IND vs SA T20 Records: It’s just a matter of a few hours now before Rohit Sharma-led Team India faces Aiden Markram’s South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The contest will be staged at the Kensington Oval, in Barbados on June 29, starting at 8:00 PM IST.

The two sides have had a near-perfect outing so far in the tournament that spanned nearly a month. While South Africa sealed the final berth after defeating Afghanistan in the first semi-final, India defeated defending champions England to confirm their spot in the final, last night.

Notably, South Africa has never won the ICC T20 World Cup title so far. In fact, this is their maiden stint in the final, breaking the long-standing jinx of choking in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Team India has won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007. They have been the runner-ups of the 2014 T20 World Cup and been to the semi-finals in the 2016 and 2022 editions.

It’s noteworthy that Rohit Sharma and his boys have played all three ICC finals in the past 1.5 years. India played the World Test Championship final against Australia in 2023, played the ODI World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad and now they stand against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

It remains to be seen how India and South Africa will play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 Final in Barbados on Saturday.

Let’s take a look at the IND vs SA T20 Records, India vs South Africa Head to Head, Most Runs by a Player, Most Wickets, Complete Details:

3 Key Player battles to watch out for in IND vs SA Final Clash

IND vs SA: The biggest game of 2024 is scheduled to take place on June 29. This will see a high-octane clash between India and South Africa on Saturday at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. These two have not lost a single game in this tournament, which is why everyone is expecting a great game of cricket in this game.

Both teams have a number of some of the best players in the shorter format. South Africa’s strength is their pace bowling, while India have a strong spin attack. That’s where we will see some key matchups in the IND vs SA final. These players used to play together and against each other a lot. That’s where both teams and their players know each other very well. Here we will talk about the key players battles in this IND vs SA final.

3 Key Battles to Watch Out for in IND vs SA Final Clash

1. Rohit Sharma vs Kagiso Rabada

3 Key Player battles to watch out for in IND vs SA Final Clash
Rohit Sharma vs Kagiso Rabada

Rohit Sharma‘s form is very crucial for Team India. He has hit two consecutive half-centuries in the last two games. He scored 92 against Australia and 57 against England, which puts India in front of the game against its opponent. He will also be trying to play one another good inning, which can help the team lift the trophy.

But he has struggled whenever he has played against Kagiso Rabada. The South African pacer has enjoyed bowling with him. Rabada has dismissed the Indian captain 13 times in international formats. In the IPL, Rabada has dismissed Rohit two times. So the Indian captain needs to make some plans against Rabada in the IND vs SA final.

2. Virat Kohli vs Marco Jansen

A big battle will be with the new ball when Virat Kohli faces Marco Jansen. The former Indian captain has been in poor form and has registered a number of low scores. In six innings, he has only scored in double digits twice. So if he gets out in the final, then India will be under immense pressure.

That’s where the role of Marco Jansen will be crucial in the IND vs SA final. Virat struggles against left-arm pacers who swing the ball in and out. And Jansen has that quality. He has also dismissed Kohli four times in international cricket, which has troubled him a lot. So, this will be a good battle to watch out for.

3. Quinton de Kock vs Jasprit Bumrah

The battle becomes crucial when two in-form players face each other. That’s where the next battle will be important. Quinton de Kock has been the best battle for South Africa in this tournament and has scored the most runs. Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s go-to bowler and has bowled a number of magical spells for India in this tournament.

Batters have found it tough to face Bumrah, but De Kock is not someone who will back down in this battle. So, with the new ball in the powerplay, these two will be up against each other. These two superstars have faced each other 17 times overall, and Bumrah has dismissed De Kock six times.

Rohit Sharma stands tall on his “50s & 100s don’t matter to me” statement as he achieves a historic feat in ICC knockouts

India captain Rohit Sharma achieved a historic feat in the ICC knockout games. He became the first batter in the history of the game to hit 100 boundaries in the Qualifiers, Semi-finals and the final of the events organized by the ICC.

Rohit achieved the feat in the semi-final 2 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 against England. The high-octane clash between the teams, which was also a rematch of the 2022 World Cup semi-final, took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday (27th June).

Rohit stepped up at the big stage for his team and made sure that he took his team to the winning total. After India lost Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant early, the captain took charge and batted with great responsibility.

List of Big Records broken in IND vs ENG Semifinal in Guyana

IND vs ENG: It was a clinical performance for India in the second semifinal against the defending champion, and they went on to take revenge for the 10-wicket defeat they suffered in the 2022 semifinal. The Indian side went on to thrash England by 68 runs at Providence Stadium in Guyana and made it to their third T20 World Cup final.

It was a good toss to lose for Rohit Sharma, and India batted first. Despite Virat Kohli getting out for yet another low score, India had a crucial 73-partnership for the third wicket between Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit scored 57 runs off 39 balls, and Suryakumar scored 47 off 36. In the end, Hardik Pandya (23 off 13) and Ravindra Jadeja (17* off 9) helped India reach an above-par score of 171/7.

It proved to be a massive task for England, as they couldn’t face the Indian spinners. Axar Patel (3/23) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/19) ran through the English batting and helped India win the IND vs ENG semifinal. There were a few notable records broken in this IND vs ENG clash, about which we will talk here.

Team India Bag Second Biggest Win in T20 World Cup History, Defeats England by 68 runs to seal Final berth | India vs England

India vs England: Rohit Sharma-led Team India has marched to the T20 World Cup 2024 Final following their sensational outing against England in Guyana, the previous night. India defeated England by a whopping 68 runs, which is also the second-biggest win in T20 World Cup history, at the Providence Stadium in the second semi-final on June 27.

The Men in Blue successfully avenged the Adelaide 2022 loss to England in the T20 World Cup and served them the same treatment by thrashing the Englishmen in the semi-finals.

India’s bandwagon was once again led by captain Rohit Sharma, who once again provided a strong start to the team. However, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant couldn’t add anything significant to the total. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma joined forces with Suryakumar Yadav to proceed with the innings and stitched a match-winning partnership of 73 runs.

The Indian skipper completed his half-century and departed, while Suryakumar Yadav fell just three short of his well-deserved half-century.

To add the finishing touch to the innings, the likes of Hardik Pandya (23 runs), Ravindra Jadeja (17* runs) and Axar Patel (10 runs) played a few handy knocks and led Team India to an above-par 171 runs total in 20 overs.

Post the batting innings, Team India weaved its spin web with three spinners operating. Sensational Axar Patel provided the first breakthrough in the form of Jos Buttler. Jasprit Bumrah chipped in to get the wicket of Philip Salt.

The opening two wickets set the tone for the rest of the innings. Axar soon again got into the act and was aided by Kuldeep Yadav from the other end. The two reduced England’s innings to 86 runs in the loss of 8 wickets in no time.

By this time, everyone knew what the result was going to be. To close things out, India removed the remaining two batters as England got bundled out at a meagre total of 103 runs. India won the contest by 68 runs, which also turned out to be the second-biggest win in the history of the T20 World Cups.

Biggest Wins in T20 World Cups

The list of biggest wins in the T20 World Cup history features the fixture between West Indies and Australia at the top. The Caribbeans registered a 74-run win over the Aussies in 2012 which is by far the biggest win margin for any side in the elite ICC competition.

India’s memorable day in Guyana against England places them in the second spot with a 68-run margin for the win to proceed to the finals. Below is the list of top 5 biggest wins in T20 World Cups:

1) West Indies beat Australia by 74 runs in Colombo, 2012

2) India beat England by 68 runs in Guyana, 2024

3) Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 57 runs in London, 2009

4) West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 36 runs in Colombo, 2012

5) Sri Lanka beat West Indies 27 runs in Mirpur, 2014
