Sanjay Manjrekar backs Hardik Pandya for pure number 6 batsmen in ODIs

Sanjay Manjrekar India’s former Batsman backs Hardik Pandya for pure number 6 batsmen in ODIs.

Sanjay Manjrekar who earlier criticized selectors for the selection of all-rounder in One Day Squad against Australia seems to have changed his mind. Former Indian Batsmen, Sanjay Manjrekar backs Hardik Pandya as a pure number 6 batsmen in ODIs for India. After a rollicking performance from the dashing Hardik Pandya in the third and final ODI against Australia. Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik’s match-winning partnership of 150 runs avoided a clean sweep.

Sanjay Manjrekar while commentary in Sony Six heaped praise on Hardik Pandya for his match-winning 92 in the final ODI while unbeaten 90 in the first game. Manjrekar who initially looked confused about his selection, later said, “India has found the perfect number 6 batsmen in the form of Hardik Pandya.”

Even though the all-rounder is not fully sure about his bowling but he is showing good intent with his batting performance. The former Indian batsman, Sanjay Manjrekar added that he was impressed with Pandya’s maturity during both the knocks in Canberra and Sydney.

He is a pure number 6 batsman:

I was a bit spectacle when the selectors picked him on the basis of IPL performance. I thought he was a good Twenty20 batsman but One Day- is a slightly different format. Can Hardik Pandya be a pure 50 over batsman and he proved his mettle in support,” Sanjay Manjrekar on Sony Six.

He scored 90 runs in the first encounter too but we have seen him scoring runs and not be consistent enough. He proved us wrong and scored a good match-winning knock in the final ODI against Australia. So yes, India has found a pure number 6 batsman.”

Manjrekar accepted that Pandya’s brilliant performance in the series forced him to alter his thoughts on the all-rounder. He initially believed that Manish Pandey would be a much better option for India in the number 6 position.

It was not a Twenty20 game, Men In Blue lost a few early wickets. He got 30 runs from 30 balls. He has that range and not many bowers can keep him shut for long period. That’s really impressive. He has convinced me as I was dicey about him at number 6 pure batsman.”

Whether he bowls or not, India has found a capable and reliable batsman who can be used at number 5 or 6 in the near future.”

After his stellar performance in the series, Pandya amassed a total of 210 runs in the three-match series. He will surely continue his heroic show in the T20Is ahead.

Being one of the most successful franchises and consistent at the same time, CSK could not manage to reach the playoffs for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). MS Dhoni-led side believed in retaining the core which consists of experienced batsmen and bowlers. This time the core is on the wrong side of the 30s and CSK has confessed to change the core before IPL 2021.

Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulled back from the thirteenth edition of IPL citing personal reasons, pulled CSK backward. Super Kings could not fill the gaps.

With management’s decision to change the core at the same time invest in valuable players, CSK will release these three players ahead of IPL 2021.

3 Players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should release:

Piyush Chawla:

Chennai Super Kings bagged the Indian leg spinner at the 2020 IPL Auctions for whopping 6.75 crores. He was the costliest pick from the Indian slot in 2020. With more responsibilities coming up for him after Harbhajan Singh pulled out, Chawla couldn’t convert it to gold.

The senior player was seen warming the bench almost half the tournament. Piyush played seven games and picked just 6 scalps. CSK will release him and might purchase in Auctions at a much lower price. But as of now, he might get released from the side.

Murli Vijay:

He might not be the regular face in T20 cricket in the last few years but the Chennai batsman made his mark in the IPL with CSK and enjoyed glory. However, he made his comeback in 2018 again with CSK.

Vijay got his opportunities to open after Raina pulled back but he could not manage to convert it. The batsman was benched almost the whole season. He got chances in the first 3 games where he scored mere 32 runs with an average strike rate of 74.41.

As Vijay is not in his prime form in the T20 format, CSK might leave him free.

Kedar Jadhav:

The story of his IPL 2020 gets summarized with 62 runs in 66 balls at a strike rate of 93.93. Kedar Jadhav was brought for 7.8 crores in IPL 2018 but the management will be reluctant to keep him for the next seasons.

Jadhav being an all-rounder never bowled in the history of IPL. Also, he was left behind after 8 games due to his poor form.

Kedar Jadhav is someone who is inculpated for Chennai’s poor show. He will be the one who can be released by the side.

Australia vs India 3rd ODI: Team India opened its account in the Australian tour as they defeated the hosts by 13 runs in the third and final ODI of the series. With the win in the final game, Men in Blues also added points to the World Cup Super League points table. However, the home team has bagged the series with 2-1.

Both the sides made some changes to the side. Virat Kohli made as many as four changes, T Natarajan replaced Mohd. Shami, Shardul Thakur replaced Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav replaced Yuzvendra Chahal and Shubman Gill came in place of Mayank Agarwal.

Aaron Finch called Aston Agar, Sean Abbott, Cameron Green in place of Warner, Starc, and Cummins in the final eleven.

India Innings:

Shikhar Dhawan once again put up a flop show, he departed in 6th over off the debutant Sean Abbott. While Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill took innings past 80 inside 14 overs. Gill was sent to the hut, attempting to sweep Aston Agar.

Shreyas Iyer (19 from 21 balls) and KL Rahul (5 off 11 balls) could not do much for the side as they went cheaply.

Virat Kohli completed his half-century and also completed his 12,000 runs in ODI Cricket. He becomes the fastest to reach the landmark.

Josh Hazlewood’s efforts sent Kohli (63 from 78) to the dugout with an angled ball which took the edge and went straight to the wicketkeeper.

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took the charge of the innings in the death overs. Both the all-rounders stitched a good 150 runs stand for the 6th wicket-taking the scoreboard to 302-5 in 20 overs.

Pandya returned after scoring 92 runs while Jadeja smashed 66 runs to the score.

Australian Innings:

In response to the below-par total in Manuka Oval’s surface, Australia could not manage to give a usual start. Marnus Labuschagne in place of injured Warner went cheaply off the debutant T. Natarajan. Australians missed the services of dashing opener David Warner in the third ODI.

While Shardul Thakur ended Smith’s century streak in 12 over. Moises Henriques (22 from 31) and Cameron Green (21 from 27) could not do much against India in the final ODI.

However, skipper Finch completed his third half-century in a trot after a few chances in the beginning. Finch departed scoring 75 runs in 82 deliveries off Ravindra Jadeja attempting to clear the fence.

In form, Glenn Maxwell gave some good shorts to Men in Blue after he smashed a quickfire 59 from 38 balls. Jasprit Bumrah who was wicketless till 44th over picked Maxwell with a well-executed toe crusher.

With the wicket of Maxwell, India took easy back-to-back wickets of tail-enders to end the losing streak and avoid a clean sweep.

Shardul Thakur for India returned with 3/51 in 10 overs while Bumrah and Natarajan got 2 each. Spinner also managed to pick one in their bag.

Gautam Gambhir: Ravi Shastri should be responsible for the miscommunication

0

Gautam Gambhir: Ravi Shastri should be responsible for the miscommunication between the players. Gambhir and VVS Laxman in a talk show, Ravi Shastri should be responsible for the miscommunication on Rohit Sharma’s injury updates.

Gautam Gambhir in a cricket talk show pointed fingers at Indian National Team’s head coach Ravi Shastri for the miscommunication for Rohit’s injury update to Virat Kohli. Gambhir feels the communication gap between two senior players is “unfortunate” and the onus was on the head coach to inform the skipper.

Virat Kohli before the start of the ODI Series in a video conference didn’t hide his displeasure at Rohit’s injury updates. The skipper stated “Lack of clarity on the issue” has led the management to the “waiting game” on his availability.

However, the former Indian opener told, the situation could be handled in a better way.

It is very unfortunate: Gambhir

It is very unfortunate for him as he is the captain of the side. Virat said to the media, he has no idea about the injury updates. The most important people involved in this are head physio, the head coach and chairman of selectors to inform about the situation.”

All these peoples should be on the same page and should have informed the skipper on the injury updates of the senior opener.

Gambhir also notified the importance of Rohit Sharma in the squad is vital for India, where the hosts have already bagged the series with a 2-0 lead in the three-game ODI series.

The most important player of your squad is injured and you have no clue about the situation. It is very unfortunate for Virat to go to a press conference without any updates.”

Rohit Sharma is currently completing his rehab at National Cricket Acadamy Banglore. The medical team will assess him on 11th December whether he will be fit or not.

Sharma is going to miss the first two Tests games while the next two are also under scanner due to harsh quarantine restrictions imposed by the Australian Government.

VVS Laxman on the issue:

However, the batting stalwart VVS Laxman agreed to Gambhir’s statement on lack of clarity.

Rohit Sharma should have been with the side and the lack of clarity and communication gap is disappointing. I am really surprised especially in this age of communication where there are so many WhatsApp groups and mail goes around every time,” VVS Laxman said.

I am sure there will be a group of team management, the chairman of selectors, and head of the medical team. Usually, everything is updated to the team management.

After a successful season of Indian Premier League for the left-arm fast bowler, T Natarajan has finally got his ODI cap in the 3rd ODI against Australia at Canberra. T. Natarajan for Sunriesrs Hyderabad in IPL picked 16 wickets in 16 appearances. The speedster got into the limelight after he started executing his yorkers and bowled the most toe crushers in the thirteenth season of IPL.

With his ability to bowl under pressure, BCCI gave him the opportunity to travel with Team India for the Australian tour as a net bowler. However, spinner Varun Chakravarthy pulled out of the T20 series due to injury, and Natrajan was named as his replacement in the T20I side.

The speedster was called as Saini’s backup after he started complaining of Back Spasm.

The Covid-19 positives case increases to 10 as three more fresh cases arrive in the Pakistani squad before the tour opener. The result for one more test is still pending. In the fresh round of checkups, 46 members of the Pakistan Squad were tested for the virus.

The Pakistan cricket team is on the tour of New Zealand for three-match T20I series and 2 match test series starting on December 18. However, it seems there is a break in the tour right now as the fresh new cases are coming from the visitors.

Pakistan Squad is already on alert for breaching the quarantine protocols and strict rules for the safety of players.

New Zealand’s director-general of health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield earlier criticized Pakistan for not following the rules set by the country.

Pakistan is already given a warning for the breach. To come and play the sport in New Zealand is a privilege but in return, teams must stick to the rules and regulations set to keep viruses away from the communities and our staff.

The health ministry also said the ban on the training of Pakistan will not be removed till the green signal is given to us by the medical officer of health.

The Ambani’s owned franchise in the Indian Premier League is one of the prominent sides in T20 history. Mumbai Indians in the shadow of skipper Rohit Sharma touched the sky five times till now. In IPL 2020 Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to lift the trophy for the fifth time and the second team to won the title consecutively.

Despite the worst record in the UAE last time with five losses in five games, Mumbai emerged as the winner. The inexperienced spin bowling department looked a bit of a concern for the side, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya proved they are no less than another spinner.

With a well-settled core, Mumbai Indians will never go for much change in the side if auctions are conducted. However, there will be some players who might be released in order to free up the slot and purse.

3 Overseas Players Mumbai Indians should release ahead of IPL 2021:

Chris Lynn:

Chris Lynn Mumbai Indians
Chris Lynn Mumbai Indians

The signings of the Australian explosive opener was thought to be one of the good steals for Mumbai Indians at the base price of 2 Crore Rupees in the IPL 2020 Auctions. However, Chris Lynn did not feature in any of the games for Mumbai Indians despite Rohit Sharma getting injured.

The opener was brought to get a backup for the openers while he didn’t get a chance in the playing eleven. Lynn’s exclusion might be because of his poor form in the CPL 2020 where the Australian faced difficulties in facing spin bowling in CPL.

Mumbai Indians might free up Chris Lynn in the IPL 2021 Auctions to release one foreign slot and with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, and Ishan Kishan, Lynn is unlikely to get the chance.

Sherfane Rutherford:

Sherfane Rutherford Mumbai Indians

The Carrebian all-rounder was traded in from Delhi Capitals in exchange for spinner Mayank Markande with the help of the trade window. Previously, when given chance Rutherford could not make his impact with Delhi Capitals. In fact, he does not own any such great records in the T20 format.

The power-hitting capability of the all-rounder could come in handy for MI. Rutherford benched the whole season and just used him as a utility. Mumbai will likely release the all-rounder ahead of IPL 2021 Auctions.

Mitchell McClenaghan:

Mitchell McClenghan Mumbai Indians

The kiwi pacer who served Mumbai Indian for almost 5 years is on the list of likely to be released players. McClenaghan is the unsung hero behind the 2015 and 2017 IPL titles for Mumbai Indians. He didn’t receive what he deserved and what services he gave.

In recent years, the kiwi pacer lost his touch and benched the whole 2020 season. With the likes of Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, and new additions James Pattinson and Nathen Coulter-Nile, MI would look to free him from the franchise.

Australia vs India: Australian skipper names three replacements for David Warner

Australia vs India: Australian skipper names three replacements for David Warner. Aaron Finch on Tuesday opened up about Warner’s replacement. Australia vs India: Australian skipper names three replacements for David Warner.

The Australian skipper Aaron Finch on Tuesday in conversation with cricket.com.au opened up about opener David Warner’s replacements in the limited over series. Mathew Wade, Marnus Labuschagne, and Alex Carey are probable players who can come up and bat at Warner’s position for the team in remaining white-ball fixtures.

Australian opener David Warner who scored two back-to-back half-centuries in the first two-game got injured while fielding in the second ODI on Sunday. He quickly went for the scan and found out groin injury. Cricket Australia has already ruled out the opener batsman from the remaining white-ball fixtures against India. However, Cricket Australia prioritize the test side and wants Warner to be ready before the test series against India.

Aaron Finch on Warner’s replacement:

We haven’t selected our team yet, but we have got a few options on our side. We have some options, Wadey in the side can be up for the side or Marnus comes up and opens the inning, Alex Carey has done a lot of it in the past,” cricket.com.au quoted Finch as saying.

But our middle order has been playing really well over the last little while. That is what reflected in the scoreboard of being two-nil up in the series. You can look to experiment if you want to do that or you can play safe,” he added.

Finch praised Warner for his batting over the white ball format and reckons him as one of the best in the business of all time.

He is an all-time great in one-day and T20 cricket. I do not think there are many better players to have played the game,” said Finch.

Any side he is not part of is definitely going to be slightly weaker without his presence but we have few options available and we will look forward to use them.”

The home side has already won the series with 2-0 lead in the second game itslef while they will be exciented to clean sweep the visitors.
