IND W vs RSA W 2nd ODI: Who Will Win the Match?

0

IND W vs RSA W 2nd ODI: The women’s teams of India (IND W) and South Africa (RSA W) are set to take on each other in the second One Day International match of the three match ODI series at Bengaluru’s iconic M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. The match will take place on 19th June and it will commence at 1:30pm IST.

The Women in Blue registered a dominating 143 run win against the Proteas in the first ODI thanks to the superb efforts of Smriti Mandhana (117 runs in 127 balls) with the bat and Asha Sobhana (4-21) with the ball and gained a 1-0 lead in the three match series.

Smriti’s knock of 117 runs consisted of one six and 12 fours while the duo of Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma applied the finishing touches to the Indian Batting inning as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team managed to post a good looking total of 265-8 on the board after the end of 50 overs. South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka was the best bowler for the Proteas as she ended the match with figures of 3-47 next to her name.

This first ODI against the South Africans was the debut game of Asha Sobhana and she made an instant impression with figures of 4-21 next to her name and registered her first four wicket haul in One Day Cricket. The South African batting unit didn’t have an answer to the brilliant bowling of the Indians and they got bundled out for a mere score of 122 runs and eventually lost the match by 143 runs.

With the second game set to be played at the same Stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur and company will be looking to seal the series with a win while Laura Wolvaardt and her girls would like to bring an end to the Indian domination and level the series.

Ahead of the second ODI, let’s take a look at the team which might have an upper hand to win.

Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is well known for its batting friendly and flat surface and it’s basically a batting paradise and a nightmare for the bowlers. The short boundaries makes it easier for the batters to score runs and contributes to the stadium’s history of high scoring matches.

In the first One Day International between India women and South Africa Women, the home team took full advantage of the conditions on offer and posted a really good total of 265 runs on the board. But, things might change in the upcoming second match of three match series as the surface is expected to be a balanced one which means it will provide an equal amount of support to both the batters and the bowlers which will ensure that a thrilling and entertaining contest will be taking place at this ground in the second ODI. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team have participated in 13 one day international matches at this ground and have finished victorious on seven occasions.

IND W vs RSA W: Head-to-Head records in One Day Cricket

The Women’s teams of India and South Africa have faced each other in 29 ODI matches and out of these 29 games, the Women in Blue have finished out on top on 16 occasions while the Proteas have won on 12 occasions. One match between the two teams got washed out due to rain.

IND W vs RSA W 2nd ODI: Who Will Win the Match? 3

India’s star opening batter and vice captain, Smriti Mandhana, can once again prove to be the best batter in the second One Day International match against South Africa. The 27 year old is in a rich vein of form currently and she scored a really crucial match winning hundred in the first ODI of the series. This century was her sixth in one-day Day Cricket and first at home. Her knock of 117 runs in 127 balls saved the home team from suffering a batting unit collapse after choosing to bat first in the previous match. She is a player to watch out for and can once again pose a threat to the Proteas bowling unit.

Best Bowler of the match (Predicted): Asha Sobhana

Leg spinner Asha Sobhana can once again prove to be the best bowler in the second One Day International match against South Africa. Hailing from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the leggie outsmarted the entire South African batting unit with her unreadable leg spin deliveries and ended with four wickets in the previous game and also proved to be economical as she gave away just 21 runs. With her mystery spin, she can prove to be a huge threat for the opposition batting unit in the upcoming match.

USA vs SA: Dream11 Prediction, South Africa Playing11, USA Playing11, T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 America vs South Africa Fantasy Team, Sir Viv Richards Stadium Pitch Report

USA vs SA: Dream11 Prediction: The T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 begins today i.e., June 19, 2024. The first fixture of the Super 8 will see USA take on South Africa at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The match starts at 8:00 PM IST or 10:30 AM Local Time Zone.

There were not many people, even experts, who anticipated the USA to proceed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. I do not remember a single name that had thought the USA could pull off a brilliant run in the group stages, but they are there among the eight happy teams in the Super 8s.

One has to admit that the USA got support from the weather in Florida in the match against Ireland to qualify for the Super 8s. Still, it’s not to cast any aspersions on their encouraging run so far in the tournament. They humbled Canada and Pakistan in back-to-back matches as a part of their wins. Their only loss came against India, followed by a washed-out game against Ireland.

To beat a team like Pakistan requires strong effort and resilience. They had to not let it slip away at any moment throughout the game and then to shine in the super over, it was nothing but a sensational effort from the Americans. They would hope to continue their winning run and take on South Africa in their next challenge.

South Africa is one of the teams that got 4/4 in the first round of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Protea got better of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal during the first group stage to comfortably seal a place in the Super 8s.

Though they got 4/4 in the first round, not one of them came convincingly. The batters don’t seem to have got their mojo so far in the tournament with the pitches offering a lot of assistance to the bowlers. It remains to be seen how they turn up against the unfancied USA on June 19 at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium.

Let’s take a look at the USA vs SA: Dream11 Prediction, South Africa Playing11, USA Playing11, T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 America vs South Africa Fantasy Team, Sir Viv Richards Stadium Pitch Report.

The pitch has completely outplayed the batters at this venue. It has favoured the bowlers and is anticipated to continue doing so. Bowling first has been the key with three out of four wins in the tournament coming while chasing. The forecast shows a hot and humid day in business for the players. Some showers are predicted as well in the evening, but it won’t last long.

“2 Separate teams for Test, ODIs, Full Authority,” demands Gautam Gambhir to accept Team India’s head coach’s offer: Reports

0

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is, reportedly, in its conclusive stages of finalising Gautam Gambhir’s name for the head coach’s role in the Indian team. The decorated cricketer and 2011 World Cup-winning player has, though, kept a few demands in front of the BCCI in his bid to lead the Indian team as their next head coach following the completion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The latest reports added that Gautam Gambhir has asked for the full authority of the team along with the demand for separate teams for the white ball and red ball format of cricket.

The demands are reportedly agreed upon by the BCCI office bearers, who seem to have been impressed by Gautam Gambhir’s attitude and zeal to lead the side.

Interestingly, Gambhir was slated to visit the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on June 18 for an official interview for the post of Team India’s head coach.

“Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) will be travelling today to Mumbai around 12 pm for the interview at BCCI Headquarters. It is almost confirmed that he is going to be the next head coach as the BCCI has agreed to the terms he presented for the head coach. The new head coach of the men’s cricket team will soon be revealed. The meeting is scheduled between 2-4 pm,” a source privy to BCCI told IANS.

The incoming head coach would replace incumbent Rahul Dravid for a period of three and a half years, starting from July 1st 2024.

Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach began back in 2021 after Team India’s exit from the 2021 T20 World Cup under Ravi Shastri. He led India to the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2023 and even to the knockout stages of the T20 World Cups.

Rahul Dravid’s original tenure ended with the completion of the ODI World Cup 2023, however, he was provided an extension until June 2024 keeping in view the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, this time Dravid hasn’t sought any extension and has made his decision to call it quits.

Gautam Gambhir to officially become India’s head coach: Reports

"Separate teams for Test, ODIs," demands Gautam Gambhir to accept Team India's head coach's offer: Reports
Image: IPLT20

The BCCI began its hunt for a new head coach with a notification release with a deadline of May 27. A string of former cricketers were reportedly approached including the likes of Ricky Ponting, Stephen Fleming, Gautam Gambhir and Justin Langer among others, who all rejected the proposal due to an insane amount of workload.

Eventually, the name that kept ringing in everyone’s mind was Gautam Gambhir, who successfully plotted the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) win to the IPL 2024 Final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

When enquired about his views on coaching Team India when the talks were ongoing between him and the BCCI relating to Team India’s head coach position, he said, “I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well.”

Now if everything becomes official and the BCCI announces him to be Rahul Dravid’s successor, Gautam Gambhir will begin his stint with Team India on July 1st, 2024. He will also have to quit his IPL duties with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to a conflict of interest clause mentioned in the BCCI rule book.

5 Players to Watch Out for in T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8

1. Jasprit Bumrah (India)

Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah has an incredible record in West Indies. He has bowled well in these conditions and is at the top of his game. Bumrah will be looking to carry on the momentum and contribute to India’s win. He has taken 7 wickets in three games at an economy rate of 4.09. He is surely one bowler who will pose a threat to any batsman in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

2. Nicholas Pooran (West Indies)

West Indian superstar Nicholas Pooran registered the highest individual score of this tournament in the last group match. He smashed 98 runs off 53 balls and was unstoppable. He will surely be one big player to watch out for. These are his home conditions, and he comes with a fearless approach. Pooran has already scored 164 runs at a strike rate of 150.45. Hence, he will be an exciting player to watch.

3. Travis Head (Australia)

Travis Head has been the big match player for Australia, and he has been in red-hot form at the moment. With 148 runs in four innings, he has already shown some glimpses, and he can be destructive in the second half of this tournament. Head is someone who can destroy any bowling unit on his own. That’s why he can be a game-changer for Australia in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage.

4. Heinrich Klaasen (South Africa)

Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the best strikers of the ball in modern-day cricket. He was in good form for SRH in the IPL 2024. Klaasen has played some good innings so far but has not registered a big score because the conditions were not good. But in the West Indies, teams will prefer spinners, and Klaasen is very dangerous against spinners. So it won’t be a surprise if Klaasen breaks some records in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage.

5. Jos Buttler (England)

Jos Buttler was a key reason that England won the T20 World Cup 2024 in Australia. He was in great form and scored consistent runs. He entered with good form under his belt. Buttler is one of the best T20I batters at the moment, and a lot of England’s chances depend on him. The English captain will be a big wicket for the opposition because he can single-handedly win games for his team.

Injury Scare for India; Suryakumar Yadav gets hit at nets ahead of Super 8 clash vs AFG in T20 World Cup 2024

0

Suryakumar Yadav: Team India entered the T20 World Cup 2024 as one of the top contenders, and they have played like one so far. The Men in Blue had their last group match washed out against Canada, but before that, they had a good game against the United States, where Suryakumar Yadav got back into form with a good fifty. Team India have made it to the Super 8 and are placed in Group 1 along with Australia, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

India will play their first Super 8 game on June 20 (Thursday) against Afghanistan at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. Though India are in a slightly easier group but nothing can be said in the T20 format. The Indian team is sweating hard at the nets to be ready for the coming games. The bowling unit has done a tremendous job, and the batters will be looking to stay in good form in the coming games. However, ahead of India’s first game, the team suffered a massive blow on Monday during the net session.

India will be favourites going into their first game against Afghanistan on Thursday, but just ahead of their first Super 8 game, India suffered an injury scare. Star batter Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed a match-winning fifty in the last game against the USA, has been hit on the hand while doing batting practice on Monday. He was hit while taking throwdowns at the net. Senior journalist Vikrant Gupta shared the pictures on his official Twitter (now X) handle.

Suryakumar Yadav was seen applying the magic spray to his hand and taking a small break. Though he was back on the net after some time but India will be hoping for him to stay 100 percent fit for the next game. The Indian top order has not done well in this tournament so far. Rohit Sharma scored a fifty in the first game and then failed in the next two matches, while Virat Kohli had only five runs in three innings. In such a case, India need Suryakumar Yadav to be fit for the coming games. He is an excellent player of spin, and Afghanistan’s spinners will be a big challenge for India.

India dominated their group and finished at the top with 7 points. Apart from Afghanistan, India will face Australia and Bangladesh on June 22 and 24, respectively. The Men in Blue have not won an ICC event since 2013, which is why this tournament is very important for them. They can close the last two events but lost the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and World Test Championship against Australia.

West Indies vs Afghanistan Match Review: T20 World Cup 2024 Points Table [Updated on 18 June] after WI vs AFG Match Number 40

West Indies vs Afghanistan: Match number 40 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 ended with two time champions West Indies securing a huge 104 runs win against Afghanistan at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground of St Lucia on 18th June. The co-hosts posted a mammoth total of 218 runs on the board and this was just the third time in the tournament that the 200 runs mark was breached by a team.

West Indies vs Afghanistan Match Review

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and chose to bowl first as his team had won majority of their matches due to their superb bowling efforts and the thinking was the same in this game as well but it turned out to be the wrong decision as the Windies batting unit went berserk and posted a huge total of 218 runs courtesy of a really entertaining 98 runs knock by Nicholas Pooran along with some quick innings from the trio of Shai Hope, captain Rovman Powell and Johnson Charles.

The bowling attack of the Afghans was not at their best against the hard hitting batters of the Rovman Powell-led team and they wouldn’t have hoped for such a poor performance just before the Super 8 phase of the T20 World Cup.

Gulbadin Naib was the best Afghan bowler of the night as he picked up two important wickets and gave away just 14 runs in the process as well. The duo of Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq were on the expensive side but picked up a wicket each while Noor Ahmed bowled in an economical manner as well. Rashid Khan had a really poor outing with the ball as he failed to pick up even a single scalp and gave away 45 runs

During the chase of 219 runs, the Rashid Khan-led team didn’t look comfortable at all in the middle and in the end lost the game by 104 runs. The Asian team were dealt an early blow as the highest run getter of the current edition of the T20 World Cup, Rahmanullah Gurbaz got dismissed for a duck in the very first over of the Afghanistan inning. His opening partner Ibrahim Zadran took matters in his own hands and played some really good looking strokes in his knock of 38 runs but got dismissed at a really wrong time.

Following Zadran’s dismissal, the middle order was expected to keep their side in the chase but except Azmatullah Omarzai, no other batter was able to create a match winning impact with the bat and Afghanistan suffered a middle order collapse which has been a problem for them since a really long time. Rashid Khan did play some lusy blows but by the time he came to the crease, the game was over for the Asian team.

The West Indies bowling unit were outstanding with the ball from ball one as they inflicted an all-out on Afghanistan for a mere total of 114 runs. Left arm spinner Akeal Hosein got the better of Gurbaz in the first over and helped his side get the momentum in the game. The Asian team built a decent partnership of 45 runs for the second wicket but spinner Gudakesh Motie broke the partnership.

Obed Mccoy, playing his first match of the tournament was really good as he chipped in with three scalps while Akeal Hosein from the other added yet another scalp to his wicket tally. Alzarri Joseph finished the match with one wicket next to his name before Andre Rusell applied the finishing touches by getting the final wicket of the match.

IND vs AFG: Amid poor run in T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli comes up a massive step to regain his form

India batter Virat Kohli has been going through a torrid run of form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. It has been a massive concern for the team as their premier batting scoring runs might cost them going ahead into the Super 8 stage.

Coming into the World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli was expected to set the stage on fire in the tournament. He played sensationally well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as he was the leading run-getter in the tournament, playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli scored 741 runs in the IPL 2024 while opening the innings. And coming into the World Cup, he was offered the opening role. But the move so far hasn’t paid off as he failed in the entire league stage of the tournament while batting at the top.

Virat Kohli scored 1 run in the game against Ireland and followed it up with a 4-run knock against Pakistan. To worsen the case for him, he then bagged a golden duck in the game against the United States of America, ending the league stage with just 5 runs.

Going into the Super 8 stage, Virat Kohli’s form will be a crucial factor for the team. He would be keen to perform and help his team get to the semi-final of the tournament. The pitches in the league stage also didn’t help him but with now India being in the Caribbean, it might be helpful for him.

After Boult, Kane Williamson also hints at T20I retirement after New Zealand’s group exit in T20 World Cup 2024

The Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team didn’t have a great campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. New Zealand’s early exit is one of the surprising moments of the group stage. They lost the first two matches against Afghanistan and West Indies, which was enough to kick them out of the tournament. Though New Zealand ended the tournament with two consecutive wins, it was too late for them.

New Zealand’s exit has certainly raised questions about the senior players of the team. The veteran left-arm pacer Trent Boult also announced that this was his last T20 World Cup for New Zealand. He played his last match against PNG on Monday. After his decision, some questions were also asked from Kane Williamson about his retirement plans or how long he will serve New Zealand in the shorter format. However, the captain was unsure about anything.

T20 World Cup 2024: Kane Williamson is unsure about T20 World Cup 2026.

Not many thought that New Zealand would be eliminated from the group stage. They are one of the most consistent teams in the ICC events. Under Kane Williamson, New Zealand reached three white-ball ICC finals in the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups and then in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Then, he also led New Zealand to win the inaugural World Test Championship in 2021. But here, New Zealand’s campaign ended very early.

During the press conference, he was asked whether he would return to the next T20 World Cup in 2026. He was asked, “When asked if he’d return for the 2026 edition, Williamson answered, “Oh, I don’t know.” This was the worst tournament for New Zealand under Williamson. This was the first time in the last decade that New Zealand couldn’t make it to the semi-finals of the white-ball ICC event. Meanwhile, Boult has already confirmed his retirement plans, and all eyes will be on Williamson.

However, Kane Williamson talked about this campaign and pointed out where they lacked. He said that it was frustrating that after only two games they were eliminated, and he highlighted that the opponents in the first two games were equipped well as per the conditions. Williamson also added that the conditions were challenging, but the players would learn a few new things here and will be looking to apply them in the future. Furthermore, he said that there is a two-year time for the next T20 World Cup, and the team will regroup and come up with the best plan.
