ICC ODI Player Rankings (Rank 1 to 10) Updated After NZ vs AFG ICC ODI World Cup 2023 (18 October) | Full ICC Men’s ODI Player Standings

ICC ODI Player Rankings (Rank 1 to 10) Updated After NZ vs AFG: Some significant turmoils at the top in the ICC ODI Player Rankings updated by ICC midway through the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. ICC have posted the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Standings where Rohit Sharma jumped five places up while Siraj and Hardik slipped a few spots. This post reads the Full ICC Men’s ODI Player Standings of Batters, Bowlers, and All-rounders.

In the latest updated ICC ODI Player Rankings, there are as many as 6 Indian players in the top 10s of each category (Batting, Bowling, and All-rounders) which is the highest number of players from all the other countries. Three Indian players are in the top 10 of the Batting ranking, two in the bowling, and one in the top 10 all-rounders rankings. Surprisingly, India is followed by Afghanistan. Five Afghan athletes have successfully kept their spots in the top 10s of each of the three categories.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, jumped five spots to sixth position in the ODI ICC ODI batters’ rankings as a result of his overpowering performance at home during the current World Cup. Rohit has been one of the most productive batsmen in the tournament after scoring 131 runs against Afghanistan and following that up with an impressive 86 off 63 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Shubman Gill again lost 12 rating points and now he is 18 ratings far from the top-ranked Pakistan’s class batsman and skipper Babar Azam. However, Shubman still holds the second spot in the latest updated ICC ODI Player Rankings. Two back-to-back centuries from Quinton de Kock has helped him to improve his ranking from 7th position and now he is the new number three in the Men’s batting rankings.

Imam-ul Haq slipped from 6th place to 10th place and Virat Kohli still holds that joint 8th spot with Dawid Malan.

Moving to the bowler’s ranking, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood is the Number 1 bowler in ICC ODI Player Rankings with 660 rating points. He is 1 rating ahead of Trent Boult who is followed by India’s Mohammad Siraj with 654 rating points. Kuldeep Yadav regained his spot in the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Bowling rankings and is ranked 8th with 641 rating points.

Rashid Khan, an Afghan wizard, has a firm grip on fourth position in the bowling rankings while his compatriot Mujeeb Ur Rahman has dropped to fifth place from third. Spinner Keshav Maharaj of South Africa advanced seven positions overall to tie for the fifth position with Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

IND vs BAN: Shami IN Bumrah OUT, India’s Likely Playing 11 against Bangladesh | India vs Bangladesh ODI World Cup 2023

IND vs BAN: India’s Likely Playing 11 against Bangladesh, NO Place for Jasprit Bumrah: Team India extended its winning run in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after it defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the most-anticipated clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, on October 14. The win took India to a one-sided unassailable 8-0 win against Pakistan in the World Cup history. With such a boosting victory against the arch-rivals, Rohit Sharma and his boys would look to continue to ride on the winning momentum as they take on Bangladesh in their next contest.

The Men in Blue’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign began with a dominating win over Australia in the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Then the convincing hunt against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium provided India its second win of the tournament before striking down the arch-rivals Pakistan at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The next target for Team India would be Bangladesh, against which they will play on October 19 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Bangladesh particularly are not having a ball of their time in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The Tigers won their opening game against Afghanistan but then got derailed against England and New Zealand in the next contests.

A raging issue for them would be their batting, especially the top and middle-order. In the last two games, Bangladesh have not received a decent start to their innings. Moreover, the pressure handling in the middle-order isn’t encouraging either for the team. Senior wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahman has been the sole performer for the team in the middle order, with some other batters in the lower order showing their handy batting skills.

Team India, on the other side, have all their checklist covered and have been an early trendsetter in the ODI World Cup 2023. The batting has been spot on, the bowlers have time and again turned the game on its head and the fielders have also been showing their sharp skills.

With such a brilliant start to their home World Cup campaign, there is no going back for the hosts, who aim to put an end to their World Cup title drought this time.

As the game against Bangladesh will not be a high-pressure fixture for Team India, the management might look to rest a few players and give opportunities to the others, who have been warming the bench. There can be other changes in India’s Playing 11 against Bangladesh depending upon the pitch.

Below is the complete detail of the IND vs BAN fixture and India’s Likely Playing 11 against Bangladesh.

IND vs BAN: India’s Likely Playing 11 against Bangladesh

IND vs BAN: Shami IN Bumrah OUT, India's Likely Playing 11 against Bangladesh | India vs Bangladesh ODI World Cup 2023

Rohit Sharma might think of resting Jasprit Bumrah following three back-to-back games early in the ODI World Cup 2023. It’s important for the team to look after the players who have just recovered from a long injury layover. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah fits into that category and Team India can’t afford to lose him at any point.

So he might be replaced by Mohammad Shami, who is quite hard to leave out of the team. Unfortunately, with India’s requirement for deep batting, all-rounder Shardul Thakur takes precedence over Shami, which is quite unfair. But such is team dynamics currently.

In another change, depending upon the behavior of the playing surface, Team India may look to replace Shardul Thakur with spinner R Ashwin, who last played against Australia in Chennai.

India’s Likely Playing 11: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur/R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah/Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj.

India so far has thumped Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Now it’s time for IND vs BAN, which will be played in Pune on Thursday (19th October). The two teams have played some blistering brand of cricket and of late Bangladesh has been over India as they have won 3 out of the last 4 games against them.

Why we said the spotlight will be Virat Kohli in IND vs BAN is because of his sensational record in Pune. The right-hander has been an absolute beast on that ground as he has smashed truckloads of runs there and has enjoyed batted in those conditions.

Virat Kohli’s record might be a sign of worry for Bangladesh as it might be an indication of what is to come. The batter has played seven innings at that venue and in those he has set the stage on fire with his consistent batting display.

Virat Kohli’s score at Pune read: 61(85), 122(105), 29(29), 107(119), 56(60), 66(79) and 7(10). He has an average of 64 and a strike rate of 91.99 at the venue. With the way he has batted, it won’t be a surprise if he ends up hitting a ton at the venue.

Indian team has been firing in all three departments. It’s a good sign for the team that all three departments are coming up together and helping the team win. Going into IND vs BAN, there will be two key players for India that might play a huge role.

One is skipper Rohit Sharma and the other is Jasprit Bumrah. Talking about the captain, he has shown signs of golden touch and is India’s leading run-getter in the World Cup. He smashed a ton against Afghanistan and scored 86 runs against Pakistan. He will be vital for India in the next game.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah by far has looked like the most settled Indian bowler. Despite the tracks being flat, he has showcased his skills and is the leading wicket-taker for India. All eyes will be on him as he heads into IND vs BAN.

NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of MA Chidambaram Stadium | New Zealand vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2023

NZ vs AFG: Tom Latham-led New Zealand will take on Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan in the 16th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 on 18 October at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai starting at 2:00 PM IST. A hot and overcast day awaits the New Zealand vs Afghanistan contest and this post covers the detailed NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The undefeated, undisputed, and consistent New Zealand have done nothing wrong on the ground in this tournament. They are making performances, team affords, and good decisions at the right times and the result is- they have won all of their 3 matches with domination.

Huge blow for them as Kane Willamson’s undisplaced fracture in his left thumb has once again forced him to sit in the dugout. His absence means Will Young will take over his place immediately, and Tim Southee is available and healthy, but with the extra preparation time, there is minimal need to rotate the bowlers in this game.

Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s century-opening stand was the cornerstone of Afghanistan’s victory the other night. The two had their third-century partnership in ODIs this year, trailing only Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma of India.

Afghanistan is anticipated to deploy the same lineup that defeated England in Delhi, barring any last-minute injuries. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who had scored the most runs for them in the competition, received a demerit point for hitting a chair and the boundary rope with his bat after being dismissed in the last match.

The stage is set for second-ranked New Zealand to take on 6th-ranked Afghanistan at Chennai. Down below is the NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of MA Chidambaram Stadium:

NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast

NZ vs AFG | Match 16 of the ICC World Cup 2023 will take place on October 18 (Wednesday) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The play begins at 2:00 PM IST.

NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of MA Chidambaram Stadium | New Zealand vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2023
NZ vs AFG Weather Forecast Of MA Chidambaram Stadium(weather.com)

According to weather.com, it is an overcast, hot, and humid day with a partially cloudy sky throughout the day in Chennai city of India. The weather forecast shows minimal possibility of rain during the game. The temperature of Chennai city will stay at 31°C for the most part of the day till the evening and drop further to 29-28°C at night.

There are ~2% chances of rain throughout the day. Humidity is in a higher range, hovering around 70-80%. Winds will gust toward the Northeast at the speed of ~18kmph during the day. Almost no rain interruption and we may enjoy a full 100-over game.

NZ vs AFG Pitch Report Of MA Chidambaram Stadium

The pitch at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium has a reputation for frequently offering a level playing surface that is advantageous to both batters and bowlers. A black soil pitch might be used for the NZ vs AFG game. However, because of the dry nature of the surface, spinners often have a little edge and Afghan spinners are on top of their forms. New Zealand have batting depth but they lack in quality spinning options and that where Afghanistan have a change to go top.

Now, if we speak statistics, in 36 ODI matches played at the stadium, the side batting first won 17 matches, and the chasing team won 18, while one game ended in a draw. The first inning’s total is often about 240.

ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table Updated (October 17) after South Africa vs Netherlands, Ranking, Netherland SHOCK South Africa, Highest Run Getter, Most Wickets

ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table Updated: In one of the key upsets of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, the Netherlands struck down South Africa in a very close contest held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharmshala on October 17. The Netherlands registered a win by 38 runs against South Africa in match number 15 and subsequently opened their account in the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table. This article will walk you through the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table Updated (October 17) after South Africa vs Netherlands, Ranking, Netherland SHOCK South Africa, Highest Run Getter, Most Wickets.

A seemingly hard pill to swallow for South Africa who were sailing smoothly on a winning momentum in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. After hunting down Australia and Sri Lanka quite easily in the first two games, no one would have thought South Africa to take this hit, but time and again a saying proves itself true, “Cricket is an unpredictable sport.”

Batting first, Netherlands notched up 245 runs in 43 overs following a short delay caused by rain in Dharmshala, which also cut short the playing time. Skipper Scott Edwards was the pick of the batters as he played a vital role in posting a defendable total with his unbeaten valiant knock of 78 runs in 69 deliveries.

Barring the Netherlands skipper, no other batter could find their feet against the South African bowlers, who looked in complete control during the first innings. None of the batters could score more than 30 runs, with the second-best score (29) coming from Roelof van der Merwe, a tailender batter.

The chase appeared quite simplified for the Proteas, who had achieved several historic feats in the past with the packed batting lineup. Moreover, the presence of players like Quinton de Kock, David Miller, and Aiden Markram among others makes it even simpler.

However, who thought that a total of 245 runs would turn out to be a herculean task for the Proteas against the Netherlands? Right from the start of the innings, South Africa didn’t look settled as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

David Miller scored 43 runs and tried to stitch a partnership with Heinrich Klaasen, however, Logan van Beek came to rescue his side with the scalp of the latter batsman. Later in the innings, Keshav Maharaj and Gerald Coetzee tried to take the contest deep, but both the batters fell eventually, leaving South Africa in lurches.

South Africa could only amass 207 runs before they were bundled out by the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023 match number 15 in Dharmshala. The Dutch won by 38 runs and handed a humiliating loss to South Africa.

With the win, the Netherlands opened their ICC World Cup 2023 account. The Netherlands is currently placed in the penultimate position with two points from three games.
