KL Rahul dropped for 3rd ODI!!! Is Rishabh Pant the first-choice keeper for India for Champions Trophy 2025

0

KL Rahul has been dropped from the third and final ODI, and Rishabh Pant has replaced him. The third ODI started with Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka winning the third consecutive toss in the series.

Once again, Sri Lanka decided to bat first. The hosts got off to a brilliant start that one could have asked for. They had an 89-run opening stand, then they had an 82-run stand for the second wicket. Sri Lanka were at 171/1 at one spot.

But the Indian bowlers bounced back pretty well and restricted the hosts to 248/7 in the first innings. Avishka Fernando missed out on a well-deserved century by just four runs and got out for 96 runs. Debutant Riyan Parag took 3/54 and became the 7th Indian bowler to take a three-wicket haul in his debut.

IND vs SL: India dropped KL Rahul from third and final ODI

KL Rahul dropped for 3rd ODI!!! Is Rishabh Pant the first-choice keeper for India ahead?
KL Rahul

India stuck with the same team in the first two games, but they made two changes to the playing XI. Arshdeep Singh was replaced by Riyan Parag, but KL Rahul was dropped as India picked Rishabh Pant in his place. Rahul hasn’t been in his good form, as he failed in the first two matches. KL Rahul scored 31 runs in two innings.

India failed to get runs from the middle order in both matches. The 32-year-old was in excellent form during the ODI World Cup 2023 and was one of the top scorers in the tournament. Rahul, who secured a place during Pant’s absence after donning the gloves, needs to grab opportunity whatever he gets.

India are preparing for the coming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and India don’t have many ODIs to play ahead of the ICC title. Pant is the first-choice keeper in T20Is and Tests, but India stuck with KL Rahul in ODIs. So there will be tough competition between Rahul and Pant in ODIs.

Hence, it is too early to say who is India’s first-choice keeper. But one thing is sure: KL Rahul needs to do well whenever he gets a chance. Already, the competition in the Indian middle order is very tough, and there are already so many players coming up the ranks.

SL vs IND 3rd ODI: SRI LANKA vs INDIA! Here we are on the last match of the India Tour of Sri Lanka 2024. With the series in line, India and Sri Lanka will try to put forth their best to secure the 3rd ODI in their favor. This post reads the SL vs IND 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction, Strongest Playing11s, Full Squads, Streaming, and Broadcasting Details.

The home side Sri Lanka are leading the series with a 1-0 scoreline after two matches. Shivam Dube was the man who took Team India to a tie from a closing defeat in the first ODI. However, batting second at R Premadasa Stadium is one of the toughest jobs, and India still managed to tie the first ODI.

The loss in the second ODI was kind of an eye-opener for the Indian team that they are lacking in batting techniques and leaking too many runs to the lower order of Sri Lanka. The unsettled batting order can also be an issue for the not-so-convincing batting performance.

There are more possible chances of changes in the playing 11 in the last ODI as there is a bigger picture in front of the Indian Cricket team and management. The involvement of players during the practice sessions is an indication that there are going to be a couple of changes in the playing 11 of India.

Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh didn’t bowl in the practice session and this might be sign to try Khaleel and Harshit Rana in the last ODI. Rishabh Pant was also noticed playing spin for some time.

Vinesh Phogat enters the finale of the Paris Olympic 2024 – Confirms Silver

0

India has not had the most successful Olympics in Paris this summer; however, the 11th day has been one of India’s best days in the events with Vinesh Phogat recording history in the Olympics. Many Indian players have lost close bronze medal matches over the course of the last 10 days, especially in events like shooting and archery.

The most successful campaigner of India from the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra, who went on to win the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw, entered the track today with many hopes and huge dependency over his shoulders. The Champ did not receive any more than a single throw, which was a record in the qualification round. With an 89.34m throw, he encrypted yet another entry into the final round, which is to be scheduled on the 8th of August.

The Indian Men’s Hockey team has been another major highlight, and in the ongoing match, Harmanpreet has led India to a lead in the beginning minutes against Germany in the semi-finals. If they can win this game, they will fix India’s second silver in the Paris Olympics.

Recently, the biggest highlight has been Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who has created history as India’s first-ever wrestler to enter the Olympic finals.

Phogat started first with a Round of 16 encounter against Tokyo Olympics gold medalist wrestler Yui Susaki, who had an unbeaten record in the Olympics so far, with only 3 losses in 10 years. Phogat created history when she won the finest encounter of the women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling.

She next entered the quarterfinals, where she had to face a weaker opponent in Oksana Livach, as the Indian wrestler smashed the Ukrainian in a befitting contest to enter the semis. The semis awaited Yusneylys Guzman, who didn’t seem the toughest among all opponents for the lady who just smacked the defending Olympic Champion. In a much-anticipated game, Vinesh thrashed her opponent 5-0 to finish her bouts and enter the Finals.

Phogat will now go on to feature in the finals tomorrow in Paris, which will be a debut for any Indian wrestler at an Olympic final. The match is to be played against the USA’s No. 1 ranked wrestler in 50 kg women’s freestyle, Sarah Hildebrandt.

The game would be a hope for all Indians, and they would watch with their heads bowed down and hands joined to see the dream come true of India securing a gold in one of the root sports the country is known for.

However, Vinesh Phogat has already assured India of their first silver in this year’s Olympics, and if fortune favors the brave Phogat, she will be her dad’s pride, as Mahavir Phogat is one of the very men who claimed that he expects Vinesh to end his desire for an Olympic gold.

Neeraj Chopra: You beauty, India’s Olympic gold medalist, enters the finals with one throw at the Paris Olympics

0

India has not had as successful a campaign at the Paris Olympics as it had four years back in Tokyo with Neeraj Chopra winning a gold as well. India secured 7 medals in the games, which is the nation’s most successful campaign, with 2 silvers and 4 bronze medals and an Olympic gold medal from the unstoppable Neeraj Chopra.

Neeraj Chopra has been in the buzz since 2016 when he won the junior division world championship; following him came several opportunities, fame, and also immense media attention. However, all went cold after a few days, though Neeraj did not seem the athlete who could give up his passion for the game only for offered government jobs.

After that, he struggled but remained determined, and his efforts paid out loud. Let’s take a look at all the medals won by Neeraj Chopra aside from his triumph in the Tokyo Olympics with a gold.

  1. 2016: He first won the World Junior Championships at age 18 and followed that with his South Asian Games glory at Shillong and Guwahati.
  2. 2017: Neeraj earned his first gold at the Asian Championships at Bhubaneshwar.
  3. 2018: Next in line were the Commonwealth Games, and the Indian javelin athlete also secured a gold in the competition, while he earned his first Asian Games medal at Jakarta that year.
  4. 2020: After a period of injuries, he trained rigorously for the Tokyo Olympics and went on to secure India’s first-ever gold in field athletics.
  5. 2022: A silver at the World Championships in Eugene, a second Asian Games gold, and a Diamond League gold medal added only greatness to Neeraj’s career.
  6. 2023: After a 2023 Diamond League silver, Neeraj once again bounced back to secure his first-ever gold at the World Championships.
  7. 2024: Neeraj will lead India’s 29-member athletics team and will defend his gold from Tokyo. Neeraj, who contested from Group B after India’s Kishore Jena faced a crushing defeat from Group A, made his first throw of 89.34, a monstrous throw that itself earned him a straight entry into the finals to defend his gold medal.

He left behind A. Peters from Granada and was the second-best thrower with 88.63. Neeraj will now contest for his gold medal spot in the final event on the 8th of August.

India’s other big update is in 50kg women’s freestyle wrestling, as India’s Vinesh Phogat defeated Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Yui Susaki of Japan to enter the quarterfinals. This is itself something great that has been acquired by the Indian wrestler while she will be back in action for the semifinal round after she secured a win against Ukrainian wrestler Oksana Livach in the Quarter-final.

3 Key Player battles to watch out for 3rd ODI

SL vs IND: It is time to gear up for the third and final ODI game between Sri Lanka and India. The hosts have shown a great performance so far, and they have a 1-0 lead in the series. They will eye for a historic series win over India at home since 1997.

But it won’t be easy, as India will come prepared and will look to overcome challenges they had in the series so far. So, we can in for an exciting SL vs IND clash on Wednesday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Both teams have some key batters and bowlers, which will produce a thrilling battle. In this article, we will talk about the key player battles in the coming SL vs IND third ODI game, which can make a big impact in this game.

Three Key battles to watch out for in the second SL vs IND ODI

1. Rohit Sharma vs Dunith Wellalage

SL vs IND: 3 Key Player battles to watch out for IND vs SL 2nd ODI
IND vs SL

The Indian captain has been in great form in the ongoing SL vs IND series. He is the top scorer and has scored two consecutive fifties in the first two games. Rohit is scoring runs at a strike rate of 134.07, where other batters are struggling to score at 80.

That is why Rohit will be crucial for India at the top, and Sri Lanka would like to get him out early. Dunith Wellalage has bowled well against him so far. He dismissed the Indian captain in the first match as well and will be the bowler Sri Lanka will use against Rohit.

2. Virat Kohli vs Jeffrey Vandersay

Virat vs Vandersay SL vs IND
3 Key Player battles to watch out for 3rd ODI 10

Virat Kohli has scored only 38 runs in two matches so far this season. He has struggled to pick the spinners and got out LBW in both innings. He will have that in his mind as well and will try to make the most of the opportunity in the last match.

But his problem will increase when he faces the MOTM of the last game, Jeffrey Vandersay. The leg-break spinner was turning the ball very well in the last game, and Virat always has some weakness against leg-spin. So, this will be a battle to watch out for in the third SL vs IND game.

3. Kusal Mendis vs Washington Sundar

Sundar vs Mendis SL vs IND
3 Key Player battles to watch out for 3rd ODI 11

A lot will depend on how Kusal Mendis will bat. He is the best batter for Sri Lanka and has gotten starts in both games. He will have the responsibility to lead the batting unit, as other batters in top order are struggling to do so.

But he has found it tough to bat against Washington Sundar. The Indian spinner dismissed him in the last game. Sundar bowls with a very tight line and makes it tough for the batters. So, he will look to dismiss Mendis again in the final SL vs IND ODI.

Still in the hunt for their fourth medal, India enters the 11th day of the Paris Olympics – ft. Neeraj Chopra

India has sent a fair enough contingent of 129 members to the Paris Olympics, with PV Sindhu and Sarath Kamla being the Indian flag bearers. The most trustworthy name among all is India’s Golden Boy from the Tokyo Olympics—Neeraj Chopra.

India has always been seen to have made their way into the Olympics, with events like badminton, wrestling, and often rifle shooting. The highly anticipated athletes for the Paris Olympics were Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Manika Batra, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, the India skeet mixed team, TT player Sarath Kamla, and many wrestlers as well.

India set records in the Paris Olympics.

  • Manu Bhaker becomes the first Indian women shooter to win a medal at the Olympics.
  • Manu Bhaker also becomes the first ever Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympics for Independent India. She has won two bronze medals in 10 meter air pistol in both singles and mixed team events.
  • India won their first medal in a mixed-team shooting event with Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh.
  • Indian TT stars Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula emerged as the first players from India in the sport to have made it to the Round of 16 (or pre-quarterfinals) in the Olympics.
  • The men’s hockey team also ensured glory as they defeated the Australian hockey team for the first time in 52 years. Next, they made it to the semi-finals after defeating Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
  • Manu Bhaker lost the 25-meter air pistol, as she stood fourth while so did Lakshya Sen in the bronze medal match at badminton singles.
  • Star boxer Lovlina Borgohain lost her quarterfinal and left the events with a heavy heart.
  • Swapnil Kusale won India’s third bronze medal at the Paris Olympics in men’s 50m rifle shooting, which is India’s record third medal at the same events in the Olympics.

  • Kishore Jena, the Olympic debutant, will step in the same event from Group A.
  • Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat will be first among the Phogat sisters if she can bring an Olympic medal to India.
