India vs Australia: Rohit Sharma over long talks with PTI cleared the speculation and gives the update on his hamstring injury. Rohit Sharma is currently at the National Cricket Academy headed by Rahul Dravid. He reckons he is recovering fine and hopefully he will be 100% fit for the Australia series.

The Indian white-ball vice-captain came into the news after he was left from the squads of the Australia tour. Rohit Sharma’s exemption for the side was a huge shock for the fans and started making speculations. Soon after the release of the squads’ Hitman was seen in nets practicing for Mumbai Indians. 

Rohit had suffered a hamstring injury during Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians match which went for double super overs. Rohit missed a couple of games stating the injury but came back into the game before the playoffs. However, the BCCI president said,” our medical team is in contact with Rohit Sharma and we are also wanting Rohit to play in the Australia tour.”

Subsequently, Rohit Sharma was added to the test side for the Australia tour. BCCI gave him the rest for the white ball fixture to become 100% fit for the longest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma Updates on his injury:

Rohit Sharma giving light on the situation said,” I don’t know what was going on, to be honest, and what all people were talking about.”

“I told the Mumbai Indias that I can go into the field as it is the short format of the game. Once, I made clear in my mind, then it was just focusing on what I needed to do.”

“The injury is fine now. I have started the process of getting it nice and want to become 100% sure before the longest format. I don’t want to leave a single stone unturned for the tour and that’s probably the reason behind me at NCA.”

“To be honest, for me it was not a concern what x, y, or z are talking like whether he could make it to Australia,” Rohit added.

“Once the injury happened, the next two days I was just featuring out, what to do in the next 10 days. Whether I could take the field or not.”

“For me, I need to make sure that I’m fit. I was not concerned about anyone or what people are thinking. I want to make it to the records that I was constantly in touch with BCCI and Mumbai Indians regarding the injury.”

As per the South Australia government, the lockdown set to be lifted on Saturday in the Southern part of Australia. The first test between the two cricketing giants is expected to go with the schedule. Adelaide to host the first iconic test between India-Australia from 17 December.

“Next month’s D/N test between India and Australia had looked in danger as the COVID cluster hit South Australia last week. The state’s chief public health officer stating this week, there is no guarantee they could host the match.”

In response to the COVID cluster in south Australia, Melbourne or Sydney could step up in the tough times to host the match without any dely.

“But Saturday’s news of neutralizing the lockdown from midnight Saturday will ensure that the fixture on December 17 is still alive.”

No COVID cases were recorded on Thursday, while the state recorded three new cases on Friday as per the state government data. The Government of South Australia has decided to lift the restrictions early.

Although the tough times has hit everyone hard but it seems fans are quite excited to witness the game live here in Australia. Ever since Cricket Australia decided to interact with the fans, the tickets were sold in record time. Almost all seats are full as per the rules of half number of seats will be available for the matches to ensure the safety of fans and players at the same time.

Adelaide will allow 27,000 fans in a single day. Melbourne will accommodate 25,000 fans per day. Sydney Cricket Ground will host 50% of its seating capacity while Gaba will host the most number of fans in a day for the India-Australia series.

Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) implemented new rules for the determination of finalists of ICC World Test Champianship. The new rules slipped Team India to the second position while Australia climbs up to claim the top position.

Now the ranking will be determined on the basis of the percentage of matches won by a team. Australia has a winning percentage of 82.2% while India has a 75.00% winning ratio.

The series against Australia will carry huge importance as it can lift India to the top spot. India will definitely look to win the series, repeating the history of 2018-19 test series. The debate erupted soon after Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma lifted the 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) title. With many cricket pundits backing the idea of split captaincy while some are against it. Experts say that Team India should hand over at least T20 leadership to the IPL’s most successful captain Rohit Sharma.

Kapil Dev on Split Captaincy:

“It would not turn out well in our culture. A company can have two CEO? No. If Virat is playing T20 format and he is doing well enough for the side. Let it be. Even though I would love to watch people coming out, but it is pretty difficult,” Kapil dev in leadership summit.

“Team India’s almost 70-80% team is same across all the formats of cricket. Players do not like to have captains with different theories. It might create differences between the players who look up to the captain,” Dev added.

“If you implement split captaincy, players will change their behavior. They might think, he is going to be my test captain, I will not annoy him”.

Kapil Dev on Pacers of modern time:

The 61 years old world cup winning captain says pacers opting for too many variations saddens him.

“I am not happy with the pacers of present times. You cannot opt to bowl a cross-seam delivery in the first ball of the over. Players in IPL 2020 realized that moving ball is more important than variations. Sandeep Sharma was much difficult to read in 120 kmph due to the swing he was getting.”

“You cannot run from the art of swing. They need to understand it is not variations or pace, it is swing. Sunrisers Hyderabad, T Natarajan was my hero in the Indian Premier League 2020. He bowled too many yorkers and was fearless in his approach.”

“Keep your wrist straight and hold the ball up for the swing. If your ball swings test match becomes more important. Wasim, Botham, Willis, Hadlee, McGrath look how good they were.”

“The art of swinging ball should come back to the cricket. If you know lots of variations, knuckleball but you don’t know the swing, it is totally waste,” the 61-year-old said.

“Look at Mohd. Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. As a cricketer, it gives me immense happiness that we depend a lot on fast bowlers. Our bowlers are capable of taking 20 wickets in a match.”

“We also appealed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the test cricket. These days franchise and T20 cricket taking over test cricket. If test cricket dies, I would say ICC has done the worst thing.”

The veteran also added, whoever wins the upcoming India-Australia test series should go on to win the ICC World Test Championship title.

Sanjay Manjrekar sacked from BCCI panel:

Sanjay Manjrekar was sacked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the list soon before the series with South Africa, which got canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The former cricketer was also not named in the list of commentators for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Notably, Manjrekar during ODI World Cup 2019 made comment on Ravindra Jadeja saying “bits-and-pieces player”. Jadeja did not like the comment made by the veteran and gesticulated angrily towards the commentary box after his half-century against New Zealand in the semi-final.

Sanjay Manjrekar in talks with The Indian Express, BCCI called him on the phone that he was sacked because “some player did not like my attitude, they had an issue with me as a commentator”. 

The commentator reckoned, he would be “happy to apologize” for the unwilling comment. He even wrote to the board to reinstate him twice, he was shaken by the decision and it was a “big jolt” for him. But the authorities did not include him in the on-air talks after that.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India cannot have much to say in the upcoming India-Australia series. The rights for broadcasting belongs to the Australian Cricket Board. Cricket Australia will make the choice for the commentary and CA has included Sanjay Manjrekar in the list along with other veterans too.

The same is the case with Varun Chakravarthy. He is a talented young mystery spinner and every franchise wants these players. Kolkata Knight Riders should think of a three-year strategy from here. Shubman Gill should be given Captaincy and the team should revolve around him.

In 2018, Delhi Capitals gave the captaincy to Shreyas Iyer. The coaching staff and members played a key role in molding him as a good captain. After two years he reached the maiden finals of the Indian Premier League. A similar should be done with Gill. He can change the fortunes of the franchise.

“As the Auctions are close, KKR should think of retaining three main players, Shubman Gill, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell,” he added.

Players to be released by KKR in IPL 2021 Auctions:

During his Facebook video, he also discussed about Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, and Sunil Narine. The renowned commentator opined his thoughts, saying KKR should let Karthik, Morgan, Cummins, and Narine go. They have to find a replacement for them.

Dinesh Karthik is not gonna play for three years with the franchise, Eoin Morgan should be released. Pat Cummins was brought by KKR for a hefty price of 15.5 crores, you should leave him for the auctions. If KKR retains him, they might lose the huge budget. Sunil Narine has the same story, not a good season with ball and bat. 

But if KKR wants, they can buy them form the auctions, they will be much cheaper.

“They should release Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, and Sunil Narine and build a strong team replacing them. They can buy these players from Auctions directly if they really want them,” Chopra added.

International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the new set of rules and percentage system for the ICC World Test Championship. Australia toppled table-toppers till Thursday as soon as the new rule gets implemented. The governing council said that the finalist of the championship will be decided by the percentage of the points earned by the side and not only by the match points.

The ICC Cricket Committee headed by former Indian leg spinner, Anil Kumble recommended the new change due to COVID-19. The amended changes will determine the teams ranking with the percentage of points earned by a team in reference to how many matches are played and how many matches are won by the team. Unlike earlier, it was just decided on the basis of matches won, no matter how many matches they play. 

After the new implementation of rules, the teams who could not compete due to the global pandemic will feel more encouraged and safe.

Australia is now on the top of the points table of ICC World Test Championship with 82.2 winning percentage in three series they played, while India slipped down to number 2 with 75.0 win percentage in four series.

ICC’s Take on New Rules for ICC World Test Champianship:

“The Board approved a recommendation from the ICC Cricket Committee, headed by Anil Kumble, to change the competition terms for the event to determine how series affected by the global pandemic are accounted for on the points table”.

“The unprecedented disruption caused by COVID-19 means, to date, just under half of the World Test Championship matches have been played, with that estimated to rise to more than 85% by the end of the competition window,” ICC said in a statement released.

“Both the Cricket Committee and Chief Executives Committee supported the approach of ranking teams based on completed matches and points earned as this reflects their performance and doesn’t disadvantage teams that have been unable to compete all of their matches through no fault of their own,” said ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney.

“We explored a whole range of options, but our Members felt strongly that we should proceed as planned with the first ever World Test Championship Final in June next year,” he added.

The Board also shifted the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 9-26 February 2023, which was earlier to be held in 2022.

The thirteenth edition of IPL was a roller coaster ride for KXIP and fans. From losing six out of seven games to winning the next five games on a trot, KXIP had seen a lot. KL Rahul as a leader has proved his worth and improved as the season progressed. However, there are loopholes that management understands and will plug in the Mega Auction of IPL 2021.

“We have a new leader and a lot of new young faces, sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn’t. We are looking forward to plugging the gaps in the upcoming IPL 2021.”

Few overseas players did not perform up to the standards, Ness Wadia referring to Glenn Maxwell and pacer Sheldon Cottrell despite playing almost every game. 

Chris Gayle missed one game but due to food poisoning he could not play two more games, but he proved his worth when he played. Gayle scored 288 runs in 7 games and won matches for Kings XI Punjab.

“Chris Gayle has done enough to play for the next season in the franchise and hopefully he will continue his form.”

It is hard for the top order when the middle order is not doing well for the side. However, we have done a fairly decent job with that too. We have established our core and want to connect it with the young talents next time.

On the addition of the ninth team, Ness Wadia welcomes the BCCI decision for expansion. However, he says we are happy to welcome the new franchise as long as it does not hit the existing teams financially.

Three-Years Plan for KXIP:

Giving light to the three-year strategy plan under Anil Kumble and skipper KL Rahul, Wadia says we have charted the plan and want to stick to that. KL has done brilliant work for us in the recent few years. He has proved why we went after him so aggressively.

Losing six games in the beginning and winning five games later on back to back has given us a lot of confidence. KL as a leader is performing well, this was his first experience as the skipper. “The short-run given by the umpire which was actually not a short-run cost us the playoff berth. Umpiring standards needs to be improved for sure. This time it happened with us, next time it could be with some other team.”

Good news for the Indian cricket team and fans as the Test pace spearhead was seen bowling in the nets at National Cricket Acadamy (NCA). The pace lead of team India in tests is leaving no stone unshined to regain his fitness ahead of the India-Australia red ball clash. Ishant Sharma is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA) doing his rehab for his injury.

The tall pacer was ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2020 due to a left internal oblique muscle tear during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ishant could only make solidarity appearances for the Dream11 IPL 2020 runner-ups. 

The speedster was directly sent to the NCA after the injury to get fit headed by director Rahul Dravid and head physio Ashish Kaushik. Since then he is under their eyes and recovering to full fitness.

On Wednesday, ESPNcricinfo shared a video on their Twitter handle featuring Ishant Sharma bowling with his full run-up and action, Rahul Dravid and chief selector Sunil Joshi were also seen in the video watching the 32-years old bowling.

The BCCI president on an interview expected, Ishant Sharma to be fit ahead of the first Test match on 17th December.

“Yes, we are expecting Ishant to be back for the Test matches. He has already started bowling from shorter run-ups and short spells. He has bowled at NCA.

“But as there is a BCCI protocol for fast bowlers, Ishant will be playing the two first-class games in Australia,” Ganguly had said.

“As NCA head, Rahul Dravid said to the board that Ishant is recovering well, Ishant is working with Mhambrey to get fit for the test. As an experienced player, he will bring a lot of confidence to the side. In absence of Virat Kohli, he will be a key player for the test series.”

Will India rewrite History in Tests against Australia?

India will be looking to rewrite history by thrashing the side full of big stars for the second time. The first time India defeated Australia in the four-match test series in 2018-19, winning the series by 2-1. However, this time it will not be easy, as Australia will be seen featuring David Warner and Steve Smith after the ban.

Virat Kohli and Co. will play 12 months in a year to complete all the commitments made by the BCCI. However, the board admits, there will be a workload and playing all months is not easy. 

“We are aware of the workload on the players. BCCI is obligated to honor the pending commitments. We have enough talent on the bench and will make sure enough rest is given to the players ahead of any series. The rotation policy will surely play its part in the next 12  months.”

England Tour Of India 2021 (January- March):

India will host the England Cricket Team from January till March after the conclusion of the India tour of Australia. England and India will play 4 Tests, 4 ODIs, and 4 T20I in the tour.

Indian Premier League 2021 (March-May):

BCCI will host the Indian Premier League between March and May 2021. The player will be scheduled with their respective franchise. BCCI is likely to conduct a Mega Auction, so a lot of shuffling of players will be seen. It will be hard for players to jell in with the new franchises.

India Tour of Sri Lanka 2021 (June):

Team India will visit Sri Lanka for the limited-over series ahead of Asia Cup 2021. Sri Lanka and India will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20I in the run of the month in June.

Asia Cup 2021 (June-July):

The Asia Cup is scheduled to be conducted in June-July 2021. Sri Lanka will host the tournament in 2021. This will be a long series as all the Asian countries will take part. India will feel comfortable as they will play against Sri Lanka in the same month.

BCCI will host the T20 World Cup 2021 in October. This will be a long tournament as all the cricketing countries will come in and play. This tournament will last for at least 2 months.

New Zealand tour of India 2021 (November-December):

After hosting South Africa and T20 World Cup India will host New Zealand. The Black Caps army will fly to India in November for two test matches and three T20Is. 

India tour of South Africa 2021 (December):

After the hectic and tiring 11 months, India will fly to South Africa in December 2021. Both the sides will three-match test series and three-match T20I series to end the year.

Pakistan vs England: England will tour Pakistan after 16 years for T20I series. The cricket Boards confirmed that both teams will play Twenty20 matches. Pakistan vs England: England will tour Pakistan after 16 years for T20I series.

The England team will travel to Pakistan for the two-match Twenty20 series ahead of T20I World Cup. This will be the first time after 16 years, England will play against Pakistan on Pakistani soil.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the news on Wednesday with the fans. The English players will arrive at the Southern port city, Karachi on October 12 to play the two-match T20I series.

Both the teams will play two back to back games on 14th October and 15th October because of the T20 World Cup in 2021. After the back to back games, both the squads will fly to India on 16th October for the T20 World cup 2021.

The historic series between the two was initially scheduled for January 2021 but due to costs and availability of players, it got postponed until October 2021.

Boards on England tour of Pakistan 2021:

“As we showed earlier this summer, we have a strong connection with PCB and ECB is happy to play its part in confirming the safe return of International Cricket to the country of passionate fans”, ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said.

Harrison told that England Cricket Board is working closely with the PCB to assure the safety and security of its squad and “of course the situation regarding the fast-moving and ever-changing COVID-19 pandemic.”

“The Pakistan Cricket Board expects that England’s short tour will encourage visitors and showcase their ability to host International Matches in the 2022-23 season.”

“In the short tour of October 2021, England’s leading players will allow access and examine the world-class arrangements. This will further encourage them to return not only in the 2022-23 season but also gain interest in Pakistan Super League,” PCB chief executive Wasim Khan.


The last time both the teams met on Pakistani soil in 2005 for three test matches and five ODI games. However, PCB wanted England players to visit again but it could not be possible due to security concerns of the players. The subsequent series between Pakistan and England in 2012 and 2015 was held at UAE (Neutral Venue).
