Australia vs India: I wish my dad could see me playing: Mohammad Siraj

Australia vs India 3rd test match: Team India young pacer Mohammad Siraj was thinking about his late father when he broke out in tears while singing the National Anthem before the start of the third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Mohammad Siraj’s father left his family in November when Siraj was with Team India in Australia. The pacer stayed back with the team to fulfill his father’s dream of Siraj playing for India.

After the end of the play of Day 1 at Sydney Cricket Ground, Mohammad Siraj was asked about the emotional moment when he was seen wiping off tears he said: “Just remembered my father at that time. I was really emotional. He wanted me to see playing Test cricket.

“Wish he could see me playing for India.”

Mohammad Siraj’s Father died late last year when the Australian tour just started. Siraj made his test debut against Australia in the second game at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Siraj was brilliant in his debut game picking a total of 5 wickets and he managed to pick David Warner in the SCG test early on.

Australia 166/2 at Stump’s on Day 1:

Before the stumps on Day 1, Australia seems to be in a good position at 166/2. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are still in the middle with both looking in fine touch. Earlier debutant opener Will Pucovski struck a well-crafted half-century to provide Australia a solid opening stand.

“The wicket is fully flat. There is no movement and the surface is easy to bat on. We did not try much as this is an easy surface. Even the bouncers are not carrying as well it was in the earlier games,” said Siraj

“But Test cricket it is all about patience and we must keep that in mind,” he added.

Australia vs India 3rd Test Match: Team India’s pacer Mohammad Siraj breaks into tears while singing the National Anthem of India. Siraj was clearly into tears when both the teams came together to sing the National Anthem.

Siraj who is playing his second test match at Sydney Cricket Ground provided an early breakthrough to India by dismissing David Warner in just the 4th over of the game. On his debut at Melbourne Cricket Ground, the pacer bowled strictly to the line and lengths according to the field placement. He got 5 scalps on his debut game at MCG.

Mohammad Siraj lost his father late last year when he was in Australia, he chooses not to leave his team and play the games for his country. However, during the first game, a deadly bouncer struck Mohammad Shami’s arm ruling him out of the whole series, opened the doors for 26-years old pacer.

In the second test match, Siraj returned with 2 for 40 and 3 for 37.

I just want to fulfill my father’s dream: Mohd Siraj

“I wish that I continue to play for India and make India proud. I just want to fulfill my father’s dream and I will surely make that happen,” Siraj had said after his father’s death.

In the third Test at Sydney Cricket Ground, Tim Paine has won the toss and opted to bat first. They made two changes, brought in David Warner and Will Pucovski. The latter will make his test debut today.

India too made two changes, brought in opener Rohit Sharma and pacer Navdeep Saini in place of Mayank Agarwal and Umesh Yadav respectively.

Siraj sent David Warner back to dug-out in just 4th over, while the first session was washed out by rain.

Australia was 35/1 in 12.5 overs.

IPL 2021 trading window opens, IPL 2021 mini-auctions on 11 February 2021, India to host IPL 2021.

IPL 2021 mini-auctions: BCCI is almost certain to conduct IPL 2021 in India itself. However, the UAE will still remain as the back-up option for BCCI and will shift the IPL to the UAE if the situation gets under control.

In the recent meeting held between IPL governing council which was conducted virtually, all the officials agreed on India to host the upcoming season of IPL. The council also discussed the topic of player trade.

BCCI has ordered all the IPL franchises to release the players by January 21. The trading window is on according to the Mumbai Mirror.

IPL 2021 Mini-Auctions Details:

Further reports from Mumbai Mirror stated that the IPL 2021 mini-auction will be held somewhere in the second week of February – around 11 February.

Earlier, there were reports suggesting that BCCI might go for full-fledged auctions but now according to Mumbai Mirror, BCCI will be conducting mini auctions this time.

As per the reports, India is the priority for BCCI to host IPL 2021 but a lot will depend upon how the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is conducted. BCCI is also keen on conducting Vijay Hazare Trophy after the successful completion of SMAT 2020-21.

The franchise owners will meet the BCCI officials soon and will talk about the venue’s preferences, but reportedly BCCI is aware that most of the owners will be happy on staging IPL 2021 in UAE due to the recent pandemic complications.

“How we approach the next IPL is dependent on how the Mushtaq Ali plays out,” a BCCI member was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is scheduled to begin from 10th January. A lot of big names from Indian cricket will be featuring in the tournament. Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, and Suryakumr Yadav are some of the big names.

The upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be a stage for the young cricketers to showcase their talents. A total of six venues will be conducting the T20 tournament – Kolkata, Mumbai, Baroda, Indore, Bangalore, and Chennai.

New Zealand vs Pakistan: Kane Williamson will be surely one of the greats for New Zealand: Daryl Mitchell.

New Zealand vs Pakistan: The kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell heaped praises on his skipper Kane Williamson during the second test match against Pakistan. Mitchell says Kane Williamson will be surely one of the greats for New Zealand in the coming years.

Daryl Mitchell’s comment came after the skipper scored his fourth double century in his Test career. Williamson amassed 238 runs against Pakistan as New Zealand declared the first innings on 659/6. The Kiwis took the lead of huge 362 runs on the second test match.

“Obviously Kane’s 238 .. that’s pretty amazing and he has set us up for a chance to win this Test match. He is a freak, isn’t he? He’s amazing. He makes the game look so easy at the moment and the way he’s going about things, it’s cool to see him doing so well,” ESPN Cricinfo quoted Mitchell as saying.

“I am delighted to be his teammate. I have played against him when we were kids around 14 years of age and now I am playing test cricket with him. He comes in some of the cricket players who read the game so nicely and controls it. He is a calm and special player and probably go down as New Zealand’s great in the coming years,” Mitchell added.

Daryl Mitchel’s maiden Test Ton:

Mitchell also completed his maiden test ton during the second test match and is grateful to Williamson as he does not declare the innings earlier. New Zealand was well settled on 599/6 but the skipper did not immediately declare the innings. Mitchell made the most of the extra time he got to complete his maiden test ton before declaring the innings.

“That thing has not yet dissolved for me, to be fair, it is a pretty surreal moment. I was allotted two extra overs to start after the tea break. I thought after these overs the innings will get declared but I am thankful to Williamson and the management who allowed me some more extra time to complete my maiden test ton. That’s huge for me to get to the maiden ton has been an amazing feeling.”

“I was swinging pretty hard there at points to try and get there and very grateful for that to happen. I was just happy to go out there and try and be busy and contribute to trying to put a total on for us to try and get 10 wickets,” he added.

New Zealand has defeated Pakistan by an innings and 176 runs. Kayle Jamieson has been named as the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling. Jaimeson took his maiden 10 wickets haul in the test match.

The win also placed New Zealand at the top of the ICC test Teams rankings. Kane Williamson also cemented his position as the number one test batsman in the ICC rankings.

Australia vs India: Navdeep Saini will be a no-brainer choice if you go by cricketing logic: Ashish Nehra.

Australia vs India: The former left-arm Indian pacer Ashish Nehra says Navdeep Saini is going to be the first choice third seamer for India in the upcoming test. Nehra said Saini is a no-brainer pick for the third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground if you go by pure cricketing logic.

Both the side have been in woes by a string of injuries. Team India has already lost Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav due to wrist injury and calf injury respectively.

However, India still has two other options available apart from Navdeep Saini. Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan are also under the scanner for the third test.

“If you see at the squad composition, Navdeep Saini was the first choice while the other two, Natarajan and Shardul Thakur have been drafted in as a replacement of the injured players,” Nehra told PTI.

“So, if Saini was the first choice while selecting the squad then he must be the first choice pick of the captain and the management. I don’t see any strong reasons why he would not be picked for the third test. If you don’t go by the order then things will not be fair with Saini, to be honest,” Nehra added.

The former pacer also talked about the possible weapons in the test cricket.

Saini has extra bounce and pace: Ashish Nehra

“Saini has all the necessary things needed for test cricket. He has that cheeky bounce and extra pace too. He has been tested earlier. I don’t feel Natarajan should be given chance ahead of Saini and Thakur. Natarajan’s biggest weapons are slower balls and yorkers, players do not get trapped in these two balls as they are not trying to hit it.”

“If you want to play with Natarajan, then why didn’t you tested him by placing him in India A, like you tested Mohammad Siraj which turned out to be gold for the visitors,” Nehra added.

“Navdeep Saini has better records than Natarajan, he has featured in many red-ball games and has come up the ranks to get his place in the team. In test cricket, normally batsmen don’t get out on the tempting deliveries, you have to get them out one way or the other.”

Sydney pitches during the limited-over series were more like a flattened one, but in test cricket, it will not be the same. You will require some extra pace to trap the batsmen.

“Navdeep Saini has the ability to pitch up the ball, he has got that extra pace. You will need some pace when the Kukaburah seam will get flattened.”

These all make Navdeep Saini the best choice and according to the order, seniority, the number of games played, and his skills he will be ranked superior to Natarajan right now says, Ashish Nehra.

New Zealand vs Pakistan: Kane Williamson breaks several records after scoring a double century.

New Zealand vs Pakistan: New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson smashed his fourth test double century against Pakistan during the second test match. Willamson was out on 238 after New Zealand made a gripping lead of 302 runs over Pakistan on Day 3. On the way to his fourth double century, Kane Williamson breaks several records.

Williamson has now over 7,000 runs in test cricket and took the fewest number of innings to reach the mark for New Zealand. He becomes the third batsmen for Kiwis to reach the 7,000 runs mark after Ros Taylor and Stephen Fleming. Both the batsmen, Ros Taylor and Stephen Fleming took more innings than Williamson to reach the landmark.

Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls amassed 369 runs for the fourth wicket against Pakistan making it the third-highest partnership for New Zealand for all wickets and against all countries. The partnership of 369 runs is the highest fourth-wicket stand for New Zealand against all countries, broke the previous best of 271 runs between Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder.

New Zealand skipper now has the highest average in the longest format of the game in the last three years among the batsmen who have collected a minimum of 1000 runs. Williamson has an impressive average of 65.74 and Babar Azam is the only batsman behind him having an average of over 60 in the last three years.

Since 2016, Williamson has scored 11 test centuries and is behind Indian skipper Virat Kohli who has 16 tons in test in the last 4 years.

Kane Williamson number 1 Test Batsman:

However, Kane Williamson after his century in the first test match against Pakistan jumps past Virat Kohli and Steve Smith in the ICC Test Batsmen Rankings. His recent double hundred will make his stance more strong in the rankings.

His team New Zealand has now equaled Australia in the ICC Test team ranking. If New Zealand wins the second test, they will rise to number 1 in the test format, even a draw will work for them.

Australia vs India: VVS Laxman expects Rohit Sharma to score big in the last two tests

0

Australia vs India: VVS Laxman expects Rohit Sharma to score big in the last two tests.

Australia vs India: Former Team India’s batsman VVS Laxman expects Rohit Sharma to score big in the last two test games against Australia. Laxman shows faith in the opener who has a fantastic record against Aussies in the white-ball format. He says the Australian surface suits Sharma’s batting style if he survives against the pacers with the new ball.

Rohit Sharma has missed the major part of the Australian tour due to an injury he sustained during the IPL. He has been an integral part of Team India’s ultimate success in the limited format. India has lost the ODI series and won the subsequent T20I series against Australia.

The dashing opener has been recently appointed as the vice-captain of the side for the last two test matches which adds more responsibility to his shoulders. Laxman feels that Mayank Agarwal’s string of low scores 17, 9, 0, 5 will make way for Rohit Sharma in the Sydney Test, starting 7th January.

Team India will be delighted to have Rohit Sharma back says VVS Laxman:

“Team India will be delighted to have Rohit Sharma back into the squad, that too when regular skipper Virat is not with the team. He will provide more experience to the side. I think this is the perfect opportunity for the Indian to go 2-1 at Sydney and then probably go 3-1 in the last match of the tour,” VVS Laxman said in the Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

“Rohit himself will be eager to show his class because his batting style suits the Australian pitches. His white-ball records against Aussies are fantastic. He has missed the white ball series and will be looking to kick-start the new year with a bang,” Laxman added.

“If he survives the new ball, if he can see through the pacers with the shiny ball then the century will be on cards and he might go on to score double hundred, who knows.”

Rohit Sharma in test cricket has been in and out since his debut. The major part of his test cricket has been affected by the injuries and that’s the reason he has played just 32 test matches since his debut in 2013.

KL Rahul has also been ruled out of the series and this increases the pressure even more on the shoulders of the newly elected vice-captain. Sharma will be excited to bat on Australian soil.

Rohit Sharma in an interview told that he had a dream of playing two tests on Australian soil.
