T20 World Cup 2024 Points Table after BAN vs AUS |Australia Won by 28 Runs (DLS Method) | Updated Super 8 Points Table

T20 World Cup 2024: Opener David Warner played an impressive unbeaten inning of 53*runs in 35 deliveries for the Aussies which consisted of three sixes and five good looking fours. His fellow opening partner Travis also played a useful knock of 31 runs in 21 deliveries, while all rounder Glenn Maxwell played a cameo of 14 runs in six balls

Bangladesh’s leg spinner Rishad Hossein (3-23) claimed both of the Aussie wickets in the match as he dismissed the duo of Travis Head and skipper Mitchell Marsh in quick succession.

2021 T20 World Cup winners Australia successfully defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 28 runs (DLS-method) in match number 44 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

The rain-affected clash came to a halt when the Aussies were cruising to a dominating victory at a score of 100-2 in 11.2 overs of their inning while chasing a target of 141 runs set by the Bangladeshi Tigers. Since the rain lasted for a really long time and the Kangaroos were way ahead of the par DLS score by a margin of 28 runs, the match officials decided to grant the victory to the Mitchell Marsh-led team.

Opener David Warner played an impressive not out knock of 53*runs in 35 deliveries for the Aussies which consisted of three sixes and five good looking fours. His fellow opening partner Travis also played a useful knock of 31 runs in 21 deliveries, while all rounder Glenn Maxwell played a cameo of 14 runs in six balls.

Bangladesh’s leg spinner Rishad Hossein (3-23) claimed both of the Aussie wickets in the match as he dismissed the duo of Travis Head and skipper Mitchell Marsh in quick succession.

Earlier in the match, Mitchell Marsh won the toss and asked the Tigers to bat first.

The Mitchell Marsh-led team successfully restricted the Asian team to a below par total of 140-8 thanks to the outstanding bowling display from Pat Cummins. The star seamer bagged an impressive hat-trick and ended the match with figures of 3-29 next to his name.

The 31 year old bagged the wickets of Mahedi Hasan and Mahmudullah on the final two deliveries of the 18 over of the Bangladeshi inning. Cummins accomplished his hattrick on the first delivery of the 20th over as he sent Towhid Hridoy back to the pavilion.

3 Massive Records broken in IND vs AFG Super 8 Match on Thursday in Antigua

IND vs AFG: Match No. 43 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was played between Idnia and Afghanistan at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Thursday. This was the first match of Group 1 in the Super 8, and Team India registered a clinical win. It was a special effort from the team, as they went on to win the game despite the failure of the top order.

India outplayed Afghanistan in both departments and registered a morale-booster win to get two important points on the board. Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah were the main contributors for the Indian team. There were some key records that were achieved in the IND vs AFG clash. In this article, we will talk about three major feats achieved in the IND vs AFG Super 8 clash in Antigua.

3 Big Records achieved in IND vs AFG Super 8 clash on Thursday

1. Most T20I Runs for India

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed yet again at the top. Rohit made 8 runs off 13 balls, while Virat played a knock of 24 runs off 24 balls. However, with this innings, Virat has overtaken the Indian captain and has now become the leading run scorer for Team India in the T20 internationals. Ahead of this tournament, Virat was the leading scorer in this format, but he failed in the first few games. Virat, with 4066 runs, is second highest after Babar Azam (4145).

2. Most Man of the Match in T20 Internationals

Virat Kohli holds the record for the most Man of the Match in the shorter format. He has won 15 MOTM awards in 120 matches so far. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 53 runs off 28 balls in the IND vs AFG clash, was adjudged Man of the Match. It was his 15th MOTM award in his career. With this, he equalled Virat. Interestingly, SKY has taken only 64 matches to win 15 MOTM awards, while Virat has almost played double.

3. Most consecutive wins for India in T20Is

It was the fourth win for Team India in the T202 World Cup 2024. One of their games was washed out due to rain. But overall, India have registered eight wins in a row. This is now the third-longest winning streak for the Indian team in the shorter format. Their longest winning streak in T20Is is 12 matches, which they made between November 2021 and February 2022.

The performance of the Pakistan team in the T20 World Cup 2024 was disappointing, after which the team was eliminated from the tournament in the league stage itself. Pakistan played its first match in the league stage against the United States in which USA defeated the Men in Green by five runs in the Super Over.

Pakistan’s second match in the league stage was played against neighboring country India, in which Rohit Sharma and company defeated Pakistan by six runs in a low scoring match and showed Babar Azam and company the way out of the World Cup 2024.

However, Pakistan emerged victorious from the World Cup 2024 campaign, winning the third game against Ireland by three wickets and the tournament league finale against Canada by seven wickets.

Full List of Bowlers with Hat-trick in T20 World Cup History | Australia’s Pat Cummins joins the list | AUS vs BAN

AUS vs BAN: Australian pacer Pat Cummins has etched his name in the record books of the T20 World Cup after he became the latest entrant in the list of bowlers with a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup history. Cummins achieved this feat on June 21 during his side’s Super 8 fixture against Bangladesh at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Pat Cummins produced a sensational effort over the course of two overs in his final spell against Bangladesh. The seasoned pacer picked up the scalp of Mahmudullah in the penultimate delivery of the 18th over and doubled it down with a wicket of Mahedi Hasan for a duck in the next delivery.

With two wickets in the final two deliveries of his 18th over, Cummins was set for a hattrick ball in his 20th over. He walked in for his last over and picked up the wicket of well-set Towhid Hridoy (40 runs in 28 deliveries) in the first ball of the over to complete his hat-trick.

Pat Cummins became the seventh bowler to pick up a T20 World Cup hat-trick and only second Australian after Brett Lee. Interestingly, Brett Lee’s hat-trick spell came in the 2007 T20 World Cup against the same opponent – Bangladesh.

The mighty Australians, meanwhile, restricted Bangladesh to a meagre total of 140 runs in 20 overs during their Super 8 fixture in Antigua. The sensational effort in bowling led by Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa, who scalped 2 wickets, helped Australia contain the opposition to a low total.

Towhid Hridoy, who became the last wicket for Pat Cummins to complete his hat-trick, remained the top scorer in the innings with 40 runs in just 28 deliveries. Skipper Shanto played a decent innings of 41 runs in 36 deliveries, which led Bangladesh to 140 runs.

In response, Australia has so far done exceedingly well. The openers provided a solid start with a partnership of 65 runs for the opening wicket. Travis Head fell at an individual score of 31 runs following which Mitchell Marsh was also dismissed for a mere 1 run.

However, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell have kept the scoreboard ticking with their sensational strokeplay. Warner is currently unbeaten at 53 runs in 35 deliveries, while Maxwell has hit 14 runs in 6 deliveries. Rain has, meanwhile, halted the play at a score of 100/2 in 11.2 overs.

Team India posted a massive 181-run total after winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The proceedings were yet again begun with skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opening, however, none of the two batters could play break their shackles.

Rohit Sharma perished in the 3rd over against Fazalhaq Farooqi, while Virat continued to bat as he paired with Rishabh Pant. The two added 43 runs to the total before Pant was dismissed. Soon Kohli also departed with his run-a-ball 24.

Suryakumar Yadav once again shone and prepared a launchpad for India’s innings. The batter scored a sublime 28-ball 53 before getting dismissed in the 17th over. Meanwhile, for a brief period, SKY partnered with Shivam Dube (10 runs) and Hardik Pandya (32 runs).

While Dube couldn’t get his mojo as he got trapped lbw by Rashid Khan, all-rounder Hardik Pandya did play some shots and accelerated India’s score with his 24-ball 32. To finish things off Axar Patel added handy 12 runs in 6 deliveries to post 181 runs.

Pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and skipper Rashid Khan scalped three wickets each and Naveen ul Haq also got one in his bag.

With 181 to chase, Afghanistan needed a solid show at the top order. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel spoiled the plans by providing three initial breakthroughs inside the powerplay. The likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai were picked by Bumrah and Axar got Ibrahim Zadran in the 4th over.

Gulbadin Naib (17 runs) and Azmatullah Omarzai (26 runs) rescued the innings, but they too couldn’t hold their nerves for long as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav struck with two wickets in consecutive overs.

With half the team already in the hut, Afghanistan was close to a tormenting defeat. But, they somehow survived till the end. The likes of Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed played some shots, but the effort was too minute in front of the gigantic task they had in front.

Eventually, Afghanistan lost the contest by 47 runs as Team India restricted them to a score of 134 runs in 20 overs. Afghanistan had lost 9 of their wickets during the process.

Both Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman are likely to be appointed by BCCI as the report makes a massive claim

The Indian head coach post is keeping everyone excited. Two of the greats of Indian cricket Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman reportedly were interviewed by the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Tuesday (18th June).

There were reports that Gautam Gambhir was the only candidate for the post of head coach but on the day of the interview it was revealed that WV Raman also is in contention to replace Rahul Dravid as head coach of the team.

However, as per the reports in News 18, it is learned that BCCI might sign both candidates. They are keen to utilise the services of both the players. The source claimed that Gautam Gambhir might be the head coach while WV Raman may come in as the batting coach. He stated:

“The Indian cricket board must look at utilising the services of both Raman and Gambhir. There are numerous ways in which one can do that – say have Gambhir as head coach and Raman as batting coach or allow Raman to have more say in red ball. Lot of ways one can use them because both can benefit Indian cricket and that’s what one should look at.”

The announcement for the head coach of the India team is likely to be made soon; Gautam Gambhir to be named head coach

WV Raman has a huge amount of coaching experience. He coached Tamil Nadu and Bengal in the domestic circuit. Apart from that he also served as an assistant coach in the IPL for the PBKS and as a batting coach for KKR.

Apart from this, WV Raman was also part of the Indian coaching setup Indian women’s cricket team. He served as the head coach from 2018 to 2021. It remains to be seen who will be part of the coaching setup for the Indian team.

The announcement for the head coach of the India team is likely to be made soon. It is expected that the announcement will be made before the T20 World Cup concludes. The new head coach will be taking charge of the team for the Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe tour.

3 Reasons why Afghanistan can beat India in IND vs AFG Super 8 game in Antigua

0

IND vs AFG: The Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be another big clash on Thursday. This time, Team India will lock horns with Afghanistan in match no. 42 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. This is the first game in Group 1, and a win here will set the tone for the coming games, while a defeat will put the team in a must-win situation.

The Indian team have a great record against Afghanistan and will start the game as favorites. But they can’t take Afghanistan lightly because they have also played pretty well in this tournament. Afghanistan have not won a match against India yet, but they are the giantkillers and have all the ingredients to beat India. So it won’t be a surprise if they win this IND vs AFG clash. Here, we will talk about three solid reasons why Afghanistan can win this match.

IND vs AFG: Three Reasons why Afghanistan can beat India in Antigua

1. Well-suited Spin Attack

Afghanistan have probably one of the best spin attacks in the tournament. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Noor Ahmad bowl 10–12 overs of quality spin. On the other hand, India played their group matches in New York, where the pitches were good for the pacers. That means Indian spinners will go into the IND vs AFG game a bit underprepared. So that can be a challenge. Because India don’t have good players of spin in the middle overs.

2. In-form Opening Pair

1000021974
Credit: Google

The pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran is the backbone of Afghanistan. These two added two 100-run stands in the first two games of the tournament. These two are also among the highest scorers in the tournament. So if they pull off yet another good opening stand in the IND vs AFG match in Antigua, they can put India under pressure. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have failed to give India good starts in this tournament. So if we look at the form, Afghanistan’s openers have an edge.

3. Conditions in Favour

It is not a wrong statement to say that the playing conditions play a major role in the result of any match. And that can become a major factor in the IND vs AFG. The Indian players played their group games in New York, where the conditions were really bad for batting, and they struggled. But the conditions in Antigua will be totally different, and they need to adjust them quickly. Players like Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Sanju Samson, and Mohammed Siraj have not played many games in West Indies. On the other hand, Afghanistan played all four matches in West Indies, and they will have a better knowledge of the conditions than the Indian players.

IND vs AFG: Team India are all set to start their Super 8 journey on Thursday. They will face Afghanistan in match no. 43 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. India will also be facing Australia and Bangladesh need to win two games at least to make it to the semis. That’s why the IND vs AFG clash is very important. Though Afghanistan have never beaten India in a match across formats but India can’t take them lightly after the way they have performed in this tournament.

Afghanistan finished second in their group and beat New Zealand comprehensively. Adding to that, their bowling attack is well suited for the conditions, and they have the skills to beat any team on their day. Afghanistan have already given tough times to India in the past and have come close to winning some matches. That’s what former Indian selector and 1983 World Cup-winning member Kris Srikkanth also said recently.

There will be a few areas that Team India need to address ahead of the IND vs AFG game. The form of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is a concern, while Indian spinners didn’t have enough gametime so far. Meanwhile, Afghanistan have played their four games in West Indies and have a better knowledge of the conditions here. Kris Srikkanth also highlighted that Afghanistan’s bowling unit is in great form.

In an interview ahead of IND vs AFG clash, with Star Sports, Srikkanth said, “You can’t take things lightly against Afghanistan. They have a good team and a terrific bowling side. So, I was the Indian captain, if I was Rohit Sharma, I would like to bat first. Don’t let Afghanistan bat first because if that happens, they will score around 160–170 and their bowlers are good enough to maybe defend the total.” The 1983 World Cup-winning member also added that Afghanistan have a slightly weaker batting attack and India can pounch on that.

Notably, India and Afghanistan have played eight games in T20Is, and India have won seven of them, while one ended with no result. The last game between the two was a tie, and India won the Super Over. Afghanistan have an excellent spin attack with Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Mohammad Nabi, while Fazalhaq Farooqi is in excellent form with the new ball. So they will pose a big threat to India. So it will be an exciting game between India’s batting and Afghanistan’s bowling.
