Australia prevented complete sweep as they won the final T20I by 12 runs.

The all-round show from the Australian helped them prevent a clean sweep against India in the final T20I at Sydney. Virat Kohli’s well-fought 85 runs could not prevent a 12 runs loss in the 3rd Twenty20 game against the hosts. With the win, Australia broke India’s 10 match winning streak.

India bagged the T20I series already in the second encounter 2-1. However, the loss in the third outing restricted India to get a 100% win record in the year 2020 in the shortest format of the game.

Earlier, India won the toss and opt to bowl without any change in the playing 11.

Australian Innings:

Australia played with their regular skipper in the 3rd T20I but he was sent to rest in the second over off Washington Sundar.

Matthew Wade looked in the same touch and picked from where he left in the previous game. Wade pushed his gears to make most of the power plays.

Steve Smith initially supported Wade but got out in the 10th over.

Matthew Wade completed his half-century very quickly. However, Maxwell from another end was smacking bowlers for some good reverse shots.

Maxwell also completes his half-century after some dropped chances from the Fielding side.

Wade in order to accelerate the innings, lost his wicket in the penultimate over off Shardul Thakur scoring 80 from 53. While Maxwell could not hit the ball in the last over and got bowled off T Natarajan.

With the supreme efforts from Matthew Wade (80 from 53) and Glenn Maxwell (54 from 36), Australia imposed 186-5 in 20 overs.

Returning with the figures 2/34 Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers while T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur picked one each.

India Innings:

India could not give a steady start to the chase, KL Rahul went for a duck in the second ball of the innings, trying to hit Maxwell to Long on.

Virat Kohli almost followed KL Rahul in the third over but was dropped by Steve Smith.

Kohli made most of the given opportunities as he was dropped by Andrew Tye off his own bowling.

The Indian Skipper was the lone warrior in the run chase, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson were sent in quick succession by Mitchell Swepson.

Hardik Pandya stepped in to support the skipper but went back to duck-out after getting 20 from 13. With the increasing pressure at the death overs, Kohli went off Andrew Tye but was caught at the backward point.

Danial Sams picked a good catch by diving forward departing skipper Kohli (85 off 61). Kohli hit 4 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings.

At the end of 2 overs, India were restricted to just 174-7. Australia prevented a complete sweep as they won the final T20I by 12 runs.

Mitchell Swepson was Australia’s bowling pick, picking 3 scalps for just 23 runs.

India and Australia will now begin preparing for the Test Series starting 17th December.

Pakistani Squad allowed to start training after getting released from Isolation

Pakistani Squad allowed to start training after getting released from Isolation.

After a compulsory managed isolation, the Pakistani Squad is allowed to start training after getting released from the isolation. New Zealand health ministry on Tuesday gave a green signal to the touring party to leave the managed isolation and start training for the three games T20Is and two test games.

After several rounds of Covid tests, the ministry finally on the 12th day of their 14-days isolation released them. They returned negative on the subsequent tests. Pakistani Squad will be moving to The South Island of Queenstown for their group training for the upcoming games against the Black Caps.

New Zealand health authorities revoked the exemption from training in the smaller group after the third day of managed isolation when players were seen mingling in the corridors and sharing food. The home side party punished the players for breaching the safety protocols in the country.

New Zealand Health Authority:

Along with the serious warning, New Zealand exempted Pakistani Players from training. Six members from the visiting side tested positive just after reaching the destination while two others returned positive after a few other rounds of tests. All the positive players were shifted to the quarantine wing of the hotel soon after the news was confirmed.

One Cricketer will remain in the isolation in Christchurch as he is not yet fully recovered from the virus,” New Zealand Health Ministry.

The other person will be released from the Auckland Quarantine facility today, he repeatedly tested negative for the virus after arriving here from Dubai. For the precautions, they were put in the isolations.”

Pakistan Head Coach, Misbah-ul-Haq:

Pakistan’s Head Coach, Misbah-ul-Haq showed his resentment for not allowing his boys to train.

A certain level of training and environment is definitely required by the top professional athletes to perform at least to the minimum level whenever they represent their country,” Misbah-ul-Haq.

Misbah also quoted that they all know the hardships and respect the decisions from the New Zealand ministry.

Our players have been affected both mentally and physically due to the implementations of the hard rules and regulations prior to the international series. I want to compliment my boys and management for their patience and sacrifice. All the hardships they have endured during the times is to ensure they not only lead the safe resumption of the international cricket during the COVID-19 pandemic but also give their best every time they step on the field.”

Pakistan and New Zealand are scheduled to play three Twenty20 games followed by 2 test encounters.

The tour will begin with T20Is on December 18, 20, and 22 while the Test will be played from December 26 onwards.

South Africa vs England ODI series cancelled due to Covid Threat. Three games ODI series was called off due to ranging threat. South Africa vs England ODI series cancelled due to Covid Threat.

England’s tour of South Africa for the ODI series got cancelled due to the Covid outbreak in the hotel in Cape Town after players tested positive for the virus. Both the parties have had members coming positive after the test.

On Monday, both the side confirmed the news to cancel the ODI series with mutual understanding. However, they added, to carry these games again in the near future if possible.

The opening game of the three games ODI series was scheduled for Friday which got postponed to Sunday after one unnamed member from the home team tested positive for the virus on the morning of the matchday.

The rescheduled game on Sunday was completely called-off after two members of the hotel staff tested positive where both teams were staying. Meanwhile, England players were taken for the new round of tests.

Two members of the visitors tested positive, ECB wanted to confirm the issue with the private medical team before taking any decision for the remaining games.

The head of both the parties was in constant touch to resolve the issue. They hoped to carry out the remaining two games but it doesn’t look possible after new positive cases.

Players safety is paramount, ECB CEO:

“ECB have always maintained that the welfare of our members and management is our first priority in any case,” England Cricket Board CEO Tom Harrison.

We were concerned about the potential impact that recent developments might have on the wellbeing of the touring party, and so after consultation with Cricket South Africa, we have jointly made the decision to postpone the remaining matches in this series in the best interest of the players’ welfare.”

We were worried about the impacts of the recent cases of the virus on the wellbeing of the visitors. After the long talks and consultation with Cricket South Africa (CSA), we have jointly come to the decision to cancel the remaining games of the ODI series in the best interest of the players of both sides.”

It will be an embarrassing development for the host nation as they failed to maintain the “bio-secure” environment in the luxurious hotel in Cape Town. Three members from South Africa contracted the virus in mid-November.

South Africa and England successfully carried out three games Twenty20 series before the unfortunate series of events. England whitewashed the South Africans in the T20I series.

New Format and Rules in IPL 2021 after the addition of two new teams

New Format and Rules in IPL 2021 after the addition of two new teams. The format of 2011 will come into force. New Format and Rules in IPL 2021 after the addition of two new teams.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is all set to introduce two new franchises to the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). A lot of speculations were made on how to carry out new things in such a short time. However, BCCI seems pretty convinced with the decision of adding new teams to the T20 extravaganza.

The final decision and approval will come after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is scheduled for 24th December. Ahmedabad is likely to get a ticket to feature in IPL for the first time.

This will not be the first time that 10 teams will compete for the title. BCCI introduced 10 teams to the pool back in 2011 while the next two seasons of IPL featured nine teams. BCCI is all set to repeat the 2011 history by approving two new teams to the pool.

The format will also be changed with the induction of the new teams, as per the reports. It is likely that BCCI will come up with something similar to the 2011 format which saved time.

The existing franchise owners seemed unhappy with the decision as the time for the next IPL is very little to carry out all the duties. The Auctions will become very hectic.

New Format of IPL 2021:

If BCCI goes with the regular format, the addition of two teams will lead the games to go up to 18 per team. However, the total number will go to 94 and the IPL window is too short to carry out these games peacefully.

Believing the reports of Times of India, BCCI will go with the new format. A total of 10 teams will be divided into two groups. Both groups will have an equal number of teams, i.e., 5 teams per side.

Each team will play twice (home and away game) with the other 4 teams of the same group, but each team will play only once with the 4 teams of the other group, while twice with the remaining team of the other group.

A random draw will be carried out to find out groups and select which team plays against the other once or twice. The format of the game looked complicated initially but it saved a lot of time for players and BCCI in 2011.

While the idea would be to continue the winning run against the Aussies and clean sweep them. However, Australians have been hit back by several injury concerns in the recent few days.

In absence of Finch, Mathew Wade performed decently with the captaincy while he was explosive with the bat.

Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury has been the most discussed topic among fans pundits in the last month. There were so many speculations revolving about his presence on the squad. But a major development in the discussion came up recently, Rohit Sharma posted a picture on his Instagram where he looked leaner than usual.

Rohit Sharma is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Banglore doing his rehab program. He was rested for the white ball series to get full fitness however, the chance in the red ball games is still under clouds. Rohit after his first assessment at NCA was declared unfit for the first two test games against Australia starting 17th December.

The next assessment on 11th December will decide whether the senior player will be part of the final two test games or not. BCCI would want him to be with the squad as Virat will be leaving Australia after the first game and Rohit Sharma in Virat’s absence could provide much-needed strength in the playing eleven.

His National Cricket Teammate, Ishant has been ruled out completely off the Australia tour due to side strain.

Rohit Sharma posted a picture on his Instagram where he looked in good shape. Sharma was seen much leaner and has shed some kilograms of weight in recent times.

Rohit’s hamstring has been doing well and to get into the squad for the rigorous test games, he needs to be in a good shape. That’s what he is focusing on now.

Rohit doesn’t want to take chances, BCCI official:

Until the head Physio doesn’t give a green signal, no one can undergo a high-intensity fitness test. But if he is doing his rehab for his lower body, at the same time he can work on his upper body’s conditioning and shed some kilograms of weight. A lighter upper body will ensure he does not put much pressure and effect on the lower dodgy hamstring,” a BCCI source to TOI.

Rohit this time doesn’t want to take a single chance. He is very conscious about his fitness levels. He has been in and out due to injuries in the last year. After which lockdown happened, he went on to perform his IPL duties. He has been on road for two years non-stop, which didn’t let him work on his fitness. However, this time he wants to regain perfect shape and want to be fully fit. To play non stop cricket next year, he doesn’t want to take any chances,” said BCCI officials.

The dashing opener, Rohit Sharma was seen performing his duties in the business end of the Indian T20 League, even though he was declared unfit for the Australian tour by BCCI.

Justin Langer heaped praises on Hardik Pandya, comparing him with MS.

The Australian head coach Justin Langer expressed his feelings on how much impressed he is with Hardik Pandya’s performance. Justin Langer heaped praises on Hardik Pandya and comparing him with MS Dhoni,(former Indian Captain). Pandya’s heroic took India to a six-wicket win against Australia in the second T20I.

Hardik Pandya smacked 22-ball 42 at the end of the innings of 2nd T20I to seal the game as well as the series. Shikhar Dhawan set the tone for the game with scintillating 36- balls 52 while Hardik Pandya took the charge to finish in the same tone.

Earlier we had MS now Pandya, said Langer:

In the virtual press conference, Australian Coach Justin Langer said, “It was an incredible game of Cricket all throughout. Everyone knows how threatening he (Pandya) is. In the past, we had Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the way he kept the innings today… He has played really well all summer. So, obviously, it was a great innings at the end there.”

Justin Langer said, India used their experience to get the victory and they were too good the whole game.

It was a very close game. Our (Australian) fielding was absolutely magnificent, it was a treat to watch, but they (India) used their experience in the T20I game and were too good for us today.”

Langer also praised Virat Kohli’s innings and said he is one of the best players in the game.

I have said for years he (Virat Kohli) is the best player I have probably ever seen. Some of the shorts he played today were outstanding and India stitched a good opening stand and got over the line quickly,” said Australia Coach.

Australian Coach was also highly impressed with Mathew Wade’s led side. He said they have got enough runs on boards to defend but India outplayed us.

I am really proud of my boys. It was a great spectacle, India vs Australia on Sunday. It was so close, it was exciting at the same time. We (Australia) batted really well, we had a good total to defend. India outplayed us and batted really well.

IPL 2021: A lot of discussion on the issue relating to the inclusion of a new franchise is going around. With almost everyone giving their opinions. However, this has not been clear, which city will get a franchise in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

As the time for the Indian T20 league 2021 is very less, BCCI has to take the necessary steps to include the new franchise. According to the reports on various news outlets and official sources, BCCI is likely to go for Ahmedabad as the primary choice for the franchise.

The final decision on the inclusion of a new franchise in IPL 2021 will be at the Annual General Meeting. The AGM is scheduled for 24th December and that will decide whether the team will get inducted this year or next year.

Regardless of the decision of the meeting, Sourav Ganguly is keen on appointing the newly built Motera Stadium as Ahemdabad’s home ground. Kanpur, Lucknow, and Pune are the second priority to get the franchise.

Adani and RPS Goenka in Fray to own franchise:

Soon after the announcement of the new franchise’s addition, some major parties came forward to own the team. The most prominent names on the list are The Adani Group and RPS Goenka Group.

RPS has a connection with IPL previously, as they owned Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 and 2017. Both the parties are very much favorites to give the ownership of the ninth and tenth teams respectively.

Existing Franchise not happy:

The existing franchise will not be happy with the decision as this will create a lot of hassle for the teams. Some of the franchise owners showed their disappointment while some welcomed the decision of inclusion.

  • As the time to the upcoming IPL is too less, BCCI will have to conduct the Auctions and franchise owners are not happy with it.
  • The addition of two new teams will lead the IPL window to go up for 94 games. This could be a huge workload for the players as well as the management.
  • Also, the window for the conduction of IPL is too small to carry out all the games.
  • After the addition of two new franchises, it will dilute the revenue earned by the winning side.

While, KXIP owner welcomed the decision and said, as long as it does not hurt the existing franchise, we will happily accept the commitment.
