Australia vs India: Rohit Sharma clears the fitness Test, all set to fly to Australia

Rohit Sharma Clears Fitness Test: Team India’s dashing opener Rohit Sharma clears the fitness test conducted on Friday, 11th December. Rohit Sharma will fly to Sydney, Australia on 14th December to join Team India.

Rohit Sharma had sustained a hamstring injury during IPL that forced him to miss the much anticipated white ball series against Australia. Sharma is already ruled out of the first two test games due to late recovery and hard quarantine rules at Australia.

Sharma has passed the fitness test at NCA and will soon fly to Australia to join the squad,” senior BCCI official to PTI.

The fitness test was conducted under the supervision of the director of National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore, Rahul Dravid who is responsible to give the fitness certificates.

As per the rules set by the Australian Government, Rohit Sharma will have to complete mandatory 14 days quarantine before getting to train for the last two test matches at Sydney and Brisbane.

Rohit’s Injury confusion:

There has been a lot of puzzlement around the injury concerns of Rohit. Skipper Virat Kohli in the video conference told that lack of clarity has created confusion in the team. He is not aware of his injury updates.

Rohit Sharma injured himself in the IPL game against Kings XI Punjab which subsequently went for the double super over. He was seen benched for four games.

Due to the injury of Rohit Sharma, the national selectors were forced not to pick him for the tour.

But soon after the release of squads of Australia tour, Rohit was seen in the nets practicing for IPL.

BCCI later cleared that Rohit will be the part of Test Squad and will go with Team India for the tour and will be given rest for the white ball series to gain full fitness for the important test games.

Rohit Sharma didn’t travel with team India rather he returned to Mumbai which created confusion on his participation.

However, BCCI later issued a press release one day after Virat’s video conference who raised the question of why Rohit didn’t travel with the team, stating his father;s illness forced him to return to India.

England announced 16 men Test Squad: The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday announced the statement regarding the Test Squad for the tour of Sri Lanka early next year. A 16 men strong Test Squad is announced along with seven reserve players.

Archer and Stokes Rested:

The duo of speedster Jofra Archer and all-rounder Ben Stokes is given rest for the tour. Both the players were playing non-stop cricket previously and to manage the workload they have been excluded from the side. However, both Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer will join the squad in India’s tour in February 2021.

All-rounder Moeen Ali and wicketkeeper-batsman Jhonny Bairstow found their place in the squad. Moeen Ali took a break from international cricket in 2019 while Bairstow was dropped from the test side a year ago.

Along with Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, Batsman Rory Burns is given rest. Burns is expecting his child during the second week of January and will miss the Sri Lanka tour.

Ollie Pope suffered a shoulder injury during the home series against Pakistan in September will join the squad and will continue his rehab program for the readiness in India tour in February next year.

England and Sri Lanka will be locking horns for the two-match Test series. Both the games will be played at Galle International Cricket Stadium due to the Covid restrictions. However, the games will be played behind closed bars.

English players will complete their quarantine in Hambantota after arrival in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has provided facilities to train during the isolation. England will train for five days during the isolation period (Jan 5-9) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.

Australia vs India: Cameron Green ruled out of the tour game due to a concussion

Australia vs India: Cameron Green ruled out of the tour game due to a concussion.

Australia vs India: Yet another scary injury for the Australians before the start of the Test Series against India. The young Cameron Green has been ruled out of the tour game due to a concussion during the second practice match against India A.

The injury will be threatening for the Australian management as they have been in and out due to several injury concerns in the whole India tour. In the previous game, young opener Will Pucovski was taken for a medical check-up after being hit on the head.

During the second practice game against India A, the all-rounder Cameron Green got hit on his head while bowling to Jasprit Bumrah. The all-rounder could not react to the fast straight drive off Bumrah and the ball burst into the head after touching his hands.

Mohammed Siraj on the other end, immediately went straight to him to check if he is alright. He was later taken for a medical checkup.

Injury Concerns for Australia after Cameron Green got ruled out:

After the game of the first day ended, Cricket Australia announced that he will be out of the tour game due to a concussion. However, his availability in the test game against India is still a question and will be answered once the medical report is out.

A bit of worry for Cricket Australia as David Warner is also ruled out of the first test match. Warner suffered a groin injury in the second ODI game against India while fielding. Since then he is out of the game and doing his rehab program in Sydney.

In a statement, Warner told, “I am not fully game fit right now. Test game needs a good level of fitness and I am not prepared for it. 10 more days will work for me to get much-needed fitness. I will be agile in the field till then.”

The update on Will Pucovski is still not available. He is not part of the second test practice games against India A.

Mitchell Starc also missed the final two T20Is due to family issues and the update on his availability is still not confirmed.

IPL 2021 will be conducted in India only, Expected dates for IPL 2021, Reports.

IPL 2021 Expected Date and Host Country: BCCI is likely to conduct the fourteenth season of IPL in India only. With the recent development on the homecoming of international cricket, the England tour of India 2021 is all set to begin in February 2021.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the itinerary for the England tour of India on Thursday that subsequently gave hints on the IPL 2021.

England will tour India for the four-game Test series, five T20Is, and three ODIs. The tour will begin with Tests starting February 5. The whole tour will be played in just three venues with Gujrat’s Motera Stadium will be the busiest one.

India vs England series will end with the three game ODI series on March 28. However, the players will get much needed rest before IPL 2021.

Expected Dates for IPL 2021:

Earlier, it was expected that BCCI might organize IPL from the end of March but after the India-England series announcement, it seems that the Indian T20 League will kick off from the second week of April.

The most probable date for the series to begin is 10th April. Taking into account that previously conducted seasons have more or less started in the second week of April.

Will India Host 2021 IPL?

India will be the probable country to host IPL because the time after the India-England series will be too short to travel to another country. Not more than two weeks will be available for the players and management to gel in with the whole squads.

In such a short time, it will be a tough thing to do. While BCCI would want to organize the Indian T20 league in India only to reduce the extra cost of traveling and UAE grounds.

However, the final decision will be released after the Annual General Meeting held on 24th December. The addition of two teams is expected but it can delay due to the lack of time.

Ahmedabad will be one to get franchise. while Pune, Kanpur, Lucknow will be the other one.

If IPL expands, BCCI would give some time to players to jell in with their new franchise.

Aakash Ambani on Parthiv Patel:

The former wicketkeeper-batsman brings a vast domestic and international cricketing experience with him. He has been into the field for over two decades and has close understandings of fast-paced IPL competition,” Aakash Ambani in a statement.

The most successful franchise will leave no stone unturned for the hattrick to the title victory and felt delighted after signing Patel as a scout.

MI had an opportunity in the past to use his cricketing brain during his playing days and we believe his experience will bring a lot more understanding and depth to our scouting system.”

Parthiv understands and knows what the Mumbai Indians wants and what our ideologies are.”

The former batsman was the part of Mumbai Indians franchise for three years. He has lifted IPL Titles two times, 2015 and 2017.

The recently retired cricketer said that he is thankful for the opportunity and start the new innings here onwards.

I had enjoyed my cricketing days for Mumbai Indians, those momentous three years with the champion side remain etched in my memory. It’s the time now to turn a page in my career. I am very excited as well as confident to bring up best to the opportunity given to me by the franchise.

The former Mumbai Indians player will now work closely with the scouting team for the future.

IPL 2021 New Teams: “BCCI might postpone the induction of new teams to 2022,” BCCI official.

IPL 2021 New Teams: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might look to introduce new IPL teams in 2022. The lack of time in between to carry out all the processes can put BCCI to this decision. The news of the addition of the two new franchises has been too much intensified in the recent past.

The lack of time for the actions to be taken has increased the heat of the issue. The final decision is yet to be taken by the board. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 24th December will end all the wait for the decision.

According to the report of Inside Sports who spoke to one of the officials of BCCI said, time is a major issue for us right now. According to the level of talents we have, we definitely need an expansion but time is something we need to take care of.

Everything has to be finalized between December and February. All the tenders, Player’s Auctions, and most importantly communicating with the existing franchise can be a hectic task.

For the Auctions to be held, we have to carry out Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) games at the same time we can also take Ranji Trophy into the consideration. Both tournaments are a must if Auctions are to be conducted.

BCCI official on IPL 2021:

Time is too short for the introduction of the new teams for IPL in 2021. Tendering, players auction and most importantly getting all the stakeholders on the same page will be really challenging in the short-time span. We are of the view, any addition to the team should only happen for IPL 2022“, a BCCI official told InsideSport.

The board is considering two franchises for the induction in IPL. Ahmedabad is one of the first cities to get the franchise while Lucknow, Kanpur, Pune can be the other.

The board’s broadcasting deals with Star will end in 2021. After that, we can introduce new teams so that the partnership values can be increased. That would be a fair deal. But we need to look up to AGM for the final decision.”

On Thursday, BCCI also announced India vs England series. England will tour India in February for 4 Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs. The tour will end on March 28. Roughly a week will be left for the players to take part in IPL.

Looking up to the schedule, India will be the last option to host IPL 2021. If the Covid-19 conditions do not recover till that time, it would become really difficult for the board to conduct the Indian T20 League safely.
