ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Indian government to issue Visas to Pakistani Cricketers for the ICC T20 World Cup.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced that the Pakistani Cricket Team will not face any issues travelling to India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup as the government will grant visas to the players of the neighbouring nation.
In the recent Apex Council Meeting, BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed every member about the decision of the government to grant Visas to the Pakistani players.
“The visa issue of Pakistan cricket team has been sorted. However whether the fans can travel across the border to watch matches is still not clear,” an Apex Council member told PTI.
“It will be decided in due course of time. However, we had promised ICC that it will be sorted. The secretary announced during the meeting.”
Ehsan Mani who is the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier said they will need full assurance from the Indian counterpart for the safety of the players.
He further added that the Pakistani team would take part in the ICC T20 World Cup which will be hosted by India with full dignity and protocol and need complete written assurance from ICC.
“I have informed the board that the BCCI was supposed to give us visa assurances by 31st December but that didn’t happen because their President, Saurav Ganguly was twice hospitalised,” he said at a media conference here.
“But I have now again taken up this matter with the ICC and am in touch with them. I also have another virtual conference with them tomorrow on this issue. The ICC has told us that we will get our written confirmation by the end of next month.”
