Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni tops the list of 100 Crores Players in IPL, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are behind him. MS Dhoni as per the report earned a total of 137 crores from IPL. This stat is calculated from the inaugural year (2008) of the Indian Premier League till the 2020 season.

The study also shows that Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is ahead of Virat Kohli.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is on the top charts of the Indian Premier League and BCCI central contract list because of his stats and records.

In the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (2008) MS Dhoni got the then highest bid. Dhoni bagged a huge USD 1.5 Million in the 2008 Auctions. Right now this amount might look too small and even an uncapped player can earn this.

CSK Skipper Dhoni led his side to the title victory in 2010 and finals in 2008 and his outstanding records made him one of the highest-paid cricketers.

As per the Inside Sports Money ball, MS Dhoni earned a huge 137 crores from Indian Premier League bids. The amount does not include other prize money like Man of the Match, Player of the Tournament, etc.

For three years, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Dhoni earned USD 1.5 Million. He received 8.2 crores in the next three seasons (2011, 2012, 2013) of the Indian T20 League.

BCCI then raised the amount of first choice retentions to 12.5 crores from 2014 IPL. Hence, Dhoni earned 12.5 crores in IPL 2014 and 2015. However, Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) gave MS Dhoni the same amount for two years (2016, 2017) i.e., 12.5 Crores.

In 2018, BCCI again increased the retention price, and this time it got raised to 15 crores. Since 2018 MS Dhoni collected 15 crores for his IPL duty.

These all amount collectively sum up to 137 crores in 13 seasons of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma is just behind MS Dhoni in the list followed by Virat Kohli.

The study also shows that Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is ahead of Virat Kohli in the list.

Rohit Sharma earned 3 crores every year playing for Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010. In IPL 2011 Auctions Mumbai India brought Rohit Sharma for 9.2 crores. He earned the same amount for three years (2011, 2012, 2013).

Rohit Sharma became the captain of Mumbai India midway through the 2013 season and led the side to the title. In 2014, he became the regular captain of the franchise and got the price for first choice retention. Since then, he is matching MS Dhoni every year.

His total earning from IPL becomes 131 crores and 6 crores behind MS Dhoni.

Virat Kohli:

RCB skipper Virat Kohli is not far from the MI Skipper. Virat was picked by Royal Challenger Bangalore in 2008 and gave him 12 lakhs. For three years Virat earned the same amount.

RCB retained Kohli in 2011 for 8.2 crores. He earned 8.2 crores for the next three seasons. While in 2014 he reached the top bracket, drawing huge 12.5 crores. Since then he is matching MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.

While in 2018 Virat shattered all records by drawing 17 crores i.e., 2 crores more from first choice retentions. Since then he is getting 17 crores.

A total of 126 crores is earned by Virat Kohli from the Indian Premier League.

It was the last time in May 2019 that Suresh Raina played competitive cricket. He did not play IPL 2020 owing to personal reasons. But now it is almost confirmed that he will play in IPL 2021. He is also representing Uttar Pradesh in the 2020/21 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, and this would be a warm-up for him before IPL 2021.

He is a valuable player for Chennai Super Kings, and the Chennai team will work hard to bring back the old golden days of IPL for them. This ambitious player has played 193 matches for IPL from 2008 till 2019. He has 5368 scores to his credit during the IPL career to date. He may inch towards 6000 runs in IPL 2021. It is often seen that comebacks by Cricketers are successful because they work harder than before to regain their grip over the audience.

There is no doubt that he is a great batsman, but his bowling is also impressive in IPL. He has gotten 25 wickets from 2008 till 2019 in IPL, and it is not bad for a mainstream batsman. Currently, Raina is not in any contract with Chennai Super Kings as he was released from the contract due to personal reasons. IPL 2021: Suresh Raina confirms that he will be a part of competitive cricket as well as the Indian T20 League in the next season. The southpaw is out of the game for two years and speaking to Dainik Jagran Raina confirms participation in IPL 2021 and Competitive cricket in 2021.

After two long years gap, Raina will be seen on the field. He also told he will be playing the domestic circuit before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Raina will be leading his home side Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2020/21.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release the schedule for the domestic circuit cricket 2020/21. But it is confirmed that it will be conducted before the IPL.

Suresh Raina’s two years break:

Raina has led his home team, Uttar Pradesh to the title once in SMAT 2015/16. Raina will step into the field after two years hiatus. He will be hoping to win the title on his comeback.

Previously Raina played in IPL 2019 final, since then he is out of the game. He traveled with his IPL franchise to UAE but soon pulled back from the League and returned back home. His news of pulling back came soon after 13 members from the CSK camp tested positive for COVID.

Subsequently, spinner Harbhajan Singh also pulled out of the season as CSK faced a major setback.

The Chennai franchise had removed their names from the website and it is yet to be known whether they will be part of the squad in 2021 or not.

When will IPL 2021 and Domestic Cricket take place?

Sourav Ganguly led BCCI is keen on conducting the domestic circuits before the IPL 2021 Auctions. January and February are chosen as a suitable time for the domestic circuits as the franchise will also scout the talents for the Auctions.

However, if BCCI plans to conduct the Ranji Trophy at the same time, then it might go till March. The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League will be conducted from April to May and the Auctions will be held in between. 

The final decision will be taken after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is scheduled for 24th December.

The third and final T20I fixture held on Tuesday was the last fixture of the white ball series. India sealed the series in the second game itself but Aaron Finch led Australia managed to prevent the complete white-wash.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday said that Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanctions so there was no need for a formal hearing of the matter.

David Boon, Match Referee imposed the sanctions after India fell one over short of the allotted time.

India found one over short, David Boon:

“David Boon of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after India was one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration,” ICC said in a media statement on Wednesday.

“According to the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, Article  2.22 which relates to the offense of minimum over rates, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” it added.

This was the second instance in the ongoing series where Virat Kohli and Co. were f=found guilty for the offense of maintaining a slow over-rate.

In the first ODI against Australia last month, India was fined a 20 percent match fee.

Steve Smith on Slow Over Rate instance in first ODI:

Steve Smith said this is the longest 50 over a game he has ever experienced.

“It was the longest One Day International in the field I’ve ever had, that’s for sure… I don’t know what to put that down to. Obviously, some protesters stopped the play for a while that must be counted and it took a bit of the time in the first innings and I think India went 45 minutes over the scheduled time and we were something similar,” Steve Smith.

The recent development in the injury of David Warner is scary for the hosts. The Australian opening batsman David Warner is ruled out of the first test game against India starting December 17th. However, the dependable batsman will try to come back in the second boxing day test game at Melbourne.

Warner picked the groin injury during the second One Day International against India. He is currently doing his rehab program in Sydney and will remain here only to get full match fitness for the second game.

David Warner who was in drastic form in the recent games will be a key player for the Australian squad. His fitness could impact the whole series result.

Another 10 Days will be needed, Warner:

“I think I have made a good progress in the short time span and it’s best for my injury to stay here in Sydney and get full fitness before stepping into the field,” Warner said.

“The groin is a lot better, but the whole point is to satisfy my own self and to my teammates that it is 100 percent ready to play the longest format of the game.”

“Playing in the longest format demands a lot better fitness. Running between the wickets and being agile during the field are the most important aspects. At this point, I don’t think I have such fitness and another 10 days would make a good difference in the level of fitness.”

Injuries have been a major concern for the Australian this summer. A lot of their players sustained injuries. Finch also sustained the injury but returned to the field after one game.

Another batsman, Will Pucovski was struck in the helmet during the first warm-up game against India A. He was retired hurt and sent for a medical checkup. His injury concern will also be a major blow for the hosts.

Warner’s likely opening partner Joe Burns was in a stiff form last summer. He just managed to get 4 runs in the two innings of the test game against India A at Sydney.

Australia will be a much lighter side in absence of David Warner and his replacement for the first test is yet to be called.

Cricket Australia will be keen on knowing the status of Will Pucovski after the medical checkup, replacement will be called after that.

Both India and Australia will play the Border Gavaskar Trophy starting 17th December at Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane respectively.

A clinical performance from the young T Natarajan in the first International series of his career put him under the scanner to be a part of the T20 World Cup 2021. Indian skipper, Virat Kohli hint’s at T Natarajan being a part of the 2021 T20 World Cup which will be held in India during October-November.

Dazzled with the ability of T Natarajan to deliver under pressure, Virat Kohli took no time to say he will be an asset for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Tamil-Nadu seamer was initially not in the squads, he was selected as a net bowler for Australia tour. However, due to injury concerns, he got the place in both ODIs and T20Is.

The left-arm seamer picked 8 scalps in 4 games against Australia and is being compared with Jasprit Bumrah who had some similar stats in his first international series.

Natarajan debuted in the final ODI against Australia, he was exceptional from other bowlers who were leaking runs.

Virat Kohli and Co. looked a bit rusty at the start of the tour, they lost two ODIs back to back but bounced back strongly. India bagged the T20I series 2-1 while Australia got the ODI series with the same margin.

“We have played good cricket over the last 11-12 T20Is and hope to carry it forward. Our key players were resting but the boys performed nicely in the conditions. From that point of view, it was a good performance especially after losing two initial ODIs.”

India will be heading next to Adelaide for the much anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy starting 17th December. Virat Kohli will be a part of the first test before returning home.

“I am in a good headspace now. It was a bit scratch to start with ODIs but eventually got the rhythm back. I worked on a few aspects of my game, not on the technical part.”

“I think I can switch between formats when I am in a good headspace. Feeling fresh to head to the tests.”

“Hopefully, we can start the four games series on a happy note. Starting fresh is very important especially when we have played six games in no time. But we have players who are enough experienced and can continue performing.”

Team India was trapped in a mistake after a late DRS call from Virat Kohli. The Men in Blues found themselves on the wrong end of the Decision Review System (DRS) call against Kangaroos in the third game of T20Is.

Team India trying to put pressure on the hosts after two big wickets of Aaron Finch and Steve Smith, called for a DRS in a fine delivery but they got deprived of it.

The incident happened in the eleventh over of the first innings. Matthew Wade after completing his half-century tried to gear up the innings but T Natarajan successfully hit the ball in the pads of the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Virat Kohli went for the review but his call was not allowed by the onfield umpire.

However, this time the TV Umpire had started his work but soon realized that the broadcasters had already shown up the replay of the delivery.

Batsmen asked the onfield umpires as if this is the right thing to do after showing up the replay. The TV Umpire soon bailed up and canceled the call for DRS.

The replay showed that the ball was hitting the leg stumps and if it would have been a fair DRS call, Matthew Wade would have to leave the crease.

However, the commentators later clarified that the Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli took more than 15 seconds to call for the DRS due to which it was canceled by the umpires.

Experts Reaction to the Incident:

But the incident took a toll on some of the former cricketers and Pundits and have been constantly talking about it on social media.

Matthew Wade survived that delivery by luck and later smacked Indian Bowlers all over the park and imposed a huge total of 186 runs in 20 overs. Wade amassed 80 runs from 53 balls he faced in the third T20I.

What is cooking inside BCCI with regards to new format of IPL 2021

IPL fever has gripped India since its start in 2008. It is one of the most awaited tournaments by Indian Cricket fans, and it would not be wrong to say that it has more viewers than other international cricket tournaments. IPL 2020 has recently ended in Dubai, and preparations are already in full swing for next season.

There is news about a change in the format of IPL 2021. Right now, eight teams are playing in the Indian Premier League. As per the new proposed format, ten teams would be playing in the IPL in 2021. It was in 2011 when ten teams competed, and it is just a coincidence that after ten years again, ten teams would be competing with each other. The ten teams would be divided into two groups of five each. It looks more like the pattern followed during the Cricket world cup.

Undoubtedly, more number of teams fighting for this coveted trophy will increase the excitement among fans and IPL fever more intriguing. But there is no clear consent among BCCI officials about the introduction of new teams. BCCI has made it clear that auction a mega auction for the same may take place before IPL 2021. The strong reason to widen the sphere of teams in IPL is giving a platform to as many young talented cricketers as possible. It will also bring tough competition in this exciting and cash-rich league.

But there are some of the BCCI officials who have raised some genuine concerns against this proposed plan. An official has said that time is too short for the introduction of two new teams as it is a challenging task to bring all stakeholders on the same page. Moreover, the broadcast rights deal with Star channel will end by 2021, and if new teams are introduced in 2022, then it would be more comfortable to renew the broadcast contract. It is a proposed plan for now, and any decision would be taken only at the Annual General Meeting of BCCI that will happen around Christmas this year.

There are two main contenders in the fray for owning new IPL teams, they are the Adani Group owned by Gautam Adani, and RPSG owned by Sanjeev Goenka. Adani’s interests have grown manifold since Ahmedabad having the country’s biggest cricket stadium, and they have expressed their interests in Cricket in the past as well. Goenka group had recently owned Pune Supergiants for two years, and they will grab this chance to be back in the competition.

Talking about the impact of new additions on the IPL, the suggested alterations will bring changes in terms of the number of matches and complication level of the tournament. It will exclude the need to have multiple tournaments between the same teams as the best teams from two groups will have further competition. But it will increase the complication level as group-wise matches and then play-offs will take place. All in all, it would be thrilling to watch, and all the questions regarding the new IPL format would be addressed by the end of this year.

“I won’t mind staying with the team for Tests,” says Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya after successful instincts in the white ball series against Australia will head back home. Pandya was seen saying, “he won’t mind staying with the team for Test leg against Australia starting December 17” but after the final match, he confirmed he will head back to India.

Pandya recently came back from his injury. He underwent back surgery in October 2019 in London. He is yet to be considered for bowling as he is still not confident about his injury.

However, in contrast to this, he was seen bowling a few overs in the 2nd One Day Internationals against Australia. Since then he hasn’t bowled.

The dashing all-rounder batted really well throughout the whole white ball series. He was in a disastrous form in the recently concluded games.

Pandya after two days confirmed that he will be returning home.

It is management’s call on his stay, says Pandya:

“I think I should go back home and spend some time with my family. I have been away from my child for four months, so I would love to spend some good time with the family right now,” Hardik after 3rd T20I.

“Maybe in the coming days. I don’t know, maybe,” he added.

Pandya earlier was asked about his stay with the team for the Test series, he said,” Test game is a different ball game, I think I need to be, I mean I don’t mind staying back with the team but at the end of the day its management who decides.”

Hardik Pandya was awarded “Man of the Series” for his brilliant form whit the bat.

“I am quite happy and would not mind receiving the “Man of the Series” award. But it was the team effort which won us the series.”

“After the loss in the second ODI, we decided that we will consider it as the four-game series. We were hoping we will manage to win three out of four and we got it right.”

India after losing two back-to-back ODI games fought back brilliantly to win three games in a trot. Men in Blues took the T20I series 2-1 while Australia bagged the ODI series by the same margin.

Pandya was in and out of the team for most of 2019. He went through his back surgery and was expected to be out of the game for almost 4-5 months. But it took him 1 year to get back to normal to compete in the International games.

It is yet to be seen when he will bowl confidently in International cricket. However, after this series, he will surely try to get going with the ball too.

The all-round show from the Australian helped them prevent a clean sweep against India in the final T20I at Sydney. Virat Kohli’s well-fought 85 runs could not prevent a 12 runs loss in the 3rd Twenty20 game against the hosts. With the win, Australia broke India’s 10 match winning streak.

India bagged the T20I series already in the second encounter 2-1. However, the loss in the third outing restricted India to get a 100% win record in the year 2020 in the shortest format of the game.

Earlier, India won the toss and opt to bowl without any change in the playing 11.

Australian Innings:

Australia played with their regular skipper in the 3rd T20I but he was sent to rest in the second over off Washington Sundar.

Matthew Wade looked in the same touch and picked from where he left in the previous game. Wade pushed his gears to make most of the power plays.

Steve Smith initially supported Wade but got out in the 10th over.

Matthew Wade completed his half-century very quickly. However, Maxwell from another end was smacking bowlers for some good reverse shots.

Maxwell also completes his half-century after some dropped chances from the Fielding side.

Wade in order to accelerate the innings, lost his wicket in the penultimate over off Shardul Thakur scoring 80 from 53. While Maxwell could not hit the ball in the last over and got bowled off T Natarajan.

With the supreme efforts from Matthew Wade (80 from 53) and Glenn Maxwell (54 from 36), Australia imposed 186-5 in 20 overs.

Returning with the figures 2/34 Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers while T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur picked one each.

India Innings:

India could not give a steady start to the chase, KL Rahul went for a duck in the second ball of the innings, trying to hit Maxwell to Long on.

Virat Kohli almost followed KL Rahul in the third over but was dropped by Steve Smith. 

Kohli made most of the given opportunities as he was dropped by Andrew Tye off his own bowling.

The Indian Skipper was the lone warrior in the run chase, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson were sent in quick succession by Mitchell Swepson.

Hardik Pandya stepped in to support the skipper but went back to duck-out after getting 20 from 13. With the increasing pressure at the death overs, Kohli went off Andrew Tye but was caught at the backward point.

Danial Sams picked a good catch by diving forward departing skipper Kohli (85 off 61). Kohli hit 4 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings.

At the end of 2 overs, India were restricted to just 174-7. Australia prevented a complete sweep as they won the final T20I by 12 runs.

Mitchell Swepson was Australia’s bowling pick, picking 3 scalps for just 23 runs.

India and Australia will now begin preparing for the Test Series starting 17th December.
