Women T20 World Cup: Clash of the Titans! The world is set to see a new face as Champions of the Women’s T20 World Cup as South Africa Women and New Zealand Women emerge as finalists

The Women T20 World Cup is being played for its ninth edition, as the UAE turned hosts for the iconic ICC event in women’s cricket. Bangladesh, who were the initial hosts, later moved the tournament to the UAE due to the political unrest in the country.

After weeks of group-stage nurturing, the likes of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and West Indies women made it to the semi-finals of the competition. Likes of Indian women and England women were eliminated in their course to the knockouts.

Afterwards, South African women created history by breaking two records with a single semi-final win, as they broke their record of defeating Australian women for the first time in the history of the tournament. Also, this broke the Aussie Women’s winning streak after 15 years in the competition.

Now, in the second semi-final today at Sharjah, which featured New Zealand women alongside West Indies women, the Kiwi women have advanced to the finals with an 8-run victory over Windies women.

Both these two sides have advanced into the semi-finals before, as they have played the finals as well, just like the last final of the T20 World Cup was featured between Australia Women and South Africa Women.

However, this time around both these teams in the semis have never won the T20 World Cup, and either team winning would see a new team to have won the World Cup, as the world witnesses a new champion.

New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bat first on the track, as Suzie Bates, the highest T20 World Cup run scorer, came into bat alongside debutant Plimmer.

The opening stand seemed to be great for New Zealand before the experienced Windies campaigner who turned around retirement to feature in the last probable World Cup left the Blackcap women baffled with her 4-fer.

New Zealand Women could only post a total of 128 runs, which did not seem like a very huge total for the West Indies, who chased down the big score against England before entering the semis.

West Indies Women were very close to entering the finals for another time, while likes of class players Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor could not gather more runs, as Dottin once again started to fill off the match with the bat as she smashed a 33-run striking at 150. NZ’s Wonderwomen, Amelia Kerr once again struck with Dottin’s wicket.

Bates picked the final wicket of the game for New Zealand as they entered the finals; either team winning would create the record in the history of the tournament.

Virat Kohli: In what proves to be a phenomenal-achievement, legendary Indian Batsman Virat Kohli completed the 9000 runs mark in the longest format of the game. The 35-year-old attained this remarkable achievement during team India’s ongoing 1st test-match versus New Zealand in the city of Bangalore.

With youngster Shubman Gill missing the 1st test due to a neck-injury, the Men in Blue took the brave decision of promoting Kohli to the number three-position. Although the former Indian skipper gave his wicket away cheaply to Will O’Rourke for zero runs in the 1st inning, he rebounded in a strong fashion, slamming a remarkable half-century in the 2nd inning.

Besides rejuvenating with a half-century, Kohli became just the fourth Indian batsman to score 9000 runs in Test-Cricket. This, he joined the legendary-trio of little master Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, the three other players to have achieved the mile-stone in the five-day format.

Virat Kohli Uses A Brave Knock To Silence His Criticism

Indian fans severely criticized Kohli after he left the field for a duck in the opening inning. But for the umpteenth time, he proved his value in Indian colors by silencing his detractors with this half-century in a challenging circumstance. Regarding the game, India reacted forcefully to New Zealand’s massive first-innings score. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal for 35 runs, India’s deficit was much reduced by the brilliant half-centuries that Kohli, Rohit, and Sarfaraz Khan smashed. India was 214 for two at the time of writing, with Sarfaraz and Kohli each scoring 62 runs.

PAK vs ENG: Updated WTC Points-Table following Pakistan’s win in the 2nd test-match, Pakistan rise to the 8th spot

PAK vs ENG: Shan Masood-led Pakistan finally broke their lengthy losing-streak at home with a comfortable 152-run win over England in the 2nd test-match of the three-match series in the city of Multan on the 18th of October. This win marks the Green Shirt’s first test-victory on home-soil since February 2021 and the first under the captaincy of Shan Masood.

This victory for the Shaheens came after making some major changes in their squad following their heavy-defeat in the opening contest of the series, as Pakistan’s new-faces rose to the occasion.

PAK vs ENG: A brief synopsis of the 2nd Test-match

Debutant batter Kamran Ghulam, turned out to be the start of the Pakistani batting-unit, as he played an important inning of 118 runs in 224, which propelled the home-side to a 1st-inning score of 366 runs on a used Multan pitch.

The Three Lions, in reply, started their inning on a strong note and were comfortably sitting at a score of 211-2 on Day two, with Joe Root and Ben Duckett looking comfortable in the middle.

However, off-break spinner Sajid Khan, making a return to the squad, executed a substantial England batting-collapse. His phenomenal seven-wicket-haul restricted the tourists to a score of 291 runs and allowed the home-team take a valuable lead of 75-runs in the first inning.

In their 2nd inning, the Green Shirts managed to score 221 runs, setting England a difficult total of 297 runs on a declining pitch which had shown signs of major deterioration. The batting-lineup of the Englishmen struggled under-pressure, particularly versus the spinners, who made the ball talk on the Worn pitch of Multan.

Slow left arm orthodox spinner Noman Ali was the architect in chief, as he ended the contest with his test-career’s best figures of 8-46 and him along with Sajid Khan destroyed the Ben Stokes-led team for a mere 144 runs score.

The relentless efforts of the duo of Sajid and Noman helped Shan Masood & company secure an impressive 152- runs win, breaking their joint-longest home Test win drought and boosting their position in the overall standings of the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

Updated WTC Points-Table following Pakistan’s win

Pakistan, who had managed to secure just two victories in their previous nine contests in the longest format of the game in the current cycle of the WTC, have now moved from the ninth position to the eighth spot, with points-percentage (PCT) of 25.92.

England on the other hand, despite suffering a defeat in the second test-match, continue to remain at the fourth rank in the overall standings, though their PCT has seen a decline from 45.59

Rishabh Pant likely to step down as Delhi Capitals skipper; this Indian player to emerge as their new captain for IPL 2025

According to reports made by the Times of India, Indian star wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant will not lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, and they have conveyed their source to be reliable.

The latest reports from the TOI have also mentioned that the new coaching staff on the Delhi Capitals side are considering a new player in the role of a captain. Rishabh Pant might be replaced by the likes of teammate Axar Patel, as he is being considered as the next Capitals skipper.

Not only Axar, but the Delhi Capitals would also be in quest of a new player who can be a reliable captaincy source in the IPL. The auction is supposed to take place at the end of November, in a possible venue like Dubai.

However, Rishabh Pant is all set to be the franchise’s top priority player in their retention list, with the highest slab of retention amount. It is just that the Delhi Capitals leadership group feel that he is much better without the pressure of captaincy. Hence, the new DC management looks to try him over completely as a batter.

Though the Delhi Capitals have been a very convincing side, they last reached the playoffs back in IPL 2021 while the finals of 2020 was their best-ever finish where Shreyas Iyer was the skipper of the Delhi Capitals side. Back then Rishabh Pant was their second-highest scorer in the IPL for the Capitals alongside Shikhar Dhawan.

After having led the Delhi Capitals initially, he missed the 2023 edition of the IPL and returned to the tournament after a horrific accident in 2022. Pant led the Delhi Capitals in the last season when they finished in the sixth position.

Iyer might be brought back min

There also is a possible option if Kolkata Knight Riders are ready to part ways with their IPL title-winning skipper back in 2024. Shreyas Iyer might be returning to the Capitals squad and leading them in the role of a skipper.

The Delhi Capitals have recently named Hamang Badani as their head coach and hence there might be significant changes brought to the Capitals squad. Rightly, Indian World Cup winner, Munaf Patel might be considered for the role of bowling coach as a support staff in the Mumbai Indians camp.

The Weather was overcast for the whole day and the same is expected today. This post reads the Weather Forecast and Pitch report of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for IND vs NZ Day 3.

Day 1 was fully washed away by rain and the test match had just four days left. India won the toss and opted to bat first. Some experts say this wasn’t a good decision while other pundits are in favor of the call.

New Zealand were fully prepared for any decision and they welcomed the Indian call. Rohit and Jaiswal were troubled right from the first over and Rohit’s struggle ended in the 7th over when Southee bowled him out. India lost the first wicket in 9 runs and then lost another two for just one run.

Just under 31 overs, the complete Indian innings was wrapped up and India were bowled out for 46- their lowest total at home. New Zealand didn’t struggle much but India definitely missed a couple of chances.

New Zealand at the end of day 2 scored 180 for three wickets. India is having a good morning session so far and hopefully, they will recover the damage today. The rain did interrupt the play yesterday and similar conditions are predicted for today as well by weather.com, let’s take a look at the Weather Forecast and Pitch report of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for IND vs NZ Day 3.

It was an overcast yesterday in Bengaluru! We are having a good weather condition so far but there is rain predicted for the afternoon. Though the drainage system of M. Chinnaswamy is exceptionally good, there might be some stoppage in the play due to rain.

The temperature of the city is expected to hover around 27°C during the day. The rain probability is around 70% in the afternoon session and evening session, which reduces to below 22% during the last hour of the game.

IND vs NZ Day 3 Pitch Report of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

The pitch is a lot drier in comparison to what it was yesterday. Batting is slightly more easier against pacers but now, the spinners have come into the game. The ball is gripping and it is going to be a big challenge for India ahead.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Australia eliminated as South Africa stun them in the 1st semi-final

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Australia eliminated as South Africa stun them in the 1st semi-final: South Africa secured an easy victory in the 1st semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 versus Australia at the Cricket Stadium of Dubai on Thursday, 17th of October.

Winning the match by a margin of eight-wickets, the Proteas have eliminated the seven-time champions from the competition and have qualified for the final of the tournament.

Kicking off their run-chase of 135 runs, the Laura Wolvaardt-led outfit steered their way towards victory with 16 deliveries and eight wickets in hand.

Opening batter Tazmin Bates (15 runs in 15 balls) was the 1st Proteas batter to get dismissed by the Mighty Australians as her stumps were cleaned up by Annabel Sutherland in the fifth over.

Skipper Wolvaardt led the chase from-the-front as the 25-year-old played a good knock of 42 runs in 37 deliveries which consisted of one maximum and three fours. Despite playing a captain’s knock for South Africa, she too got dismissed in the 15th over but by the time she got out, the match had been sealed by the South Africans.

Interestingly, both of the Protean opening batters fell prey to the bowling brilliance of Annabel Sutherland (2-26).

However, experienced batter Anneke Bosch (74 runs in 48 balls) turned out to be the guiding light for the Laura Wolvaardt-led team as her crucial knock helped her side get over the line.

Earlier in the match, the Australians had posted a decent total of 134 runs on the board.

The Laura Wolvaardt-led outfit had won the toss and asked Alyssa Healy & Co to have a bat first but the the defending-champions got off to a really poor start as opener Grace Harris was sent back to the pavilion by Ayabonga Kha ka, providing an early advantage to the Proteas.

Experienced batter Beth Mooney, however, remained at the crease for a long time and tried to stitch partnerships with the likes of Tahlia McGrath (27 runs in 33 deliveries) and Georgia Wareham (5 runs in 9 deliveries). But, the 30-year-old wasn’t able to form a big partnership with either of the players.

The Gujarat Giants captain soon found some support from another experienced batter Ellyse Perry and the two brought some stability to the falling-apart Australian team.

They stitched a partnership of 31 runs in 28 deliveries for the 4th wicket but their stand didn’t last for a long time as Marizanme Kapp ran out Mooney (44 runs in 42 balls).

Following the dismissal of Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield joined Perry in the middle and the two battled their way till the end with Perry getting dismissed on the final delivery of the Australian inning as the seven-time winners posted a score of 134-5 on the board.

Talking about the bowling performance of the Proteas, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka and Mlaba picked up one-wicket each.

Champions Trophy 2025: ICC likely to shift the tournament out of Pakistan as India’s participation remains uncertain: Cricket’s governing-body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly considering changing the venues for next year’s mega event, Champions Trophy 2025 as doubts loom over team India’s participation in the marquee event of next year, which is set to be played in Pakistan.

The Government of India has not given any official confirmation to the Indian Cricket Team regarding travelling to Pakistan for the upcoming tournament.

The uncertainty regarding the participation of India seems to be more serious with Richard Thompson and Richard Gould, chairman and CEO of the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stating that a countless number of alternatives will be considered if the Men in Blue are not given the allowance to travel to Pakistan next year for the Champions Trophy, as reported by India-Today.

The Men in Blue and the Green Shirts last played a bilateral-series versus each other 11 years ago in 2013 when Pakistan came on a tour of India.

Ever since 2008, the two fierce-rivals have faced each other on neutral-venues with Pakistan travelling to India for the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2016 T20 International World Cup and most recently the 2023 ODI World Cup.

With the ever rising tensions between the two nations, India’s Cricket Governing-Body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a suggestion of hosting the Men in Blue’s Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai, UAE thereby asking for hybrid-model for the 2024 T20 World Cup winners.

Moreover, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering the possibility of exploring three hosting-options for next year’s marquee event, with one of them being letting all of the matches of the tournament take place in Pakistan, as planned.

Champions Trophy 2025: ICC is considering three alternative hosting options for the tournament if India don’t travel to Pakistan

According to some news-reports, the Cricket Governing-Body is considering organising the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy in a hybrid-model in which Dubai and Pakistan will act as the co-hosts. This model will let India play its matches in the UAE and the semi-finals and the all-important final might also take place in Dubai.

According to India-Today, the final option for the ICC would be to move the entire competition out of Pakistan and host it in either South Africa, Dubai or Sri Lanka.

Reports claim that despite the Pakistan’s Cricket Governing-Body, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) retaining the hosting-rights of the competition, the International Cricket Council is likely to opt for the hybrid-model option or they might end up changing the entire itinerary of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Delhi Capitals replace Sourav Ganguly as DOC while Hemang Badani steps in as their new head coach

The IPL franchise Delhi Capitals has been staying with the likes of Sourav Ganguly as their director of cricket while also having Ricky Ponting as their head coach. However, they have decided to part ways with both of these veterans for the upcoming season.

Former Indian players like Venugopal Rao have been appointed as the new Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals while Hemang Badani will be taking over the position of new head coach after Ponting parted ways with the franchise having stepped in as the head coach for 7 seasons.

Venugopal Rao replaces Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian great, from his role on the Delhi side. These decisions have been made by the DC owners to make an advancement in the coaching staff as well as structure, who have not been able to produce a title win in the IPL.

The franchise will also look to renew the contract of Pravin Amre, who will continue to serve as an assistant coach and talent scout back in 2014.

Now, the GMR and JSW groups will swap roles of ownership for either of their IPL and WPL teams every two seasons. Though Venugopal Rao is now the new Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Sourav Ganguly will continue in the role of Director of Cricket in the WPL for the next two seasons while he will return as the DOC of Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2027, when JSW Sports will be back in charge of the team.

The former Indian player who has had a long domestic career playing for Tamil Nadu, Hemang Badani has starred in four Tests and 40 matches for India in ODI cricket. They have been very successful in the domestic T20 circuit, as he was part of the Chennai Super Kings camp for the initial years in the IPL.

In a localized T20 franchise-level tournament in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, Badani coached the 3-times title winner of the TNPL, Chepauk Super Gillies. Badani has contributed largely to the development of players like R Sai Kishore, the IPL star and current Tamil Nadu captain.

Badani returned to the IPL in 2022, when he joined the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad as their fielding coach and scout in the IPL 2022. Hemang, though not known by many, has had immense experience in international overseas T20 leagues, as he stood as the assistant coach of Sunrisers Eastern Cape for SA20 2023, the inaugural season where they were crowned champions. Also, he coached the Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League.

Hemang Badani will assume duties under GMR groups, as he has previously head-coached the Dubai Capitals side in the ILT20, where the franchise finished as the runner-up. Also, the Seattle Orcas, the Major League Cricket team owned by the GMR group, is a franchise where Badani served as a coaching consultant.

While fans seemed excited by Virat Kohli’s entry at No. 3, a new role in the absence of Shubman Gill. However, even the likes of batters Kohli, Sarfaraz, KL Rahul, and Jadeja all went back to the pavilion for a duck.

A humiliating performance from the Indian side, as they were reduced to a trembling 31/7, with Rishabh Pant being their highest scorer with just 20 runs added by the wicketkeeper batter. India is all-out for 46 runs, with Matt Henry picking a 5-fer and Will O’Rourke also picking 4 wickets, thus reducing India to a below-50 score for the first time since 2020.

India, with this, has registered an unwanted record for themselves, as they become the only team among the full-member Test-playing nations of the ICC to have scored less than 50 runs for the second time in the history of the WTC.

India has had this disgusting record with a below-50 score against Australia in Adelaide back in 2020; this was India’s first humiliating total in the history of the WTC. Following this, they have now registered another below-50 score in the history of the World Test Championship. This is India’s lowest-ever Test score in India.

Danger looms over the Indian team, as they might not have the most desired start to their final home campaign as they near a humiliating loss.
