.

Barsapara Cricket Stadium pitch (Twitter)

The pitch at this stadium is high-scoring, with batters finding value for their shots. This stadium is set to host its second ODI after one in 2018 when Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scored hundreds to help India chase down a total against West Indies. Chasing might be the ideal thing to do on this pitch and the team which wins the toss will look to do just that.

Ind vs SL 3rd T20I: Who will win the 3rd T20I?

The Indian team appears more potent than the Sri Lankan team, even though Jasprit Bumrah is injured and cannot play. In the opening few overs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the ball swings in the air, which the Indian bowlers may utilize more effectively.

The toss will play a crucial role; the winning team will attempt to limit the other camp to low runs before coming to chase. This field’s previous pattern benefits the teams batting later. If India bat first, they will have to put up a humongous total on the board as it is more like a batting surface.
