Pragyan Ojha nominated as the representative to IPL GC

Pragyan Ojha nominated as the representative to IPL GC.

The former Indian spinner has been nominated as the representative to the IPL governing council by the Indian Cricketers Associations (ICA). A day before the actual AGM, the decision was announced and it has been a shocking one.

Formerly, it was represented by the retired Indian cricketer Surendra Khanna and according to the BCCI constitution, every year Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) is required to send a member to the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC).

Indian Cricketers Association (ICA):

Yes, the ICA’s directors have nominated former Indian spinner, Pragyan Ojha as the representative to the IPL governing council. Previously, Surendra Sharma has done a good job and we would like to give everyone an opportunity,” ICA president Ashok Malhotra told PTI.

The left arm spinner played his last international game in 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar’s last game. Since then he is out of the international level. Ojha announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in February this year.

The members of ICA have authorized the Board of Directors to nominate the member to the IPL governing council as well as the ICA board. After long talks and taking into consideration any possible issues of conflicts of interest, found Pragyan Ojha as the suitable member to represent them.”

“The AGM conducted via video conference, touched upon the issues that had been raised by the ICA Representatives to the BCCI Apex Council to further the cause of ICA’s members.

According to the statement, “The ICA officials had raised the issue with the BCCI of increasing the Medical reimbursement and include widows as also those who have played between 10 and 24 first-class games. The Board has also requested BCCI to include domestic women cricketers in their gratis scheme,” ICA said.

Pragyan Ojha has played 24 test games and amassed a total of 113 scalps to his bag.

BCCI to play a friendly match before the Annual General Meeting on Thursday.

BCCI AGM: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to play a friendly match before the 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday. The match will be held between the BCCI officials and the state association officials.

The newly build Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad is scheduled to host the friendly encounter and has a seating capacity of over 1,00,000 spectators. One side will be led by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly while the other will be led by BCCI secretory Jay Shah.

According to the reports, some of the retired cricketers will take part in a friendly encounter. The head of Hyderabad Cricket Association, Mohammad Azharuddin, former Indian cricketer Brijesh Patel and ex-Saurashtra captain Jaydev Shah will also be part of the game.

AGM will decide the number of new Teams:

The scheduled 89th BCCI AGM will be held to decide the heated issue of expansion of the Indian Premier League.

According to the officials of BCCI, almost every member is in favor of expansion as this will give more opportunities to the Indian talents. We have a lot of young guns seating and this will be a perfect opportunity for them.

There are a lot of things to discuss in the most awaited AGM and most of the stakeholders feel that with IPL being held in April, there is very little time for a mega auction and to have a uniform retention policy,” a BCCI official.

There are a lot of aspects to take into consideration. You have to give tenders and keep the bidding game ready. In case you have two teams winning bids in late January or early February, they will need to be given enough time for auctions which can then be held only in March. That leaves a new team with little time to plan.”

Australia vs India: Rahane is a bowler’s captain, says Ishant Sharma.

Australia vs India 2nd Test: Team India’s pace spearhead, Ishant Sharma heaped praises on the stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Sharma says, Rahane is Bowler’s captain, and his cool and calm attitude on the field will help India in the remainder of the series.

The visitor’s regular skipper, Virat Kohli is allowed paternity leave and will not be part of the rest of the games in the Australian tour. However, Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in Kohli’s absence.

Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma who missed the Australian tour due to a side strain, said Ajinkya has a good leadership quality and will surely lead the team in good ways.

He’s very quiet and confident and I must say he’s a bowler’s captain,” Ishant told ‘ESPNcricinfo’.

We have played together for a long time now, but whenever Virat is not around, he always makes sure his bowlers are comfortable. He regularly asks you when do you want to bowl? What kind of field do you want? If you want to bowl or not right now?

He is Bowler’s Captain:

He’s a bowler’s captain. He’s not someone who’d say ‘do this or do that … He is very clear about what he wants from his team.

Ajinkya Rahane has led his side to victories both the times when he got the test captaincy. Whether it is with Australia or with Afghanistan.

Rahane is a super kind and calm person on the field. Anyone can judge his style and what kind of person he is in his captaincy. I can not say he does not possess a good sense of humor. He keeps joking around us whenever we needed that.

Rahane makes the environment lighter with his calm behavior and composed temperament in the pressure situation. No player will feel any tensed moment with him, he is the one to communicate with bowlers very well.”

When things are not going our way, one person’s nature on the field can change the whole scene, Ishant Sharma on Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli is someone who brings very unique things to the table. When two batsmen are making a good partnership and the wicket is flat at that time one player’s energy level can change the game,” he said.

The kind of energy Virat brings to the table … not everyone can match that.

The second Test is scheduled to be held from Saturday followed by games in Sydney and Brisbane.

Australia vs India: David Warner ruled out of the second Test against India.

Australia vs India 2nd Test: Yet another shock for the Australian Team as star opener David Warner is ruled out of the second Boxing Day Test against India as he fails to recover from his injury on time.

Cricket Australia’s governing body said on Wednesday, Warner and Sean Abbott will be missing the squad for the second Boxing Day test and have been excluded from the bio-secure bubble.

Neither of the players has been specific to the hotspot of the Covid-19 outbreak but Cricket Australia’s health protocols and Bio-secure environment does not allow them to join the squad for the second test.

Australia and India will begin the Melbourne Boxing Day Test on December 26 and the teams have been practicing in the Bio-secure bubble.

Both the cricketers, Warner and Sean Abbott flew to Melbourne to join the rest of the squad to avoid the quarantine protocol issues arising due to sudden Covid outburst in Sydney.

Warner excluded from the Squad:

The reports suggest Warner would have been recovered by the time but the strict rules prevented them to join the team.

Star Opener David Warner picked Groin Injury during the second ODI game against India and since then he is out of the ground completing his rehab program.

The authorities of New South Whales have been trying to contain the Covid-19 cluster that arose a few days back in the largest city of Australia. As per the authorities, the marks are still below 100 and the government announced ease on the restrictions to celebrate Christmas.

However, it still remains to be seen if it affects the third test game which is scheduled to be held in Sydney on January 7.

IPL 2021 Updates: Mega Auctions before IPL 2021? New Teams for IPL

IPL 2021 Updates: Mega Auctions or Mini Auctions? New Teams for IPL before IPL 2021 or before IPL 2022.

IPL 2021 Updates: As the time getting closer to the Annual General Meeting of BCCI and the officials of ICC, the dynamics started to change. According to the recent reports from the official source, BCCI might look to conduct Mini Auctions instead of Mega Auctions.

The official statement will be released only after the BCCI Annual General Meeting on 24th December.

Earlier, Sourav Ganguly led BCCI wanted to conduct full-fledged Auctions ahead of IPL 2021 but there seems to be a slight change in the decision. As per the recent reports, BCCI is keen on carrying out Mini-Auctions right now and will be conducting Full Fledged Auctions in IPL 2022.

Carrying out full auctions will not be a piece of cake right now because of time constraints and other issues. Rather BCCI will aim to conduct mini-auctions so that franchisees can exchange some players. The schedules for the auctions and other formalities are still not decided,” BCCI official.

Dates for Mini-Auctions:

The mini auctions will be held 11 February 2021. With Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Wrapping up on 31st January, it will be easy for the franchises to scout some talents and bid for them in mini-auctions.

The time between mid-February and March is much suited for the auctions as all the tournaments will be over till then. BCCI is also keen on conducting Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 subsequently right after Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

This will give more room to the IPL Franchises to make better choices for their respective teams.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is almost done to add new teams to IPL, but the addition is certainly going to get delayed. As cited earlier, time constraints will push BCCI to delay the process for 2022.

Ahmedabad is almost booked as the new franchise will other option is yet to be announced.

Australia vs India: Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Mohd Siraj to be part of 2nd test

Australia vs India: Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Mohd. Siraj to be part of 2nd test.

Australia vs India 2nd Test: After Australia thrashing India in the first test game by 8 wickets, the management is keen on making the forced changes into the final eleven for the second Test game. India saw a batting debacle in the first Test when Australia seamers outplayed the Indian batting lineup, restricting the visitors to just 39 runs in the 2nd innings.

This time the management is keen on making changes to the side for better results. The reports show that Prithwi Shaw and Wriddhiman Saha could be benched while Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant would be in their place.

Mohammad Siraj is likely to be called for Mohammad Shami’s replacement as he sustained a fracture in the first test.

Rishabh Pant to be included, MSK Prasad:

Our management has a clear stance with Rishabh Pant being the first-choice wicketkeeper in countries like Australia and England. In India when you don’t need number six batsman then we can have the specialist wicketkeeper,” MSK Prasad told PTI.

I think Pant has done enough work on his technique and fitness lately and looked in good touch during the practice game against Australia A. So I would agree with the team if they give Rishabh a chance in the next three tests.

Indian management is also concerned about the opening, with Prithwi Shaw failing miserably India could choose young Shubman Gill as his replacement. India’s regular skipper will not be a part of the rest of the games and KL Rahul will be forced to come in and hold his place.

However, another blow came when Mohammad Shami was ruled out of the remainder of the Test series, Siraj who has been good in the practice game is likely to take his place in the remaining games.

In the meantime, Virat Kohli’s absence could bring Vihari up the order. “Hanuma Vihari has a very clinical techniques and temperament and he can serve Indian test side for a long time. In absence of Kohli, it would be a handy opportunity for Vihari and KL Rahul to come up and prove their mettle.”

I would go for Vihari at Number 4 or 5 in the remaining test games. He is a good cricketer with sound technique and I feel he will do well if given the challenge to perform upfront. KL can be good at number 6 to the Indian team,” former chairman of selectors.
