As per the South Australia government, the lockdown set to be lifted on Saturday in the Southern part of Australia. The first test between the two cricketing giants is expected to go with the schedule. Adelaide to host the first iconic test between India-Australia from 17 December.
“Next month’s D/N test between India and Australia had looked in danger as the COVID cluster hit South Australia last week. The state’s chief public health officer stating this week, there is no guarantee they could host the match.”
In response to the COVID cluster in south Australia, Melbourne or Sydney could step up in the tough times to host the match without any dely.
“But Saturday’s news of neutralizing the lockdown from midnight Saturday will ensure that the fixture on December 17 is still alive.”
No COVID cases were recorded on Thursday, while the state recorded three new cases on Friday as per the state government data. The Government of South Australia has decided to lift the restrictions early.

Although the tough times has hit everyone hard but it seems fans are quite excited to witness the game live here in Australia. Ever since Cricket Australia decided to interact with the fans, the tickets were sold in record time. Almost all seats are full as per the rules of half number of seats will be available for the matches to ensure the safety of fans and players at the same time.
Adelaide will allow 27,000 fans in a single day. Melbourne will accommodate 25,000 fans per day. Sydney Cricket Ground will host 50% of its seating capacity while Gaba will host the most number of fans in a day for the India-Australia series.

Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) implemented new rules for the determination of finalists of ICC World Test Champianship. The new rules slipped Team India to the second position while Australia climbs up to claim the top position.
Now the ranking will be determined on the basis of the percentage of matches won by a team. Australia has a winning percentage of 82.2% while India has a 75.00% winning ratio.

The series against Australia will carry huge importance as it can lift India to the top spot. India will definitely look to win the series, repeating the history of 2018-19 test series. However, it will not be easy as Virat Kohli will return to India after the first test series, and also Australia now has its key players Steve Smith and David Warner into the squad after the ban.
