3 Changes India should make to Playing XI for 3rd T20 after Jaiswal and Samson joined the team

0

IND vs ZIM: After losing the first T20I against Zimbabwe by 13 runs, India made a stunning comeback and thrashed Zimbabwe by a massive margin of 100 runs. This is the biggest win by a visiting team in Zimbabwe. The young India posted the highest T20I total against Zimbabwe at 234/2. Everything went in favour of India, and they were very clinical in their performance.

Now the third game is scheduled to take place on July 10 (Wednesday) at Harare Sports Club. India should stick with their winning combination, but Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube have joined the team for the last three matches. Sai Sudharsan, Harshit Rana, and Jitesh Sharma will fly back to India. So we will talk here about three changes that India could make to their playing XI for the third IND vs ZIM game.

IND vs ZIM: Three Changes India can make to their playing XI for Third T20I

1. Jaiswal in for Sai Sudharsan

Yashasvi Jaiswal IND vs ZIM
3 Changes India should make to Playing XI for 3rd T20 after Jaiswal and Samson joined the team 4

Sai Sudharsan made his T20I debut for India in the second IND vs ZIM game on Sunday. But he didn’t get a chance to make any contributions with the bat. Unfortunately for the youngster, he needs to make way for other players because he was selected only for the first two matches. But the question is where Jaiswal will bat. However, India should go with Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma at the top, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill can bat at no. 3 or 4.

2. Shivam Dube in for Riyan Parag

Shivam Dube IND vs ZIM
3 Changes India should make to Playing XI for 3rd T20 after Jaiswal and Samson joined the team 5

India don’t have a seam-bowling all-rounder in this squad. So there is a good opportunity for Shivam Dube to grab his moment and show his all-round ability. He might make his place for Riyan Parag. Dube was part of the Indian team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and played well in the final. Riyan failed in the first game and didn’t get a chance in the second. So India can go with Dube and win the third IND vs ZIM game and give Riyan in one of the last few games.

3. Sanju Samson in for Dhurv Jurel

Sanju Samson IND vs ZIM
3 Changes India should make to Playing XI for 3rd T20 after Jaiswal and Samson joined the team 6

Dhurv Jurel hasn’t done badly as a keeper. But Sanju Samson is back, and he might be the first-choice keeper for India. Hence, Jurel might make the way for him. Samson was benched for the whole T20 World Cup 2024, but he is expected to get games here. That is what we can expect in the third IND vs ZIM game on Wednesday. If India win the next two, then they can rest a few players and rotate properly.

IND vs ZIM: Commandeering rise of Abhishek Sharma: From Duck at debut to a 100 in the next game

0

IND vs ZIM: India, the defending champions, faced a humiliating defeat in the very next game after their World Cup triumph to a petty team like Zimbabwe. The one who was largely blamed for it was India’s poor batting performance, as India has announced a very young bunch of cricketers for the Zimbabwe tour.

IPL 2024’s star performer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma, created a record for smashing the most sixes for SRH in an IPL season just aged 23. After this exceptional feat, he was announced as India’s first preference opener in the T20Is against Zimbabwe.

However, against the expectations of many, Abhishek got out early in the first game, as he went on to be only the fourth player in Indian history to get out on a duck on debut. Facing some criticism on social media, Abhishek also had chances of losing his spot in the starting XI as soon as Jaiswal landed in Harare.

However, putting criticisms to an end, the SRH star batted exceptionally well in the 2nd T20I. Putting on to bat first, India lost the wicket of their young skipper, Shubman Gill. However, after losing the skipper, Abhishek never seemed to lose his confidence as he wreaked havoc at Harare Sports Club.

Abhishek Sharma captivated the cricketing world and proved his prominence in the format with a stunning 46-ball 100 against Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20 international, breaking the ex-Indian skipper’s long kept record. After he got two lifelines from Wellington Masakadza’s poor fielding, Abhishek went on to score his stunning first ton in international cricket.

The six-hitting machine went on a superb spree at Harare, as he hit 7 fours and 8 sixes in his innings. After a debut duck, the new generation left-handed batter has responded very well to his criticism. With Abhishek’s 100, India went on to post a total of 234/2 in their 20 overs.

Alongside veterans Rohit, Virat, Raina, and senior players SKY and KL Rahul, Abhishek becomes India’s 10th batter to score a ton in T20 internationals. After his wicket, Gaikwad took charge with Rinku Singh‘s stunning 22-ball 48-run finish that guided India to a huge score at the Harare Sports Club.

IND vs ZIM: Samson, Jaiswal, and Dube will be expected to arrive soon in Harare to be available for the 3rd T20I

0

IND vs ZIM: The newly crowned champions India faced a major backlash as the visitors faced a crushing defeat to the underdog hosts in the first T20I. Zimbabwe one-sidedly dominated the Indians as the young Indian batters shepherded by Shubman Gill never seemed to settle in front of the Zimbabwe bowling attack.

IPL stars Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag, who seemed to be inevitable parts of India’s upcoming teams, failed miserably in their first outing at Harare. After veteran greats Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20 internationals, India will look to replace these greats in the shortest format of the game.

In the quest for a young team, the newly appointed Indian coach Gautam Gambhir’s substitute for the series VVS Laxman, has been provided with a relatively fresh bunch of players who are just keeping their foot at the international level. Led by Shubman Gill, India has fixed Abhishek Sharma as his opening partner, with Gaikwad coming in at no. 3.

This decision seemed wise as Abhishek could utilize the field restrictions largely; however, nothing happened as per plan, as the IPL star performer failed to add anything to the score.
After the entire Indian set-up, those who were not a part of the World Cup-winning squad underperformed in the opening match of the T20I series. The arrival of the three players who were a part of India’s World Cup-winning squad will be highly considered for a revival of form.

Wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, and India’s finishing all-rounder Shivam Dube have been named for the Zimbabwe tour. Following India’s delay in the Caribbean, these three Indian star cricketers failed to join Team India’s camp for the first 2 T20Is.

However, as per reports from The Hindu, all three Samson, Jaiswal, and Dube have taken their flight to Harare and will be joining the India camp ahead of the 3rd T20 to be played against Zimbabwe on the 10th of July.

Jaiswal can be seen as the first-choice opener alongside skipper Gill. Even the IPL veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, Sanju Samson, may find a role in the team as he can replace the underperforming Dhruv Jurel. With the lack of hitting prowess in the Indian lineup, even Dube may find his spot in the starting XI as soon as he lands in Harare.

With the better-off batters playing alongside them, even Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Abhishek Sharma will be hoping to find their groove with the willow. In the quest to defend their title in the T20 World Cup 2026, India is looking to build a squad that can be capable of the same.

MLC 2024: Smith leads by example in Washington Freedom’s rain-hit victory over defending champions

0

The MLC 2024 is underway, and MI New York initiated their campaign with a comfortable victory over the Seattle Orcas in the tournament’s opening game. However, in their second match against a reformed Washington Freedom side, they faced a major backlash earlier in the tournament.

Ex-Australian captain Steven Smith has been signed in as the new skipper for Washington Freedom for MLC 2024. After a T20 World Cup squad snub, the veteran batter would be looking to prove his worth in the format.

Washington Freedom won the toss and put the defending champions to bat on a sloppy track. The MINY side started on a weak note as their top-order tumbled with only Nicholas Pooran building a slight partnership alongside opener Clinton, who fell to Maxwell in the 8th over while looking to play an unconventional short.

Nicholas Pooran was the pick of the batters for MI New York, scoring 44 runs. While big-hitters Tim David and Kieron Pollard failed to produce anything, it took a 15-ball, 31-run knock from Afghan skipper Rashid Khan that took the defending champions to a fighting total of 154.

In reply to this, the Australian duo of skipper Steve Smith and, in form, Travis Head stepped in on the field for the Washington Freedom. The start was not convincing as Head fell to Ehsan Adil in the second over. Smith, alongside American World Cup star Gous, didn’t seem to get going until Nortje came to bowl in the powerplay. The Australian veteran took South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in the World Cup for 22 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes of him.

That is what got the Freedom scoreboard going, and Gous hit 2 consecutive boundaries of Rashid Khan to take Freedom to 55/1 in the 8th over when rain forced the players to head out of the ground. Lightning and thunder alongside dense showers denied further play, as the Washington Freedom had the final laugh as they secured a win over the defending champions with a 4-run advantage over the DLS par score. This is their first victory of the season under new skipper Steven Smith.

3 Key Player battles to watch out for in IND vs ZIM 2nd T20

0

IND vs ZIM: The first game between India and Zimbabwe was a shocker for the visitors, as they couldn’t chase down a below-par target and lost the game by 13 runs. It wasn’t a great start for Shubman Gill for his captaincy, as the batting unit failed miserably. But it is time to leave that behind and get ready for the second IND vs ZIM T20I match.

The second game is scheduled to take place on Sunday afternoon at Harare Sports Club. Once again, these two teams will be up against each other, and there will be some key player battles. Hence, in this article, we will talk about three key player battles in the second IND vs ZIM game on Sunday.

3 Key Battles to Watch Out for in IND vs ZIM 2nd T20

1. Shubman Gill vs Sikandar Raza

3 Key Player battles to watch out for in IND vs ZIM 1st T20
IND vs ZIM

Shubham Gill was the top scorer in the game with 31 runs. But he got out at the wrong time. Gill will still be a big wicket because he is someone who can take the game long. Hence, the Indian captain will be looking to take his team to victory, but he will be up against Zimbabwe’s captain, Sikandar Raza, who dismissed him in the first IND vs ZIM game. So this will be an important battle in the game between the two captains.

2. Sikandar Raza vs Ravi Bishnoi

Sikandar Raza will be a key player, not just with the bowl but with the bat as well. He won the Player of the Match award in the first IND vs ZIM game and showed why he is rated so highly. Zimbabwe failed with the bat, so Raza needs to take more responsibility. But he will be up against Ravi Bishnoi, who is bowling well and is not easy to pick. Bishnoi took 4/13 in the first game and will be bowling to Zimbabwe’s captain. So this will be an important player battle in the second IND vs ZIM game.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Blessing Muzarabani

Ruturaj Gaikwad is someone whom India can trust. He failed in the first game but will bounce back. He is an established batter and knows how to perform in tough conditions. So there will be a lot of hope for Gaikwad in this game. But he has to face Zimbabwe’s best bowler, Blessings Muzarabani. The tall pacer troubled Gaikwad in the last game and dismissed him. So that will be a great battle.

IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I: India have lost the first T20I of the five-match series and Zimbabwe has pushed back the World Champions 1-down in the opening match of the series. Here are the 2 possible changes that India might make for IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I.

India posted a mediocre batting display on 6th July at Harare Sports Club, Harare. They would have been happy to see just 116 on the board but Zimbabwe assured that it was enough for them to seal the deal.

Three players got to wear the Indian cap for the first time in the opening match of the series- IPL star Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel. All three had a debut not to remember.

Raza Stars as Zimbabwe Upset India In 1st T20I by 13 Runs | IND vs ZIM 1st T20I
Raza celebrating Gill’s wicket (Associate Press)

India bowled first and apart from Khaleel Ahmed who went expensive and wicketless, all the bowlers were up to the mark. Bishnoi took 4 men down, Washington was economical and got 2 wickets and other bowlers contributed too to restrict the home team under 115.

The chase started horribly as India lost their four wickets inside the batting powerplay with just 22 runs on the board. Shubman Gill(31), Washington Sunder (27) and Avesh Khan (16) were the only three batters to cross the 10-run mark.

Bowling was up to the mark but it was batting that let the Indian team down. There is a window for a couple of changes that can bring up the balance in the playing 11 of India.

Let’s have a look at the 2 possible changes that India might make for IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I:

2 Changes INDIA Might Make for IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I

1- Sai Sudharsan IN, Abhishek Sharma OUT

Abhishek Sharma is, no doubt, an excellent player top of the order and he is one of the best aggressive batters at the opening spot but the Indian team has an experienced option against him and that is Sai Sudharsan.

Sai has played for India in a 50-over game and he has delivered some great performances. Abhishek Sharma is, nevertheless, more lethal than Sai but the pitches there in Harare are a bit tacky and tricky so Sai would be a better option to bat.

2- Jitesh Sharma IN, Dhruv Jurel OUT

With almost a similar sort of skill set, the two wicketkeeper-batters Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel are having a bout for the wicketkeeping spot. Dhruv Jurel is a batter with better techniques but Jitesh Sharma’s game is by power.

At the number where these players are going to get chance to bat, most of the time, you need a power hitter and in that case, Jitesh is a better option than Dhruv.

IND vs ZIM: A win to remember for Zimbabwe. The hosts Zimbabwe have defeated India in the first T20I by 13 runs at the Harare Sports Club.

Sikandar Raza and the entire Zimbabwe were absolutely ecstatic with the last wicket fall. It felt like it was India’s game after the first innings but what Zimbabwe bowlers did in the second innings was simply exceptional.

IND vs ZIM Match Summary

Batting first, Zimbabwe got an early setback as Mukesh Kumar dismissed in-form Innocent Kaia in the first ball of the second over. Brian Bennett and Wessly Madhevere gave a good start to the team.

Ravi Bishnoi then came to bowl the last over of the Powerplay and bowled out Brian and Madhevere in his second over. Wicketkeeper-batter Clive Madande played an important knockdown the order of 29 runs and his valiant efforts put Zimbabwe to 115 mark.

Ravi Bishnoi was brilliant with the ball and so was Washington Sunder. Bishnoi picked up 4 wickets and Sunder took 2 at an economy of 2.80. It was all now on the batting and surely their eyes would have lit up as they have just 116 to chase in 120 balls.

Abhishek Sharma received his maiden call to the playing 11 and his debut was something he won’t be too happy with. He got out in the first fourth ball of the innings without scoring.

Shubman Gill held one end and wickets kept falling from the other end. India lost four wickets within the powerplay for just 28 runs. Skipper Gill played a 31-run knock he too got out after 10 overs when India were just 47 in total.

Raza Stars as Zimbabwe Upset India In 1st T20I by 13 Runs | IND vs ZIM 1st T20I

Avesh Khan played a cameo and pulled the lever towards India. He smoked 16 runs in 12 runs but Raza’s excellence and Chatara picked up wickets in line again and left India hung on a thin wire. Washington Sunder was the last hope standing for India and he tried hard in the end but Zimbabwe were too good in the last overs and bundled out India under 102 runs.
