IND vs SL: Mohammed Shami on the verge of creating history in World Cups; could achieve it in Sri Lanka clash

IND vs SL: There’s no stopping for Indian Cricket Team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The Rohit Sharma-led side has made a strong statement in the tournament and is looking for the most threatening force. The Men in Blue are sitting at the top of the table with 6 wins under their belt from 6 games. Their qualification for the semi-final is almost certain and they would be hoping to end their ICC title drought this time around.

IND vs SL: Mohammed Shami on the verge of creating history in World Cups; could achieve it in Sri Lanka clash

Mohammed Shami has played an instrument success in India’s dominant run in the ICC World Cup 2023. The fast bowler didn’t play the first four games as the team preferred Shardul Thakur over him due to the batting prowess the latter possessed.

However, the injury to Hardik Pandya paved the way for him in the Indian XI and he made a staggering statement right away. He returned to the XI for the game against New Zealand and picked a five-wicket haul in Dharamsala that helped his side win.

Mohammed Sham continued his carnage as he then returned with four wickets to send a strong statement to the selectors. With 9 wickets in just two games, the pacer is on the verge of achieving history in the World Cups.

With the way he’s bowling, Mohammed Shami can achieve the feat in the ongoing IND vs SL game. If he goes past India legends in the upcoming game, it’ll be an icing on the cake for the fans. His form will be crucial for the team going into the World Cup.

Most wickets for India in World Cups:

Zaheer Khan – 44 (23 innings)

PAK vs BAN: Pakistan’s Strongest Playing 11 Against Bangladesh And Key Players To Watch Out For Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI World Cup 2023

PAK vs BAN: The contest between number 7 and number 9 of the ICC World Cup 2023 Points table is scheduled to be played on 31 October. Pakistan and Bangladesh, with very little chance alive, will seek to utilize every ounce of energy to win this very match. A lot of pressure on the Pakistan team which can make or break them today at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Here we cover Pakistan’s Strongest Playing 11 Against Bangladesh And Key Players To Watch Out For PAK vs BAN.

Very little hope and even less possibility alive for Pakistan to somehow make it to the semi-finals. Calculations and all are high but to be honest, Pakistan’s journey in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will end with the end of the group stage. But they can improve their rank in the ICC World Cup 2023 points table by winning all the next three matches.

There are management problems going through, fan wars are highly active, and captaincy debates are always there, but at the top of all, there is a concern with the form of the experienced players and bench strength. They have not cracked that winning combination and the end is near.

They were one of the strongest teams before the World Cup 2023 but just one injury to Naseem Shah just broke up the balance of the team. Veteran players are underperforming which results in more and more pressure on the youngsters. This is not a good sign for a team ranked among the top sides of the world.

PAK vs BAN: Pakistan’s Strongest Playing 11 Analysis

Abdullah Shafique provided stability at the top when the second partner Imam was running out of form. He has looked a little off-color since his century against Sri Lanka. Babar showed a strong character against India and Bangladesh after a string of poor scores.

Babar Azam (Pakistan)
Babar Azam

Rizwan has been the backbone of Pakistan in the middle and undoubtedly has been the best Pakistani batter to understand and adapt to the Indian condition. He is the highest run scorer for Pakistan in this campaign but also has some bad days in the last few innings.

Saud Shakeel has been impressive in the past but he looks off-color in this tournament and unfortunately, Pakistan doesn’t have that many options on the bench. Ifthikar is an explosive batsman but not a reliable one. He is not a promising finisher that Pakistan should have on a stage like the World Cup.

Shadab Khan is fit now and will be there in the team working as a leg-spinning allrounder and he also provides a safe hand to the fielding. Mohammad Nawaz was back in the team but the last over nightmare for him has been a thorn in the flesh for him. Nawaz has not been too efficient, whereas Mir impressed in a few games he played.

Pakistan to appoint new vice-captain ahead of ICC World Cup 2023, Shaheen Afridi likely to be named
Shaheen Afridi (image source – BCCI Twitter)

The eagle Afridi is back in the hunt in style. He is keeping his standards high while Rauf has been a disappointment. He is too expensive and not that much effective in the middle to take wickets. No updates on Hasan Ali’s fitness so Mohammad Wasim Jr will continue to play.

PAK vs BAN: Pakistan’s Playing 11

Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz/Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf

Full Pakistan Squad: Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Agha Salman, Fakhar Zaman, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr

PAK vs BAN Key Players to Watch Out

Pakistan will be looking for big players to stand up and take charge. Babar and other veterans haven’t really stood up to their brand of cricket and they are likely to do so today. Babar and Rizwan will be on everyone’s eyes with hopes today.

While, for Bangladesh, expect a big fifty from Litton Das or Shanto. Shoriful Islam will be their key Bowler. Shakib Al Hasan said in a recent PAK vs BAN prematch conference- “There is a lot to play for. As you know, we have to win to be able to qualify for the Champions Trophy. That’s an important target I think we can set at this moment and to do that we have to win. We have no other options and that’s what we would look to do.”

England are having a torrid time in the ICC World Cup 2023. Not only has this ended their chances of defending the target but it also has put their qualification for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in jeopardy.

England is reeling at the bottom of the points table with just one win for their five games in the ICC World Cup 2023. To make their case strong for the Champions trophy they need to finish in the top 7. But things look bleak for them with the way they are playing.

However, they are not completely out of contention for Champions Trophy 2025. They still have a few games left in ICC World Cup 2023 and they can make it into the top 7. England need to win at least two out of their remaining three games in the tournament. They will play against Australia, Netherlands and Pakistan.

However, two wins won’t be enough for them as they would want the Netherlands to lose all their remaining three matches. The Dutch team have games left against Afghanistan, England and India. They have won two games so far.

Apart from this, England would want Bangladesh to lose their 2 out of their remaining three games in the ICC World Cup 2023. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side are also having a torrid campaign. They will be playing against Australia, Netherlands and Pakistan.

SL vs AFG: Updated World Cup 2023 Points Table, Sri Lanka Likely to get ELIMINATED, Afghanistan Rise in the Points Table

SL vs AFG: Updated World Cup 2023 Points Table: In an important victory, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on October 30. The Afghans riding on the back of a clinical bowling show followed by a superb batting display, edged the former World Cup winners, Sri Lanka by seven wickets. With the win, Afghanistan will continue their World Cup 2023 semi-final spot hunt as they keep themselves firm in fifth place in the Updated World Cup 2023 Points Table.

In recent times, Afghanistan has shown great improvement in their cricketing legacy. They nearly knocked Sri Lanka out during the Asia Cup 2023 and now on the world stage, they have taken over all the limelight after defeating big wig teams – England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Talking about the recent fixture between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, the former scored 241 runs total before getting bowled out at the hands of Afghanistan. On a good batting surface, the score was not really competitive, which was felt by the Sri Lankan bowlers as they couldn’t defend it.

Opener Prathum Nissanka led the charge of the Sri Lankan innings with a knock of 46 runs in 60 deliveries. Later in the innings, Kusal Mendis (39 runs), and Sadeera Samarawickrama (36 runs) among others also chipped in with their handy contributions to take Sri Lanka’s overall total to 241 runs.

Left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi played a vital role in reducing Sri Lanka to a low total on a decent batting track with a four-wicket haul. Besides, Mujeeb picked two while Rashid Khan and Azmatullah got one apiece.

241 was never going to put pressure on the Afghanistan batting lineup which had many bright stars shining. Although Sri Lanka managed to provide an early breakthrough (Rahmanullah Gurbaz) in the very first over, the other batters were too confident to budge. Barring Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 39 runs, the next three batters completed their half-centuries. The likes of Rahmat Shah (62 runs), Hashmatullah Shahidi (58* runs) and Azmatullah Omarzai (73* runs) played half-century knocks, with the latter two batters remaining unbeaten.

Those solid contributions from Afghanistan’s middle-order helped the team clinch an easy win against Sri Lanka in Pune by seven wickets and 4.4 overs to spare.

The victory against Sri Lanka aided Afghanistan to consolidate their position in the World Cup 2023 Points Table. With three wins and as many losses in six matches, Afghanistan is placed fifth in the points table. The team will now compete with the likes of New Zealand and Australia as there is nothing too much of a difference between the number three ranked team (New Zealand) and the number five ranked team (Afghanistan), except for a solitary victory.

Sri Lanka’s position is on a decline in the World Cup 2023. They have just managed to win two matches and lost four in the six games they have played so far in the tournament. Sri Lanka are now tied with Pakistan and Netherlands, who all are standing at the bottom half of the points table with four points each.

It’s going to be moderately hot outside, and probably a dry pitch. It is probably the same one in which Australia defeated South Africa. It’s anticipated that the spinners would have a lot of ground to work with because it’s a black and red soil blend. Under the guidance of ICC’s pitch supervisor Andy Atkinson, there was a lot of work done on it the day before the match. Initially wetting the area, then carefully rolling with a light roller before moving on to a heavy one.

AUS vs NZ: Updated World Cup 2023 Points Table, Australia, New Zealand to Enter Semi-Finals ICC World Cup 2023

AUS vs NZ: As we are nearing the World Cup 2023 semis, the contests have become more intense and competitive. The last two fixtures in the World Cup 2023 are a treat for the eye of a cricket fan. A couple of nights ago, South Africa sealed the game against Pakistan in the final over thriller, and now Australia got past New Zealand in the epic contest which unfolded at the HPCA Stadium in Dharmshala. Australia, with the win, equalled New Zealand in the total number of victories in the ongoing World Cup 2023 and ensured that they remain firm in the World Cup 2023 semifinal race. This article, later on, will lead you through AUS vs NZ: Updated World Cup 2023 Points Table, Australia, New Zealand Ranking.

Australia, batting first in the contest, plundered a massive total in Dharmshala, riding on the back of a fiery century knock from Travis Head and David Warner’s 81-run knock. The two Australian openers looked poised and provided a brilliant start to the team as they added 175 runs for the first wicket.

Following the big opening stand, Australia saw a collapse from its middle-order and things got a bit tight for them in the middle-order. However, Glenn Maxwell (41), Josh Inglis (38) and skipper Pat Cummins’ (37) quickfire knocks helped the team put a 388-run total in 50 overs.

Trent Boult (3), Glenn Phillips (3) and Mitchell Santner (2) were the pick of the bowlers as they picked eight wickets collectively.

Chasing such a big total required special effort from the entire team and New Zealand certainly got it, however, unfortunately, the day wasn’t theirs. Top-order batter Rachin Ravindra played an innings to remember as he scored 116 runs in 89 deliveries. Later in the innings, Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham scored a half-century, but all efforts went in vain as Australia registered a last-ball win by 5 runs.

AUS vs NZ: New Zealand, Australia to enter Semi-Finals ICC World Cup 2023
