The Indian Cricket Team has many players. The BCCI is always facing the problem of plenty. There are just way too many options to pick from for the Indian cricket team. From 2021 on, more than 10 players have debuted in all formats. We had Prasidh Krishna, Shahbaz Ahmed, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, and many more such players in the ODI format. Surya and Ishan Kishan also debuted last year. With that being said, there are players who have been ignored even after good domestic performances:
T Natarajan has Performed well for the Indian Cricket Team:
T Natarajan set the record for being the only player who debuted in all the 3 formats on a single tour in India’s tour of Australia 2021. Natarajan proved his mettle in that series and the following series when England visited India. He was exceptional. But he only played the Gabba test which was possible as all the other bowlers were injured. His stats are as follows:
Format | Matches | Wickets | Average |
Test | 1 | 3 | 39.3 |
ODI | 2 | 3 | 44.2 |
T20I | 4 | 7 | 17.6 |
Krunal Pandya:
Krunal Pandya was in tears on his debut game for India in the ODI format. After having a great VJT 2020, he was picked for England’s tour of India in 2021. It was after a long time that we saw two brothers represent the country after a long time. Krunal batted very well in that series. He was poor with the ball as he was taken for runs but with the bat, he was too good. But ever since, he has been neglected. His domestic numbers off-late aren’t exceptional, but when they were he went unnoticed. Here is a look at his stats:
Format | Matches | Runs | Average | Wickets | Average |
T20I | 16 | 24.8 | 24.8 | 15 | 36.93 |
ODI | 5 | 130 | 65 | 2 | 111.5 |
Rahul Tripathi hasn’t got an Opportunity for the Indian Cricket Team:
Rahul Tripathi has been piling on the performances season after season in the IPL and the SMAT as well. He is the flag bearer of the Maharashtra contingent. He played for the Pune Super Giants in 2016. From that season onwards, he has been continually working. His teammates address him as a “Team Man”. His work ethic is something that even Gary Kirsten has spoken about. Rahul Tripathi just needs one more impactful season to break that door of the Indian Cricket Team.
Ravi Bishnoi has been Dropped from the Indian Cricket Team:
Ravi Bishnoi has been dropped from the Indian Cricket Team. The reason I say this is that the BCCI hasn’t given any update on him. We don’t have an injury update and also do not have an update on whether he has been rested or not. Bishnoi was given multiple opportunities and he excelled in all of them. He looked a little off-color in just the last two games but that is how it generally works.
Navdeep Saini:
Navdeep Saini has slipped quickly down the ranks. He was a part of the historic Gabba squad. Since then, he hasn’t got any significant opportunities. He was the spearhead of RCB with his exceptional pace but he was replaced by Mohammed Siraj. It is a competitive sport but since then he hasn’t made a strong comeback. His performances for Delhi in domestic cricket have been good. He is also going to get opportunities with the Rajasthan Royals, so a comeback is on the cards.
