IPL 2024 Auction will not be held in India, Tentative Dates Revealed for IPL 2024 Auction

IPL 2024 Auction will not be held in India, Tentative Dates Revealed for IPL 2024 Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is once again all over the headlines as we all gear up for the preparations for another season of the lucrative T20 league. We have already approached a time when there are intense debates going around among cricket experts regarding the release and retention of players and the recent development or, perhaps reports will only intensify such discourses.

As per the latest development, the IPL 2024 Auction is set to move out of India and the general perception is that Dubai will be the next preferred destination by the officials.

Although the official notification on the same from the BCCI and the IPL is still pending, a report published on Cricbuzz indicated that Dubai has emerged as the top contender to host the IPL 2024 Auction. There is no official confirmation on the venue for the auction either.

Tentative Dates for IPL 2024 Auction

While Dubai, reportedly, is the preferred location for the IPL 2024 Auction, the window between December 15-19 is being mulled as the tentative dates to host the event. Notably, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is tentatively scheduled to be held on 9 December.

Interestingly, the BCCI hosted IPL 2023 Auction in Kochi last year, although, Istanbul was earlier considered as the top choice. This time around too, while Dubai is the front-runner to host the IPL 2024 Auction, there are endless possibilities for changes in it. However, all the 10 IPL franchises have been made aware of the initial development.

Last year, all the franchises had the deadline of November 15 to submit their respective lists of final retained and released players. However, this time the deadline could be extended due to the player’s engagement in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, which will be concluded on November 17.

The IPL 2024 is expected to hit the Indian venues in April, just ahead of the scheduled ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and the USA. The aim of the franchise cricket will be to boost the players’ preparation for the forthcoming showpiece event in the Caribbeans.

BCCI appointed Amol Muzumdar as Head Coach of Senior India Women’s Team 2023

India Women’s Team: The Board of Cricket Council Of India announced Amol Muzumdar to fill the 10-month vacant seat of the head coach of the senior India Women’s Team. The BCCI, on Wednesday, appointed the domestic stalwart-turned-coach- Amol Muzudar as the head coach of the India Women’s team.

After interviewing the shortlisted candidates for the position, the board’s Cricket Advisory Committee, which was comprised of Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, unanimously recommended Muzumdar to take over. The position has been empty since Ramesh Powar had to depart in December of last year as a result of an internal BCCI restructuring.

Since then, Nooshin Al Khadeer and Hrishikesh Kanitkar have taken on interim head coach roles. While Kanitkar managed the squad at the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year and their gold-medal winning effort at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Nooshin was in charge during the Indian women’s team’s July trip to Bangladesh.

Muzumdar on his appointment

Muzumdar shared his greeting and welcome for the appointment. He said, “I am deeply honored and privileged to be appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team. I thank the CAC and the BCCI for placing their trust in me and believing in my vision and the roadmap for Team India.”

This is a huge responsibility and I look forward to working closely with talented players and providing them with the right preparation and guidance to excel. The next two years are extremely important as two World Cups are scheduled in the period. Together with the coaching and support staff, we will look to tick every box and give ourselves the best chance to succeed,” he added.

Throughout the course of his 21-year stellar career, Muzumdar—a domestic titan—scored over 11,000 first-class runs in 171 matches, including 30 centuries. In addition, he played in 14 T20 matches and more than 100 List-A games.

Muzumdar played a key role in Mumbai’s eight Ranji titles throughout his 16 seasons with the domestic powerhouse, finishing as the second-highest run scorer in the Ranji Trophy.

Following five more years of playing for Andhra and Assam, Muzumdar has become a highly accomplished advisor. He has taken on many coaching roles within the past ten years.

Prior to taking on the role of head coach for the Mumbai men’s team for the last two domestic seasons, he served as batting coach for the Rajasthan Royals of the Indian Premier League and as a member of the national teams of South Africa and the Netherlands.

IND vs ENG: Hardik Pandya likely to miss 3 games of World Cup 2023; Nature of injury revealed

IND vs ENG: India is the only undefeated team in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far. They have won 5 out of their 5 games are are sitting at the top of the table. Their chances to qualify for the semi-final are looking very bright and it would be a big surprise if they don’t make it.  They are next slated to lock horns against England on Sunday (29th October) in Lucknow and would be hoping to continue their winning run.

IND vs ENG: Hardik Pandya likely to miss 3 games of World Cup 2023; Nature of injury revealed

Hardik Pandya’s injury is much worse than expected. The all-rounder was expected to be fit for the IND vs ENG game but the recent reports in Times of India have suggested a completely different story, which might be a cause of concern for the team.

The reports have suggested that Hardik Pandya has a ligament tear and is doubtful for the India’s next three games. Earlier some reports also suggested that the all-rounder has recovered fully but BCCI might rest him for the IND vs ENG game as a precautionary measure.

But things aren’t as they seem. Hardik Pandya is expected to miss the next three games and it’ll be a huge setback for the Indian team. Although Rohit Sharma-led side have won five out of their five games in the tournament and are at the top of the table, but they lack balance without Pandya.

To seal the semi-final spot, India needs to win their next few games and for that, Hardik Pandya will be crucial. The all-rounder injured himself during the game against Bangladesh in Pune and immediately walked off the field in pain.

Pandya was then ruled out of the game against New Zealand and in his place Suryakumar Yadav was drafted into the XI. The move didn’t work as he was run out. However, if the reports related to Hardik being out for three games, we might see India persisting with Yadav.

IND vs ENG: R Ashwin is in contention to play against England

Apart from Hardik Pandya, there have been reports in PTI, that have suggested that R Ashwin is in contention to play the IND vs ENG game. The match is slated to take place in Lucknow, where the surface traditionally has helped spinners.

Also with the number of left-handers in the England team, bringing in R Ashwin could be a good move. But the question remains who will he replace in the team. Mohammad Shami picked a fifer in the last match and it would be tough to drop him but he might have to face the unfortunate snub, considering the conditions.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Players with Most Runs and Most Wickets (26 Oct) So Far in World Cup 2023| Player Ranking 1 – 10

(26 Oct) ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Players with Most Runs and Most Wickets: Australia are on the hunt as they have recorded the highest-ever win by runs in the history of the Cricket World Cup. A clear message with the brutal hitting and ruthless bowling for the other contestants. Australia thrashed Netherlands by a record 309 runs making plenty of adjustments in the record lists of ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

It was just another day for Australia at the job but not for Netherlands. It wasn’t too hard to guess who was going to win the fixture but even they wouldn’t have expected such big numbers. This was some thrashing for Netherlands and is definitely going to haunt them for a long.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. They needed more than just 2 points from this match. However, they were sitting 4th in the Points table, they had their NRR in the negatives. They had to bat first anyway. Just one change for Australia: Cameron Green replaced Marcus Stoinis and Netherlands didn’t make any change.

Netherlands got an early success in the form of Mitch Marsh. Warner and Smith then collaborated for a ~140-run partnership where both played evenly but Smith(71) missed a well-cooked ton. Labschange joined Warner and then Warner reached his 100 and celebrated in iconic Pushpa style. Labuschange kept the score ticking at a good rate and added 62 runs.

It was 39th over when Glenn Maxwell entered the ground and Australia were 267 for 5. Maxwell smashed the first 50 runs in 27 balls and then he smoked the next 50 runs in just 13 balls! It was just unbelievably ridiculous. He is the one with the fastest 100 in the ODI World Cup now. Riding over his excellent innings, Australia posted a mammoth total of 399 runs.

It was never going to be easy for the men in orange. Starc made the early breakthrough, and a run-out sent back Vikramjit Singh, who appeared positive. It was one-way traffic from that point on. After Mitch Marsh claimed a couple of wickets, Zampa joined the game and added a cheap four to his two previous identical sums. After a slow start to the campaign, he has already taken 12 wickets in his past 3 games. He is really well and back, as are Australia.

Latest ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table: India at NO 1, Australia at 4 | ICC World Cup 2023 Standing

Latest ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table: In a historic victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Pat Cummins-led Australia thrashed Netherlands by a colossal 309 runs on October 25. The 309-run win aided Australia in overcoming the poor net run rate it had due to its shallow performance in the first few matches.

After winning the flip of the coin against Scott Edwards, Australia went on to plunder 399 runs in their innings. Southpaw David Warner scored a 93-ball 104 while Glenn Maxwell played a historic innings of 106 runs in just 44 deliveries and became the fastest batter to score a century in the ODI World Cup. He completed his 100 runs in just 40 deliveries against the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne also contributed to the 399 run total with their knocks of 71 and 62 runs respectively.

The Netherlands had a very big task to manage and they required a few healthy partnerships to threaten the total posted by Australia, which they couldn’t do as they lost wickets on the trot. Opener Vikramjeet Singh was the highest run scorer for his team with a total of 25 runs while the remaining batters couldn’t even cross the 15-run mark.

Eventually, Australia dismissed the Netherlands at 90 runs in just 21 overs and registered a 309 run win, which is also the biggest win ever recorded in the history of the ICC World Cup.

The big win against Netherlands helped Australia resurrect their net run-rate which had taken a deep dive following Australia’s two early losses in the tournament. As of October 25, Australia’s net run rate stands at +1.142 and are placed fourth in the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table with three wins and two losses in five games.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the World Cup standings following their dismal show. The Dutch players have only managed to win a solitary fixture in the ongoing World Cup 2023, which was against South Africa.

The top place in the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table Standing is held by Team India with five wins and no losses in its campaign. India remains the top side in the tournament even as we head to the next phase of it.

South Africa, with four wins and one loss, has taken up the second spot in the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table. Their only loss came against the Netherlands at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharmshala.

New Zealand is placed in third place with the same win/loss figures as South Africa, but a way lesser net-run rate as compared to them. While New Zealand’s net run rate stands at +1.481, South Africa’s stands at a whopping +2.370, the highest in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Australia is at number 4 followed by Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Netherlands.

IND vs ENG: In a more troubling development for the Indian team marching forward in their,so far, successful campaign in the IC World Cup 2023, senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to miss India’s another fixture, scheduled on Sunday. The recent updates show that Hardik will miss India’s next game against England in Lucknow.

The all-rounder will undergo a fitness test on Thursday (October 26) after which his next plan of action will be determined. A successful report of the fitness assessment test would mean that Hardik will be fit to participate in the ICC World Cup 2023 and his return date will be finalized accordingly.

It is worth noting that shortly after the India vs Bangladesh fixture, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that there was “no major damage” to the all-rounder. Hardik was subsequently sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his rehab.

Hardik Pandya was replaced with Suryakumar & Mohd Shami

Hardik Pandya missed India’s last assignment against New Zealand on October 22. Although his absence was seen as a major roadblock for India, the team successfully managed to get past the jitters of New Zealand.

To compensate for him, India included Suryakumar Yadav to strengthen their batting unit, and for the cover-up of the bowling skill losses, Mohammad Shami replaced Shardul Thakur to maintain the overall balance of the playing 11.

While Shami had a memorable outing against New Zealand as he registered his second fifer in the ICC World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav got trapped in a horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli and was run out at a meagre score of 2.

It remains to be seen if India goes ahead with the same mix of players in the first 11 against England in Lucknow as they proceeded against New Zealand, a few days ago.

Lucknow’s surface is known to be more favourable to spinners. The pitch has tendency to slow down as the game proceeds which may lure Rohit Sharma to include an attacking spin option in R Ashwin in place of Mohammad Shami.

Below is India’s likely playing 11 against England for the contest on October 28 in Lucknow.
