Quinton De Kock – the other opening batsman who has a great record against Indian bowlers and a successful combination with Rohit Sharma.

Surya Kumar Yadav  – has established himself as a strong front line batsman, Man of the Match in IPL 2019 final.

Ishan Kishan – another Indian batsman who has established himself as a vital player for MI.

Keiron Pollard – After 10 years he is still the best all-rounder who always manages to find his form. For MI he is a finisher and a brilliant fielder. What with  a splendid performance in the Caribbean League recently.

Hardik Pandya – the most talented Indian all-rounder, a vital player for MI, only thought being – he is coming back from a spine operation.

There is a difficulty predicting this team’s wins. On paper they have talent. But is this team strong enough to beat teams like SRH, RCB or DC is the question. Unless KXIP puts up big totals on the board, unless their bowlers keep themselves fit and bowl precisely throughout, this team may not reach the playoffs. Wonder what the readers think, but we see them in the lower half of the points raking table. If they go on a winning streak, that would definitely be a surprise. But the odds of that happening is bleak!

K.L.Rahul – Captain and outstanding batsman of the team.

Sarfaraz khan – An aggressive batsman, he has not lived up to his reputation in the last 2 IPL seasons.

Nicolas Pooran – a very talented batsman and next to Gayle and Rahul he is the key batsman of the team.

Maxwell – has regained form and is the man of the series with a brilliant century in the decisive final mach, Australia vs England that concluded yesterday.

James Neesham  – The batsman who nearly got the world cup 2019 for NZ. He is a very good all-rounder.

Sheldon Cottrell – he is also a very useful all-rounder of international repute.

Krishna Gowtham -The Indian all -rounder who has proved his talent in the 2019 IPL.

Chris Jordan – the only bowling specialist from overseas.

  • Looking at the playing XI, when you put aside the 4 overseas players, KKR seems to miss the sparkle
  • What about replacements and back up in case of an injury to the top players like Russell and Cummins??? None.

Sunil Narine – He has been experimented as a pitch hitter in the opener position. He has an ingenious way to connect the ball and hit the best bowlers. But he has the tendency to succeed occasionally. Hence a risky player who is not consistent.

Andre Russell – Synonymous to power and might, he is the ‘X’ factor of KKR. He could be sent up the middle order so that he will face more balls.

Tom Banton – A brilliant wicketkeeper batsman. But, he cannot replace the captain D.Karthik.

Chris Green – A talented but not so reputed – all-rounder.

Pat Cummins – The best bowler for KKR and costliest player in this IPL.

Having made to the playoffs last year, DC will not settle for anything less this year. Delhi Capitals is looking for a new font that could write “S-U-C-C-E-S-S” on the walls. With Saurav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting on board the coach cabin last year, DC is sure to gather it’s guns to create some fireworks this year too.

The auctions resulted in the inclusion of strong players like : Jason Roy, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey, Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Woakes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane. A decent move I say.   • Moreover, no replacement of equally good players (all-rounders) made till date.
  • No quality back-ups in case of injured bowlers.
  • Without a big score on the board, it is difficult for DC to assure wins

This team appears to be well balanced and will give stiff competition to RCB and SRH for the 3rd and 4rth spot in the points raking table. Out of these 3 teams, the one who slips in quality will drop out of the top 4 going into the playoffs.

DC could win their first match against KXIP on 20 September 2020.

Key Players Analysis:

Shreyas Iyer – An outstanding batsman with awesome control over his shots. He will be in the limelight after V.Kohli, Rohit Sharma and K.L.Rahul among the Indian batsmen. As a captain he is cool and is gradually learning the art of captaincy.

Shikar Dhawan – He has already proved himself as the opening batsman for India, now he is back in form in IPL.

Prithvi Shaw – Enormously talented but he has not yet proved his consistency as a successful opening batsman. Now is the chance to do it, as he will be playing most of the matches.

Ajinkya Rahane – He is being seen as a surprise selection as he is not comfortable in T20 matches. This is his opportunity to prove the critics wrong.

Hetymer – He has a key role to play in the middle order. He has been successful in that position against India in the past.

Rishab Pant – He is the batsman who can boost the score with his aggressive batting.

Alex Carey is a worthy replacement to Pant as a wicketkeeper batsman, but he may get only a few chances as Pant’s position is confirmed.

David Miller – A very good lower order batsman who can be a finisher. But in the recent times he has not been consistent and has not lived up to his reputation.

Tom Curren, Andrew Tye and Oshan Thomas are a good set of medium fast bowlers. The Indian pacers who will play in the11 are V.Aaron and Unadkat. They all have to be on target from ball one. If not, the batsmen are waiting to smack them.

Sanju Samson – A hard hitting stroke player and a not so bad wicketkeeper. He’s for keeps  -he will play most of the matches.

Shreyas Gopal – He has shined as an all-rounder but has not yet established himself as a great talent.
