Pakistan Schedule after Home Series Defeat against Bangladesh
PAK vs BAN: After Pakistan’s humiliating loss against Bangladesh in a two-match home test series, several Pakistani cricket legends have taken their toll on the Pakistani players as well as the PCB.
The second test loss of Pakistan to Bangladesh by 6 wickets marked Pakistan’s sixth straight loss in 10 home matches and their ninth continuous test loss as they remain winless for 1033 days now. After sharing his concern, Javed Miandad stepped forward with a comment.
Miandad claimed that it hurts to see Pakistan cricket come to this stage, while he also praised Bangladesh’s disciplined performance. The former test captain has shown disgust over their repeated batting collapses.
The second test match saw Pakistan make crucial changes to their team, as he dropped the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah and included the likes of spinner Abrar Ahmed. Despite having Bangladesh in a tough situation in the first innings as they were in trouble for 26/6, Litton with his splendid century and Miraz with his strong 78-run resolutely rescued them.
The Pakistan team collapsed in the second innings, this time to the Bangladesh pacers, as Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud, with 4 and 5 wickets, respectively, demolished Pakistan’s batting order and restricted them to a minor 172. With a 12-run lead from the first inning, they sported a target of 185 runs to Bangladesh as they batted carefully to take it home with a 6-wicket run chase.
“I wouldn’t just blame the players because whatever has happened in the board (PCB) in the last one and a half years and the captaincy and management changes have affected the team,” said the former Pakistan test skipper Javed Miandad as he chastised the management and tiffs inside the Pakistan dressing room for the loss of confidence and morale of the players.
Next to it, Inzamam u-Haq Pakistan’s all-format highest run-getter has slammed the batters, saying that they need to score runs more often and lead their team forward.
“If you can’t handle a bit of pace and movement even at home, then the future is not very bright for us,”
Said Ahmed Shahzad while he criticized their batters harshly
Also, some said that Pakistan lacks pacers like Imran Khan, Sohaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis, and hence they should nurture their spin talents, which are to be harvested in the future. It was Younis Khan who only stood behind the team as he identified their lack of morale and mental state going through such a bad phase.
Pakistan will resume their test match experience with Shan Masood as skipper against England at home on October 7th. This will be a three-match home series, and Jason Gillespie will be back after a brief holiday to his nation after both Gillespie and white ball coach Gary Kirsten have asked the PCB and the selectors to not make hasty decisions.
Brendon McCullum, the former New Zealand maestro, has extended his contact with the English Cricket Board until the end of 2027, and alongside the red-ball, he has now been appointed as the white-ball coach as well.
England has undergone a major strategic change in the longer format of the game, as he has evolved a new playing format, as the English have batted at a ferocious strike rate, as they evolved the Bazball technique.
Brandon McCullum has been appointed as England's new White Ball coach.
The signing of the contract until 2027, means McCullum will be in the role of England’s coach until the Cricket World Cup 2027 which will be held in South Africa. England has many crucial series like two T20 World Cups in 2025 and 2027 and also the World Cup in which Brendon will lead him.
However, for England’s series against the Aussies at home this summer and then later their Caribbean tour, Marcus Trescothick, the team’s interim head coach, following his duties as the former New Zealand great will begin his twin tenure from the beginning of 2025.

India will hold a white-ball series in their nation as the hosts before the ICC Champions Trophy which will be held in Pakistan at the end of February. The English red-ball coach has had considerable success with the red-ball team, as he has guided the English test revival and changed the format for the country.
Next in the WTC, England is expecting considerable success to turn the tables, as, despite their long seasons and the large number of matches they play, the team has failed to make it to the finals for both the previous occasions and is expecting better seasons ahead.
Brendon McCullum will probably be leaving England immediately after the end of the Sri Lanka series this week, and he will return to New Zealand for a brief holiday before he rejoins the test squad who will be touring Pakistan from the 7th of next month for an away series.
The ICC has finally made an official announcement on when the World Test Championship, WTC 2023-25 will be held. They have scheduled it to be held from the 11th of June till the 15th, with the 16th kept as the reserve day.
Currently, India and Australia are placed as the top two teams in the WTC points table, with 68.52 and 62.50 percentage points, respectively; however, no one has been fixed as the finalists as of yet.
India, who are the two-time losing finalists, had played the 2021 WTC final against New Zealand while Virat Kohli could not lead his team to glory. In the second cycle of the World Test Championship, India was again the table toppers, as they were at the top of the table before moving into the finals against the Aussie side.
The Australian young skipper, Pat Cummins, led his team to a major outing for the first time globally, while he emerged as a champion in the same, and they are hence the defending champions.

India have their next Test matches scheduled to be played at home against the visiting Bangladesh and New Zealand sides. Also, they have the highly anticipated red ball return awaited with the Border-Gavaskar series to be played in Australia, a series which they have won 3 times.
After Bangladesh’s historic title win against Pakistan, they have risen to the 4th position on the points table with a percentage point of 45.83. New Zealand, who have been placed in the No. 3 position with 50% wins, still remain in contention for the WTC final.
England, who are having an absolutely stunning summer, might look for a clean sweep in the test series against Sri Lanka and then also emerge further to the WTC final, though that is not recently in sight for them. They will next be touring Pakistan from October 7th, though the Asian giants have been practically ruled out of the WTC.
The summer will find Lord’s holding two of their test matches, as after the WTC final, the iconic English ground will hold the Third Test of India’s 5-match red-ball series that begins with Headingley in June.
Najmul Shanto-led Bangladesh secured a historic-series win against Shan Masood’s Pakistan on Tuesday, while Ollie Pope’s England reigned supreme against Sri Lanka on Sunday, leading to a lot of changes in the overall points table of ICC’s World Test Championship 2023-25.
In Pakistan’s Rawalpindi, the Bangla tigers celebrated a memorable series-victory as they chased down the target of 185 runs by six wickets and secured their first ever bilateral test-series win over the Shaheens. This was also the first Test Series victory of Bangladesh away from home since 2021 when they triumphed over Zimbabwe.

The Lord’s test match between Sri Lanka and England ended in four days, with the home side securing an easy victory by a margin of 190 runs.
Batting-first, the Three lions posted 427 runs on the board, with all-rounder Gus Atkinson bringing up his century by batting at number eight. Then they inflicted an all-out on the visitors for 196 runs and secured an easy lead of 231 runs. The home side then set a difficult target of 482 runs, which proved to be too much for the Asian team.
Ollie Pope and his men have secured an unattainable lead of 2-0 in the three match series, with the third and final match set to take place from the 6th of September onwards at the iconic Oval Stadium.
These match-results have created a lot of changes in the overall standings of WTC with Bangladesh moving to the fourth position, going past England, and now trail behind New Zealand, Australia and India. Their PCT of 45.83% is higher than England (45.0%).
Pakistan on the other hand continue to remain at the eighth place in the overall standings, above the Windies. The Green Shirt’s PCT has gone below 20%, currently 19.05% next to their name, after the series loss against Bangladesh.
The PCT of Ollie Pope’s England has seen improvisations, increasing to 45.0% from 41.07% following their win against Sri Lanka in the second test match. They are sitting at the fifth position, one spot over the island nation’s team.
PAK vs BAN 2nd Test: The Bangladeshi Tigers defied the odds, winning not just the matches but also the battle of character and resilience. This historic win, their first-ever Test series victory against Pakistan on their home turf, is a testament to a collective team effort.
The credit war might rage on, but what truly matters is how Bangladesh as a team roared together, marking their place in the record book of cricket history.

Pakistan has been convincingly outclassed on home soil by a side deemed weaker on paper. Babar Azam’s form has slumped, the top order lacks stability, and constant team changes are proving counterproductive.
The pace attack has been ineffective, and the absence of a dependable spinner is concerning. Shan Masood, the coaching staff, and the PCB have significant issues to resolve before England’s upcoming tour.
PAK vs BAN 2nd Test Match Summary
Opting to bowl first, Bangladesh’s bowlers immediately made their presence felt by dismissing Pakistan for 274 in the first innings, with Mehidy Hasan leading the charge with a superb five-wicket haul. Saim Ayub, skipper Shan Masood and Agha scored individual 50s in the innings.

However, Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble at 26/6 in their first innings. It was a crucial lower-order stand between Litton Das(138) and Mehidy Hasan(78) that turned the tide. Litton’s reviving century was instrumental in reducing the deficit to just 12 runs, keeping Bangladesh firmly in the contest.
In Pakistan’s second innings, Bangladesh’s bowling attack stepped up once more, this time spearheaded by the raw pace of Nahid Rana and the precision of Hasan Mahmud. The pair combined effectively to dismantle the hosts, claiming nine wickets between them and skittling Pakistan out for a modest 172. This left Bangladesh with a manageable 185 to chase.

Bangladesh’s chase got off to a solid start, with Zakir Hasan playing positively at the top of the order. Although a few quick wickets in the afternoon slowed the run chase, the experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim steadied the ship. Their composure and experience in handling pressure saw them home, clinching a historic series victory on Pakistani soil and underscoring their growing prowess in Test cricket.
Let’s take a look at the team scorecard of the PAK vs BAN 2nd Test:
(03 Sept) PAK vs BAN 2nd Test DAY 5: The ongoing 2nd Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is in jeopardy due to the threat of rain on the final day. The weather forecast for Rawalpindi predicts rain on September 3, which poses a challenge for both teams. Here we are with the Rawalpindi Weather Forecast, Expected Rain Interruption, and Full Weather Report of Rawalpindi Today.

Pakistan remains cautiously optimistic despite Bangladesh being in a favorable position in the Test match. Bangladesh requires only 143 runs to win the series and has all 10 wickets in hand. They will be hoping for the rain to clear as soon as possible, but that alone won’t guarantee a resumption of play.
Historically, it has taken a considerable amount of time to make the Rawalpindi Stadium fit for play after rain, so the grounds staff will need to be vigilant and ready to act swiftly if the weather improves.

The match began with Bangladesh winning the toss and opting to field first, inviting Pakistan to bat. Pakistan did not have a strong start, but steady innings from Saim Ayub and Shan Masood helped stabilize their innings. A well-played fifty by Agha Salman lower down the order guided Pakistan to a respectable first-innings total of 274.
While Pakistan’s batting was average, their bowling performance was exceptional. In the absence of key bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza stepped up, reducing Bangladesh to 26 for 6. However, experienced campaigners Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz mounted a crucial recovery for Bangladesh. Thanks to their outstanding efforts, Bangladesh finished just 12 runs short of Pakistan’s total in the first innings.

Watching Litton Das to bat on that surface seemed like the surface was very handy for batting but no, it wasn’t that good. Pakistan lost their two wickets in the span of just 3.4 overs at the end of DAY 3.
Pakistan’s performance in the second innings was below par, following an average showing in the first innings. The top six Pakistani batters managed to score only 64 runs combined. However, a determined effort from Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman helped them set a target of 184 for Bangladesh to chase.

When Bangladesh came out to bat, they attacked the Pakistani bowlers from the outset, quickly reaching 42 runs in just 7 overs without losing a wicket. It was at that moment when the two umpires conferred and decided that it was too dark to continue. The outcome of the match now hinges on the weather conditions in Rawalpindi today.
Let’s take a look at the Rawalpindi Weather Forecast, Expected Rain Interruption, and Full Weather Report of Rawalpindi Today:
PAK vs BAN DAY 5: Rawalpindi Weather Forecast
The PAK vs BAN second Test is being played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. It is been raining since the evening in Rawalpindi which implies that the ground will be wet and too much work for the groundsmen.
The temperature of Rawalpindi is expected to stay around 26°C and the wind will gust to the East with an average speed of 15kph.
Rawalpindi Weather Forecast and Rain Prediction
There is quite a high chance of rain during the first session. Over 90% rain chances till 11 AM and then the rain might reduce. It is expected that Rawalpindi weather may clear around 3 PM and then there are chances of some cricket action in the last session.
The proceedings of the fourth day of the ongoing second test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi’s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium got interrupted due to rain and the umpires decided to call an early stumps as Bangladesh ended day four with a score of 42-0 while chasing a target of 185 runs set by the Shaheens.
The Bangla Tigers need 143 runs to secure a historic test series win against the Shan Masood-led team. Opening batters Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam are still there at the crease and they will be keen on finishing things off quickly in tomorrow’s fifth and final day of the game.
Zakir has played the role of going after the Pakistani bowlers as he has scored 31* runs in 23 deliveries while Shadman on the other hand is batting at 9* runs in 19 deliveries and is keeping control of the other end.
Earlier in the day, the visitors inflicted an all-out on the home side for 172 runs after the seam bowling duo of Nahid Rana (4-44) and Hasan Mahmud (5-43) completely dominated the Pakistani batting unit with their pace and bounce as the batters were unable to find an answer against the sheer brilliance of the duo.
The Green Shirts started day four at the score of 9-2 and got off to a decentish start as captain Shan Masood (28 runs in 34 balls) and opener Saim Ayub (20 runs in 35 balls) got involved in a partnership of 38 runs for the third wicket.
However, things started to go downhill for Pakistan as Ayub departed after fast bowler Taskin Ahmed managed to dismiss him.
Captain Shan Masood followed suit as Nahid Rana sent him back to the dugout in the 17th over.
Following the dismissals of Masood and Ayub, experienced players Saud Shakeel (2 runs in 10 deliveries) and Babar Azam (11 runs in 18 deliveries) were expected to steady the sinking ship of Pakistan, but, Bangladeshi fast bowler Nahid Rana had some other plans as he got the better of both the batters in quick succession which made things even worse for the hosts.
Babar once again failed to convert his start into a big inning and this was his 16th inning without scoring a half-century in the longest format of the game.
The Shaheens were struggling at a score of just 81 runs at the loss of six wickets but the middle order duo of Salma Ali Agha (47 runs in 71 deliveries) and Mohammad Rizwan (43 runs in 73 deliveries) initiated the saviour act for their side and stitched a useful partnership of 55 runs for the seventh-wicket.
Just when it looked like the Green Shirts will get an opportunity to come back in the match, Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto handed the ball to 24 year old Hasan Mahmud and he repaid his captain’s faith in him as he went to dismiss Rizwan and Mohammad Ali in consecutive deliveries.
Nitesh Kumar India’s para-badminton player brings glory to his nation with second Paralympics gold.
India won several medals at the Paralympics 2024, as they have already been entitled to 9 medals, 3 more than Indian Olympic athletes won in an entire summer Olympics. Last time in Tokyo as well, India had a dream Paralympic campaign with 19 medals, of which they had a record 5 gold medals.
Indian para-badminton kingpin Nitesh Kumar clinched a gold in the SL3 category. The 29-year-old defeated the British shuttler, Daniell Bethell, in a very passionate contest against him in the three rounds, which he won 21-14, 18-21, and 23-21.

Nitesh is often known widely for his strategic implication, while the Tokyo Silver medalist won the first round comfortably, while the second round went against him, and he next finished the neck-to-neck final round with a win with his satisfying stamina.
Indian discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya also made India proud as he turned up for the silver medal. With only his first throw, he retained the silver medal position at the Tokyo Olympics. India can depend on para-badminton players, who will contest for five medal matches.
As the players of the event, Thulasimathi Murugesan and Suhas Yathiraj can be the gold medal contenders, while three others, Manisha Ramadass, Sukant Kadam, and Nithya Sre Sivan, will all be seen in a contest for the bronze medal.
Sumit Antil and Sandip Sanjay Sargar will be seen in the men’s javelin throw events, while the women’s discus throw final will have Kanchan Lakhani for the contest. Lots of hopes will be pinned on a mixed team of paraarchers, Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar, after Sheetal’s disheartening Round of 16 exit in the singles events.
PAK vs BAN: Pakistan is playing the second test match of the Bangladesh series also at Rawalpindi. They lost the first game by a humiliating 10 wickets to the Bangladesh team and were determined to win the match in order to tie the series.
Pakistan made many subtle changes to their squad, and even their top order contributed immensely to their team’s first innings, while even Salman Ali Agha later contributed to the team total with a fighting fifty.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has struck five times in the first inning, with Bangladesh also facing a tough situation in the first inning as they were 26/6 when Miraz came in to bat alongside Litton Das.
Both the Bangladesh lower-order batters played immensely well, as they had a 150+ run partnership between them to rescue Bangladesh. Miraz got out on 78 while Litton kept his end firm only to score a stunning hundred.
Das backed his team with his 138 and took Bangladesh to 262, a respectable total. In just the 22 balls bowled by Bangladesh at the end of Day 3, they reduced Pakistan to 9/2 while skipper Masood and opener Ayub came into bat on Day 4.
The Bangladesh pacers, Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, struck four times between them as Pakistan are in trouble again with 117/6 at lunch.
