Suryakumar Yadav on verge of breaking Rohit Sharma’s All-time IND vs SL T20I record

0

IND vs SL: The start of the three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka is just a few hours away. This will be the first series for Suryakumar Yadav as the permanent captain of the Indian T20I side. He, along with new head coach Gautam Gambhir, will start a new chapter. So it will be a memorable series for Suryakumar Yadav, and he will look to make it special.

The first IND vs SL game will get underway at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The baton has passed on from Rohit Sharma to Suryakumar, and India are looking to build up a team for the future. That is why this series is very important. Not just as a captain, Suryakumar also has a big record on his mind as a batter in the IND vs SL series.

IND vs SL: Suryakumar Yadav is on verge breaking Rohit Sharma’s big record

IND vs SL Suryakumar Yadav is on verge breaking Rohit Sharmas big record
Suryakumar Yadav Rohit Sharma

Suryakumar Yadav is India’s best T20I batter, and after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he will have a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. India want him to play well and take the team to win. But the Indian captain will also eye a big record.

The rivalry between India and Sri Lanka is very old, and former Indian captain Rohit has scored most runs for India against Sri Lanka in T20Is. He scored 411 runs in 19 matches at an average and strike rate of 24.17 and 144.21, respectively. The top six Indian batters in IND vs SL T20Is are not part of this series.

Then comes Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian captain has played just five innings and scored 254 runs at an average of 63.50 and a strike rate of 158.75, with one century and two half-centuries. He needs 158 runs to become the leading Indian batter with most runs in IND vs SL T20Is. Former Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka is at the top with 430 runs.

With the form he is in, he can do it. Adding to that, Suryakumar Yadav has a chance to regain his No. 1 ranking in T20Is. He is currently No. 2 behind Travis Head. If he can do well, he can regain his top position.

IND vs SL 1st T20I: Strongest India Playing 11 against Sri Lanka Prediction

IND vs SL 1st T20I: The India tour of Sri Lanka 2024 is set to commence today on 27th July at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. This tour will mark the debut of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of Team India and Surya Kumar Yadav as the Captain of the team. Here we are to discuss the Strongest India Playing 11 for the IND vs SL 1st T20I.

This series might not hold that significance internationally, but this is very important for India and Indian Cricket as this is the debut series for the newly appointed head coach of India- Mr. Gautam Gambhir, and T20I skipper Surya Kumar Yadav.

Now this is official with ESPNcricinfos info that Surya is picked over Pandya as Team India skipper
IND vs SL 1st T20I: Strongest India Playing 11 against Sri Lanka Prediction 5

India, the world T20 champions, are set to march on the T20I route without the services of former skipper Virat Kohli and World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma. With the new generation taking over, this will be their first test under the leadership of star batter Surya Kumar Yadav.

While looking at the other side of the ring, we have Sri Lanka. To be honest, the last one year or two have been absolutely unsettling for the Sri Lankan Cricket Team. They were pathetic during the ODI World Cup last year, Asia Cup 2024 before that, and also in the T20 World Cup. They never looked like a proper team in all those tournaments.

Let’s discuss the Strongest India Playing 11 for the IND vs SL 1st T20I:

IND vs SL 1st T20I: India Playing 11

India went with some confusing selection strategy for this T20I series where they haven’t selected many star players like Kuldeep Yadav, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Abhishek Sharma. First of all, let’s take a look at the Indian squad:

Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Rishabh Pant(wk), Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Khaleel Ahmed, Shivam Dube

IND vs ZIM: Jaiswal sets a new record in international cricket in the ongoing 5th T20I
(Image: Moneycontrol)

Now, with this combination, it is clear that Gautam Gambhir and the present committee are trusting on Shubman-Yashasvi opening combo. There is no backup for them as well. They might be followed by Shivam Dube at number 3 as India did during the T20 World Cup 2024.

The skipper should bat number 4 as he is one of the most stable batsmen at this number for India in the past couple of years. Wicketkeeper batter Rishab Pant should be batting at number 5. The captain and Gautam Gambhir have to make a hard choice between Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Riyan Parag and we think Rinku Singh is winning the race for 6.

3 Players who can captain India in Rohit's absence for Sri Lanka ODIs
IND vs SL Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya will be certainly on the playing 11 and he will definitely bat much higher than number 7. Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi are going to make it to the starting 11 surely and Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh should be the final two on the list.

Probable India Playing 11

Shubman Gill
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Shivam Dube
Suryakumar Yadav
Rishabh Pant
Rinku Singh
Hardik Pandya
Axar Patel
Ravi Bishnoi
Mohammed Siraj
Arshdeep Singh

Women’s Aisa Cup 2024: INDIA IN FINAL! India Women defeated Bangladesh Women and Qualified for the Finals

0

Women’s Aisa Cup 2024: India have done it again! India Women are the team to play the final of each and every edition of the Women’s Asia Cup till now. India Women defeated Bangladesh Women by 10 wickets to enter the Final of the Women’s Aisa Cup 2024.

India hilariously dismantled yet another opponent to cruise into the final of the Women’s Asia Cup. Throughout the tournament, any team daring enough to face the Indian Women got a metaphorical pie to the face, with Bangladesh Women being the latest victims. It’s like India has been hosting a comedy roast, and every opponent just happens to be the punchline!

Women’s Aisa Cup 2024: IND-W vs BAN-W Match Summary

Apart from losing the toss, everything went India’s way today. Renuka Thakur Singh started strong by dismissing Bangladesh’s top three batters cheaply. The 2018 champions struggled with their batting, barely finding any boundaries or managing to rotate the strike.

Only Nigar Sultana and Shorna Akter reached double figures. Skipper Sultana posted 32 runs and it was really a must for Bangladesh then. Radha Yadav finished the innings with a double-wicket maiden, and India held Bangladesh to 80/8.

The chase was smooth for the defending champions, with Smriti Mandhana hitting several boundaries and helping India achieve more than half the target within 5 overs. Jahanara thought she had Mandhana caught at backward point on 35, but she had overstepped significantly.

Shafali Verma, who wasn’t at her best today, was dropped in the next over. Both ended the game without any damage where Mandhana finished in style with three consecutive boundaries, reaching her fifty and leading India to victory with 9 overs to spare.

Women’s Aisa Cup 2024

Mandhana played a brilliant knock but it was Renuka Thakur, who set it up for India right from the first over of the game. She was rewarded with player of the match and she totally deserved this.

Second Finalist?

India Women are the first finalists and they will be waiting for their opponents for the title. The second finalists will qualify for the title shot after defeating their opponents in the second semifinals.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are the second semifinalists and the winner of the game will walk to the finals against India Women.

3 Key Player battles to watch out for in 1st T20

0

IND vs SL: The three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka will begin on July 27 (Saturday). The opening game of the series will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium at 7 p.m. in the evening. Two new captains with a number of youngsters will come face-to-face with each other.

Both sides have some really good players who will make this game an interesting one. These two teams have a number of star batters who can change the game on their own. But there are good bowlers as well. So we will have a number of key matchups in the first IND vs SL clash on Saturday. In this article, we will talk about three player battles in the coming game.

IND vs SL: Three Player battle to Watch out for in the first T20I

1. Suryakumar Yadav vs Matheesha Pathirana

IND vs SL Three Player battle to Watch out for in the first T20I
IND vs SL

The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav will have the responsibility of taking Indian batting forward. He is India’s best T20I batter, and with the added responsibility of captaincy, he is expected to deliver a good performance. He is very good player of spin, and that will be useful in Sri Lanka. But he will be facing Sri Lanka’s best pacer, Matheesha Pathirana. He is not easy to line up because of his slingy action. Hence, this will be a pretty good battle between two stars. Pathirana dismissed Suryakumar recently in the IPL 2024.

2. Shubman Gill vs Maheesh Theekshana

India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill will be another important batter for India. He is in good form and knows that he wants to solidify his place at the top. Hence, he will be looking to perform. Gill was the top scorer in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. But he will be facing Maheesh Theekshana. The veteran spinner is brilliant at home and has different variations to deceive any batter. He has bowled six balls to Gill in T20Is and dismissed him once already.

3. Kusal Mendis vs Mohammed Siraj

IND vs SL Mohammed Siraj vs Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis is Sri Lanka’s best batter in the last few years. He has scored most runs for them across formats since 2023. He is also pretty consistent and is coming off a good LPL 2024 season. Sri Lanka will hope that he can do well in the first IND vs SL game and help the team get off to a good start. But he will be facing Mohammed Siraj, who has gotten the better of him many times. Siraj has troubled Mendis a lot. In international cricket, Siraj has bowled 29 balls to Mendis and conceded only nine runs and dismissed him four times, which is excellent by Indian pacer.

IND vs SL: Which players will be Head Coach Gambhir’s top 3 choices to watch out for in the Sri Lanka tour to be picked in the Indian pace attack for the Champions Trophy?

0

IND vs SL: India has been in the buzz over their participation in the Champions Trophy, which is to be held in Pakistan. With several iconic players from the rival nation urging the BCCI and the Indian players to take part in the Champions Trophy in Karachi, there has not been any confirmation about the same from the BCCI.

New India head coach, Gautam Gambhir, will be looking for a new appointment in the pace bowling department, especially when India’s leading World Cup wicket-taker, Mohammad Shami, has been injured since he participated in the World Cup 2023, where he broke records with sizzling efforts.

Shami’s participation is sceptical, while Gambhir has picked some fresh faces for the Sri Lanka tour, which will be the only series played under subcontinent conditions. Gambhir has picked four pacers: Mohd. Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and youngster Harshit Rana.

Top 3 pace bowlers likely to be picked for the Champions Trophy

Mohd.Siraj

The Indian pacer was a part of India’s World Cup squads in both the ODI World Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup 2024. Though Siraj was a big disappointment in the ODI World Cup in India, he was not included much in the XI in the USA T20 World Cup.

Siraj was one of India’s finest pacers until last year, and despite his major drop in form, Gambhir would still look to test him and have his experience used in white-ball cricket at the Champions Trophy.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh was India’s highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup, where India emerged champions. Singh will also be the highlight under Gambhir for the ODI series, as he targets the next level.

The lanky left-arm pacer is ideal for swinging the ball on both sides and is versatile with his bouncers as well as occasional yorkers, which leaves the Batters baffled. He can likely be placed as the top choice paired alongside Jasprit Bumrah.

ALSO READ: IND vs SL: Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube: Who will be the most likely player at No. 6 for India? Likely all-rounder Gambhir will opt for in the Sri Lanka T20s

Harshit Rana

The KKR fame pacer had a splendid season with Knight Riders in IPL 2024; he was their highest wicket-taker among pacers, and in the very first international tour of Gambhir, he was picked by the Indian team.

Rana has the pace that Gambhir often likes in limited-overs cricket, and if Shami India’s best 50-over bowler misses the Champions Trophy, the pacer is ideal to be his replacement if he can continue his prowess at the international level. Rana is a promising youngster and can be looked at as a future prospect for the Men in Blue alongside Arshdeep Singh.

IND vs SL: Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube: Who will be the most likely player at No. 6 for India? Likely all-rounder Gambhir will opt for in the Sri Lanka T20s

IND vs SL: With likely a day and some more left for Gautam Gambhir’s first major international breakout series as team India’s head coach, there remain some likely changes that Gambhir is set to make in the first T20s.

Though Gambhir has not kept many choices in the opening batters, as he has only included Yashasvi Jaiswal and vice captain Shubman Gill as openers. With the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad not being picked, there remains no contention for the opening spots.

Moreover, after the return of India’s lead wicketkeeper, Batsman, Rishabh Pant, and new Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, the middle order is likely to be set. Also, with Hardik Pandya back into the side since the T20 World Cup, he will be the probable no. 5.

But what about the No. 6 position? This has been an issue for the Indian side as several experiments have failed in the position. However, Gambhir has come up with 4 likely options who can be featured at no. 6 for India in T20s.

Two of the main contenders for the position would be Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube. Rinku performed overwhelmingly well, and he did nothing wrong to be excluded from the T20I World Cup squad, but he was. Rinku, who did not have a very good season with KKR, was again included in the T20I squad, and he is more proficient in the batting department as compared to his biggest contender, Shivam Dube.

ALSO READ: IND vs SL: Huge Setback; After Dusmantha Chameera Sri Lanka’s Best Pacer ruled out of coming T20I Series

Dube was a part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad in the United States, and though he was not a major contributor in the tournament, he has been retained by Team India in the format to feature further with the Men in Blue. The dynamic all-rounder is mostly considered a big-hitting batsman, and if his bowling does not promote him further, then Rinku is likely to be chosen over the CSK finisher.

Also after veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja retired from international T20s after India’s World Cup triumph, India might again look to feature two spin-bowling all-rounders and likely another spinner in the form of Ravi Bishnoi.

With his dominance with both the bat and ball, Axar Patel will remain one of the most assured players in the shortest format, as he is known for his batting prowess, as he can often be promoted up the order, either to secure wickets or to enhance the flow of runs. With such a capable all-rounder by their side, India and Gambhir would also like to feature the man of the series from the Zimbabwe tour, Washington Sundar.

The youngster has been a part of India for a long time now, especially since he has excelled in the shortest format of the game. The quality off-spinner, alongside his great batting consistency, would be the most likely player to step in the shoes of Sir Jadeja.

Overall, the Lankan tour would be seen as Gambhir’s first major breakthrough series, and hence this is the beginning of the Gambhir era, which will be foreseen for several remarkable changes with a title defense in sight for the T20 World Cup 2026.

IND vs SL: Huge Setback; After Dusmantha Chameera Sri Lanka’s Best Pacer ruled out of coming T20I Series

0

IND vs SL: We are just a couple of days away from the start of the upcoming three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka. The series will start on July 27, and all three matches will be played at Pallekele International Stadium. Sri Lanka announced their squad on Monday, which saw Charith Asalanka taking over the captaincy job. But yesterday, they faced a setback when experienced pacer Dusmantha Chameera was ruled out.

The 32-year-old suffered an injury which ruled him out. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) announced Asitha Fernando as his replacement. But it looks like, the hosts are having another issue as another pacer has been ruled out of the coming IND vs SL series. This time it is Nuwan Thushara, who has suffered an injury and will be missing the coming IND vs SL series.

IND vs SL: Nuwan Thushara ruled out of the coming T20I series

The reports confirmed that Nuwan Thushara sustained an injury to his left hand while practicing ahead of the coming IND vs SL series. It has come as a big setback because he is Sri Lanka’s opening bowler and he would not be taking part in the coming series.

This is the second injury in the camp in two days. The SLC has not confirmed any replacement, but soon they will have to do it. According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Mahinda Halangoda, who is a team manager, informed on Wednesday that he suffered a broken finger to his left hand, and it is severe enough to rule him out.

Sri Lanka had a horrible T20 World Cup 2024 where they couldn’t qualify to the Super 8. After that performance, captain Wanindu Hasaranga and head coach Chris Silverwood resigned from their positions. The hosts are building a new team, and the players who have performed in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League 2024 are part of the series.

On the other hand, the situation is pretty much similar with India, as after the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, India are trying to build up a team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played at home.

Indian veterans targeted by IPL franchises are likely to replace Ashish Nehra as Gujarat Titans’ head coach

0

This has been quite the buzz; alongside the mega auction, several team franchises are also looking to bring a major change in their coaching staff. The Gujarat Titans are reportedly one of the most famous franchises of the Indian Premier League since their debut in 2022.

The Gujarat Titans marked their debut alongside the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, and the Indian World Cup-winning bowler and one of the finest cricket analysts, Ashish Nehra, was drafted in as their head coach. Gary Kirsten, who was then included as the mentor, left the franchise before IPL 2024.

In their debut season, the Gujarat Titans were led by Hardik Pandya to a successful IPL trophy triumph. Then he led them to another successful season, as they went very close to defending their title before losing to Chennai Super Kings. However, after a disappointing season in 2024, when Kirsten and Pandya left the franchise, a new owner has reportedly bought the Titans, and hence both Nehra and Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, are to leave the franchise.

IPL and Indian team veteran Yuvraj Singh, who was last seen playing for the Indian Legends in the World Championship of Legends, has been in talks to join an IPL franchise in the role of a new coach, and the most likely team in the hunt is the Gujarat Titans.

For the Gujarat Titans, reports suggest that Nehra’s immense glory with the franchise will now be shut, as discussions over Yuvi have already begun. But all talks will look at the IPL owners meeting with the BCCI regarding the rules, especially with the salary purses and number of retentions.

Meanwhile, after leading India to a successful T20 World Cup title clinch, legendary Indian batter, Rahul Dravid is gearing up to make a comeback to the IPL. Dravid has played for years in the domestic league, from Challengers to Royals.

The veteran has been made many offers across T20 leagues around the world, and it seems likely that Dravid will be back as head coach of any one franchise in the IPL. With previous talks about a swap of roles, as Gautam Gambhir took charge of the Indian team after Dravid stepped down from the position of head coach, he is likely to fill in the void at the KKR camp after Gambhir stepped down from being their mentor before IPL 2025.

However, bad news for the defending champions, as recent reports suggest that if Dravid is back in the IPL, he would prefer to join his years-old franchise, the Rajasthan Royals, as they too look to replace Lankan veteran Kumara Sangakara.
