South Africa to make a meaningful gesture for anti-racism in the match against Sri Lanka

South Africa to make a meaningful gesture for anti-racism in the match against Sri Lanka.

South Africa vs Sri Lanka Test Series: South Africa will make a meaningful gesture on anti-racism before the start of the Boxing Day Test on Centurain against Sri Lanka after failing to do so in the T20I series against England.

The first test encounter will begin on Saturday and the South African coach Mark Boucher said his boys and management will express their smart gesture towards anti-racism as they got criticized for not doing so in the T20I series against England.

“The management and the players have a lot of discussion on the topic since we have come into the bubble, especially after the Board’s statement and the guys have come up with the meaningful gesture to extend their support,” Boucher said during a virtual press conference on Friday.

That’s something the players will share with everyone before match day,” he added.

Cricket South Africa criticized the team’s response:

Cricket South Africa (CSA) Board had criticized the team and the management after not expressing the team’s response to the Black Lives Matter last week. The Board made sure that they do not force the players to follow any sentiments and Broucher was appreciative of that.

We appreciate the board isn’t looking to compel the team into doing anything one way or the other, and that they are happy to allow the team to go through their process and come up with something meaningful to them.”

We are happy to engage further with them and what they would like to discuss at a more appropriate time,” the former national team wicketkeeper-batsman said.

Black Lives Matter has picked the pace after the death of African-American George Floyd earlier this year. After the horrifying incident, several cricketers have shown their support to the movement and can be seen bowing down on the knee.

Team India’s Playing XI for 2nd Test: Team India’s playing XI for the second Melbourne Test match has been announced on Friday by the management. Shubman Gill, Mohd Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant finally break into the final XI.

The all-important Boxing Day Test will begin from Saturday with Australia already taking the lead 1-0 in the four-match test series. India will lock horns against the mighty Aussies in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.

Gill and Siraj to Debut:

Ajinkya Rahane led side will have two debutants for the second test match, Opener Shubman Gill and pacer Mohd Siraj.

Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been replaced by Rishabh Pant while Ravindra Jadeja has recovered his concussion and has been brought in to the side.

Prithwi Shaw who failed miserably in the two innings of the first test has been axed from the eleven making a way for the debutant Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill will be partnering with Mayank Agarwal for the second Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both the openers will make sure to open the innings well and stitch a match-winning partnership.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who has been out of the format for quite a time now has been brought in. Pant fired at Aussies bowlers in the second practice game. Pant will be required to play a fearless brand of cricket which is the need of the hour.

The regular skipper, Virat Kohli also left a message for the team before he left Australia to “play a fearless brand of Cricket. Show intent and regardless of the result just be at your best.”

Mohammad Siraj comes in place of Mohammad Shami. The senior speedster has been ruled out of the whole series after he took a blow in his arm. A nasty short-delivery from Pat Cummins put him out of the series.

Team India’s Playing XI for the 2nd Test Match:

Ajinkya Rahane ©, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to sit out of cricket for six months, Return in IPL 2021

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to sit out of cricket for six months, Return in IPL 2021. Buvi picked Thigh injury during the delayed season of Indian T20 League. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to sit out of cricket for six months.

Bhuvenshwar Kumar:  Senior Indian pacer Buvneshwar Kumar is expected to remain out of cricket for straight six months. According to the reports, the pacer will have to miss the all-important England tour to India Series. Kumar is expected to return to competitive cricket with the next edition of IPL which is likely to begin in April.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently undergoing his rehabilitation program in National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore under the eyes of Director Rahul Dravid.

Kumar last stepped into the field during the IPL 2020 where he picked a thigh injury.

He will be able to play only during the IPL as he is out of competitive cricket for six months,” an official in the know of things told IANS.

According to the sources, Kumar will also miss participation in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21 for his home side Uttar Pradesh.

The Team is struggling with the bowlers with Mohammad Shami getting ruled out of the series due to a fractured arm in the first test game against Australia. Ishant Sharma earlier failed to recover from his side strain.

Team India is left with only two senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. They will have to look to some youngsters in the ongoing test series against Australia.

Classic Injuries for Kumar:

The problem with fast bowling is that it puts a huge toll on the body. He seems to be unlucky in the last couple of years and seems to be getting a lot of classic injuries — back strain, side strain, hamstring strain — that all focus in and around the lower back area, which is very often the problem area for bowlers,” Matthews told IANS.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is India’s one of the finest bowlers when it comes to early swing. Kumar has been phenomenal for his side especially in the white-ball format. But the past couple of years have been off for him, picking various injuries regularly.

In the recently concluded ODI series against Australia, India has missed Kumar when other pacers failed to pitch the ball right early on. India could not provide an early breakthrough which costed the ODI series.

Australia will remain unchanged, Langer:

It will need some different sort of courage to change the current playing XI for the Australians in the second Test game. Unless something happens over the next few days and in the world we live bit we are going with the same XI,” Langer said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.

The Australian cricket board has already clarified its stance on the increasing seating capacity per day. Cricket Australia increased the per day capacity to 30,000 fans which was earlier set to 25,000.
