Mohammed Siraj is currently with Team India in Australia for the long grueling season with the Kangaroos. The Board of Control for Cricket in India gave the pacer an option to return home for the last rites but he chooses to stay with the team and perform to accomplish his late father’s dream.

My Father wanted me to represent India:

It is a very big loss for me, my father always supported me. It was his dream that I keep on playing for India and make the country proud. I just want to fulfill my father’s dream and that is why I keep on thinking that my father will always be there with me,” Siraj told BCCI.TV.

My mother told me to stay with the team in Australia and perform well. Everyone has to go one day. Today is your dad, some other day it will be me. You just need to focus on what your dad wanted you to do.

The RCB pacer comes from a humble background and his father supported him with every possible resource.

Virat’s Advice to stay Strong:

Siraj also disclosed how India’s skipper Virat’s advice pushed him to stay strong.

Virat told me not to get tensed and to be strong in hard times. Your father wanted you to play for India, focus on that,” Siraj on BCCI.TV.

I lost my support system. It is a very huge loss for me and my family. He wanted me to shine and play cricket for India, I am now focused to fulfill his dream.

Siraj will be with the team for the upcoming Australian season which starts on November 27. The pacer is part of the Test series between India and Australia which will start from 17 December. This will be the debut season for the youngster in Tests.

Although he did not play the full season due to team combinations, he provided enough strength to the bowling unit and picked crucial wickets under pressure.

The left-handed star Australian opener vowed he will not respond to any of the comments during the series against India. The star batsman while talking to news agency AFP said that he will be more humble towards the opposition and will try to reply with my sword.

The southpaw says he has learned from his past tour to India not to indulge in any conversations. Warner said, Team India prefers to have some conversation especially during tests, I will keep myself in control and it would be better if my teammates also do the same and reply with the performances.

“The last time we toured in India they really engaged us like that.”

We are learning over the time, especially myself, if you look not to take part in that, you are almost reversing the effect by ignoring it, trying to make it in, using your bat.”

“You don’t really know what impact these (commenting and sledging) will have on our teammates. So you have to be a bit more humble and respectful towards the opposition,” Warner added.

The left-handed batsman is also concerned about the image he will be portraying to his kids. He needs to be more patient and kind.

You have to be patient, not get too aggressive, not get angry when the kids aren’t listening,” he said. “So I’m getting tested on and off the field.”

Warner hints on the opening spot:

Warner also backed his opening partner Joe Burns, who is getting a tough competition from the young talent Will Pucovski for the opening spot.

“I and Joe have spend a lot of time together batting, we know what we’re about when we’re out there.”

“Obviously, we won a lot of games last year. So for me, you don’t break something that’s actually working.”

David Warner hails the young rising talent Will Pucovski for his splendid performance for Victoria.

“Will is an amazing player and an exceptional talent and a great player in the years to come.”

Australia and India will start the tour on 17 November with the three matches ODI series backed by the three-match T20I series. The last of all will be the four-match historic Test series.

Team India’s head coach opened about the participation of the senior players in the Test cricket held in Australia. Ravi Shastri in conversation with ABC sports told that Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma need to arrive on Australian soil for participation in the upcoming historic test series.

Both the veteran players are currently under rehab at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore headed by director Rahul Dravid. Rohit Sharma was ruled out by the left hamstring injury in the match against Kings XI Punjab which subsequently went for double super over. However the speedster, Ishant Sharma was sent to rehab due to side strain in the first match of Delhi Capitals.

Both the talented cricketers have been seen practicing at NCA.

Shastri on Rohit Sharma:

“Rohit is going through some tests at NCA and that will decide how long he needs to take a break. But things will start becoming difficult once he is asked to wait for too long, because then you are talking of the quarantine again, which might make it really tough for even him to come just in time for the Test series.”

After reaching the host country, Australia both the player, who is currently at NCA, will have to undergo 14 days mandatory quarantine period. Team India will play 3 days warm up test on December 11. Therefore to complete the isolation period to play the warm-up test, both the player needs to make sure they arrive in Australia by November 26.

Shastri told that “Rohit was never going to play the limited over series against Australia, they were just looking how much rest is needed to recover fully. You cannot afford to take a long rest. If they are to play the longest format or the red/pink ball series they got to be in flight in the next three-four days.”

Ravi Shastri on Ishant Sharma:

Shastri on Ishant Sharma,” The similar case to Rohit Sharma. You don’t really know how quickly he will be given permission to fly. Like I said earlier, if you need to play the test series, you need to be here in the next three-four days’ time.”

Rohit Sharma during his interview few days back said that he is completely fine now. He is recovering very well. Some work needs to be done and I am ready to go.

The dashing opener also talked about his role in the test matches. He said, he is prepared to play at any given position. I know how to bounce back once left out.

Australia vs India: Rohit Sharma, “Happy to bat anywhere, where management wants.” Team India’s dashing opener says I can bat anywhere in the order. Australia vs India: Rohit Sharma, “Happy to bat anywhere, where management wants.”

Rohit Sharma has enjoyed his new role in the longest format of the game as an opener but Rohit Sharma says, he is fully flexible to bat at any given position in the series against Australia. The limited over vice-captain will have a huge role to play alongside regular test batsman Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara in absence of the skipper. Virat Kohli will return back to India after the first test match for the birth of his child.

Rohit Sharma on his role:

Rohit Sharma in the detailed interview with PTI, “I will say you the same thing that I have told everyone all this while. I am happy to bat wherever the team wants me but I don’t know if they would change my role as an opener.”

The Mumbai-based batsman feels that the management will have discussed my role by the time I reach the host country. Rohit is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore to do his conditioning and strength training. He injured himself in the match against Kings XI Punjab.

“I am sure that the guys have figured out the possible roles when Virat will fly back home and who will open the innings.”

“Once I reach Australia probably I will have a clearer idea of what is going to happen.”

Australian Pitches and use of ball:

Mumbai Indians Skipper reckons that the character of Australian pitches has changed over the years. There is not that of bounce that it used to have earlier. Except for Perth, I don’t think other grounds offer you bounce in the present time.

“Nowadays as an opener, I will keep in mind playing as straight as possible. I will have to think about not playing pull or cut short and play in the “V” more.”

“Whoever bowls Starc, Cummins, or Hazlewood, they would definitely pitch it up and look for the movement, the use of bouncer will be minimized as there is no offering of bounce in the pitches.”

Hitman says there will be a majority use of pitches up balls and towards the bat. The use of Bouncers will be minimized. He quoted the example of Nathan Lyon, who picked 8 wickets in the Perth Test back in 2018-19.

“It was Nathan Lyon who picked 8 wickets in the test match in Perth, including a five-for. In Australia, half the job is done if you can start well upfront.”

How important are the basics in Test Cricket:

The dashing opener says, sticking on the basics is the key in test cricket and then you can develop your own technique around it.

“I would be going with the basics of the red ball cricket and then top up with other things. That’s how you take the game forward in the longest format of Cricket.”

The 33 years old feels completely prepared for the test series against Australia.” I am prepared mentally, I have enough setbacks in past, long lay-offs due to injuries and poor form. I know how to come back strongly,” he signed off.

Team India’s lethal pacer says he is in the “right zone” after his performance in the Indian Premier League 2020 and says he is comfortably practicing for the Australia tour “without any pressure.”

Shami delivered one of his most successful seasons though they could not qualify. The craftiest pacer picked 20 scalps in 14 outings becoming the bowler with the most wicket for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020. His five runs save in the double super over against defending champions is one of the highlights of his performance in the thirteenth edition of the Indian T20 League.

“My execution in Indian Premier League for KXIP has given a lot of boost to my confidence and put me in the right zone,” says Shami in BCCI.TV.

“The biggest gain for me is, I can practice for the upcoming season without any pressure. I have no burden on me right now. Feeling very confident at present.”

“I knew that IPL is going to be conducted sooner or later so I was working on myself, whole lockdown to be fit.”

Mohd. Shami took no time saying that Test Cricket is my priority right now and I am getting into the groove with the practice sessions over last one week.

Shami on India’s Bowling in Australia vs India:

“We have a long tour with Australia, starting with the limited over cricket and then pink ball/red-ball matches. My first priority is the long format of the game and I’m working on the lengths and seam movements.”

“I have always thought once you pitch the ball in the right area, you are going to be succeed in any format weather it is white ball or red ball.”

“You have to stick to the basics. The game is of control. I have controlled with the white ball, Now I need to practice it with the red ball. The basics are the same and we need to stick to it.”

This time the Australian lineup is tough with the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith which were absent in the victorious campaign in 2018-19.

“We have quality batsman in India. We bowl to them in nets, we don’t look at them. The team focuses on the skills that we require. One good ball and the game is over for the batsman.”

“Our pacers are lethal. They can clock at 140 kmph or even higher, you need that kind of attack in Australia. Our reserves are also quality and can do the same in a given opportunity.”

IPL 2021: A few days ago, the defending champions Mumbai Indians won their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title. Rohit Sharma got his fifth title as a captain and sixth as a player. The former Indian cricket players lauded Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians for the win.

However, at the same time, it was being speculated that Virat Kohli should leave the captaincy of Royal Challenger Bangalore. He has got the same platform which Rohit got but he could not manage to win any while the latter got 5 titles.

Rohit Sharma on detailed talks with the PTI also gave his views on the issue. He says, “Lot of people say that I can do it with other franchises also. Firstly, why shall I need to do it with other team? There are certain terms and conditions by which a team goes and I same way I also want to go, both as a player and as a leader.”

“No team can become good overnight. There needs a lot of work behind to become successful. It is just Mumbai Indians do not believe in changing and chopping a lot. Every player including Rohit Sharma was available in 2011 auctions. Just that Mumbai Indians (MI) picked and believed.”

MI Skipper on Trent Boult:

I am happy with the way our team works. They got us New Zealand pacer, Trent Boult. The pacer did wonders for the franchise in 2020. Picking crucial wickets in powerplays is very important and he fulfilled it.

“New Zealand pacer Trent Boult was with DC last year, and with Sunrisers Hyderabad before that. We wanted someone to pick wickets upfront and swing the ball, we got him at the right time.”

“Trent Boult is someone whom we pursuit and I’m proud that we got him.”

It was extremely important for us to be in a happy space. MI did wonders for us providing a space where we can express ourselves. Being in a bio-bubble for 80 days is a big thing. Mumbai Indians didn’t let us feel any claustrophobic during the season. I am happy to be part of the franchise.

Rohit Sharma on Surya Kumar Yadav:

Rohit Sharma also talked about leadership and how he gives players the liberty to express themselves. He cited Surya Kumar Yadav’s example of how composed he was while dealing with Team India’s rejection.

“We were sitting in the team room and I could see how much dejected he was for not getting the national call. I didn’t go but he came to me and said, “Don’t worry I will get over it and win matches for MI.”

“That time I realized he was in the right path not only in terms of IPL but overall career.”
