Nasser Hussain, former English skipper, and batsman heaped praise on KL Rahul’s dominant performance in the recently concluded Indian T20 Tournament. Hussain while picking his best 11 of Dream11 IPL 2020 during the Sky Sports show “The IPL Cricket Show” said: KL Rahul is one of the best white-ball cricketers in recent times. He is the inspiration for the youngsters who want to make an impact.

“I think he (Rahul) is one of the best white-ball players going at the moment. He is a good lesson for any young boy or girl about how to stroke a cricket ball and not over-hit it. Rahul strokes it beautifully,” Hussain said during the show.

Picking his best 11 from Indian T20 League Hussain named most of the players from the champions side.

KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan:

Former English batsman names KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as his first-choice openers. KL Rahul who won the Orange Cap for scoring most runs in the tournament is the first choice for any expert.

However, Rashid Khan is the lone spinner in Nasir Hussain’s IPL team. Rashid was handy for SRH to pick crucial wickets in the middle. He was the highest wicket-taker for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

New Rules in Big Bash League, X-Factor, Power Surge and Bash Boost

0

New Rules in Big Bash League, X-Factor, Power Surge and Bash Boost. BBL added a new set of rules ahead of the 10 edition. New Rules in Big Bash League, X-Factor, Power Surge and Bash Boost.

Power Surge, Bash Boost and X-Factor Player are three new rules unveiled by the Big Bash League. To make the sports more interesting and to drive spectators’ interest in the game is the main reason for the changes.

Power Surge:

The power Surge will be two over period and the fielding side is allowed two fielders outside the inner circle. Power Surge can be taken any time after the 10th over in the inning by the batting team. However, the powerplay has been reduced to just 4 overs.

X-Factor Player:

The X-Factor player is the 12th or 13th player in the squad, can come into the game after the 10th over of the first innings. The X-Factor player can only replace the player who is yet to bat or has not bowled more than one over.

Bash Boost:

Another rule to make the Big Bash League more interesting and competitive is Bash Boost. The Bash Boost will be a bonus point given to the teams midway through the second innings. The chasing team will be awarded the bonus point “ if they’re above the equivalent 10-over score of their opposition”. However, if the chasing team will be behind the 10 over mark, then the fielding team will be awarded the bonus points. Now teams can acquire 3 points through a match which was earlier two.

Trent Woodhill on New Rules in Big Bash League:

“We need innovation because people like change, but I think these (changes) will actually improve the game itself,” Trent Woodhill, player acquisition and cricket consultant for the BBL, told cricket.com.au.

“I come from things from a high-performance perspective, rather than just a gimmick, so I like that these changes pass the high-performance test around strategy and elite performance.

“It’s going to put pressure on leaders and coaches. Having been involved in over 300 T20 matches in the women’s and men’s games, T20s have a pattern, and this will blow that pattern up.

“It’ll make players have to think on their feet a little bit, and … it’s forcing you on game day to have a narrative that both fans and broadcasters alike will have to delve into and ask questions of the decisions being made, or not made.”

“Last year the Stars got 220-odd against the Sixers, and the chances of the Sixers chasing that down were slim,” he explained. “They made a good fist of it and got 180-odd, but even though they only lost by 30 runs they were out of the game a long way before the 20th over.

“So it’s interesting, they play off against each other: the X-factor sub might mean that some teams think they’ll bat first, but then the Bash Boost point might tempt them to bat second and try to chase down that 10-over total.

“So they’re all around that segmenting of matches to keep people invested across the whole 40 overs – not just in Powerplays or death overs.”

“We see in AFL at three-quarter time where the coach has to go out and give a speech to his team, there’ll be conversations about that, broadcasters will speculate about what was potentially said, and in this way coaches will have more to do in the spotlight, and there’ll be a greater spotlight on captains and their calls.

“My big thing with T20 is we’ve got to continually analyse and push the game. There is a lot of analytics in sport and a lot of discussion around it, and I think this will continue to add to the colour and the fun of BBL, but now you’ll have a deeper insight into why somebody has made the decision they have.”

The South African wicketkeeper Batsman, AB de Villiers never fails to impress the viewers. Mr. 360 will keep the wickets for Harsha’s favorite XI. AB in Dream11 IPL 2020 hammered 454 runs in 14 appearances.

Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard as the finishers:

Bhogle then picked the two giant names who destroyed the opponent’s bowling lineup for fun. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard of Mumbai Indians are no doubt emerged as the best finishers. Kieron Pollard scored crucial runs for MI lately with the daunting strike rate of 191 while his counterpart is no less. Hardik playing with a 178 strike rate to finish things well.

Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah to lead the bowing attack:

Harsha picking his bowling lineup, start with the name of Jofra Archer. The world cup winner, English bowler has been phenomenal with the ball. He was the only lone warrior for his team with the bowl. He provided much-needed breakthroughs to RR. Archer in 14 games picked 20 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah follows the English pacer along with Mohd. Shami. Jasprit Bumrah ended as the second-highest wicket-taker with 27 scalps under his belt. However, Shami is the leading wicket-taker for KXIP.

The veteran then picked Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan to his spin options. Both the spinners were exceptional in their respective teams. Yuzvendra Chahal bagged 21 wickets while Rashid Khan dismissed 20.

Interestingly, Harsha Bhogle leaves purple cap winner Kagiso Rabada out of his team despite such valiant effort from the South African Pacer.

KL Rahul (KXIP), Shikhar Dhawan (DC), Surya Kumar Yadav (MI), AB de Villiers (RCB), Kieron Pollard (MI), Hardik Pandya (MI), Jofra Archer (RR), Rashid Khan (SRH), Jasprit Bumrah (MI), Mohd. Shami (KXIP), Yuzvendra Chahal (RCB).

Adani and RPSG Group interested in the new IPL 2021 Team. The two giants businesses are keen on a new IPL franchise. Adani and RPSG Group interested in the new IPL 2021 Team.

With the end of the Indian Premier League last week. Mumbai Indians emerging title winners for the fifth time, the talks of a new team to be added in the cash-rich tournament have gained momentum. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is interested in expanding the IPL basket, which is of 8 teams.

Reports suggests, BCCI is keen on adding the new team to Indian T20 Tournament. BCCI is likely to release the tender for the new IPL team post-Diwali week. But as of now, everything is still and no further improvements are not informed by the board.

As per reports, the teams are likely to be based in Ahemdabad city and other in Lucknow or Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. However, the decision is yet not disclosed by the respective committee.

The Adani and RPSG Group Interested to own:

As per the report of Bangalore Mirror, the Adani Group in Ahemdabad and RPSG Group are interested in owning a franchise in the Indian Premier League. The report also, says that the existing franchises have been informed about the decision to the expansion of IPL. However, the board is still silent on the possibility.

The existing franchises do not look happy with the decision of expansion. The teams want BCCI to finalize the venue for the upcoming IPL. BCCI had already informed that they want to conduct IPL 2021 in India if the COVID conditions are safe and the vaccine is in place. However, the UAE is set as a backup option for BCCI.

If the new franchise comes in, Mega Auctions can’t be ignored. The existing franchises seem worried, with roughly four months left for the IPL 2021 and in such a short span, IPL Auctions cant be conducted.

The franchises highlighted one more issue regarding the total matches if one or two teams are added. IPL has 60 matches as per 8 teams but this figure will go up to 76 if one team will be added and 90 if two teams are added. The IPL window is too short to conduct all these at that specific time.

After a lot of criticism from the existing franchises for the BCCI’s decision for the expansion of the Indian Premier League in 2021, the former Indian Wicket-keeper batsman backed BCCI’s decision for the additional teams.

After the delayed season of IPL2020, the BCCI gears up for the upcoming season of IPL. BCCI faced a heavy loss as VIVO pulled back from the sponsorship, however, in a short span Dream11 emerged as the new title sponsor for IPL 2020. The BCCI was paid just 222 crores by Dream11 to win the race, while VIVO used to pay 440 crores for the sponsorship. Many experts thought that the addition of a new franchise is a new financial step by BCCI to cope up with the loss.

Rahul Dravid on IPL Expansion:

However, the head of India’s National Cricket Academy, Rahul Dravid thinks that this is the right time to add a new IPL franchise to the basket. The addition of a new team in IPL will give more opportunities to the young guys who are exemplary talents. He says, there are many youngsters who are still not getting chances to showcase their talent in Indian T20 League.

I feel IPL is ready for expansion in terms of talent if you look from a talent perspective. There are a lot of talented players who are not getting an opportunity to play,” Dravid.

It’s been fantastic to see so many of those young Under-19 boys come on and establish themselves, not only for their state teams but also in the IPL. But many more are actually not getting opportunities,” Dravid added.

They are sitting outside in a lot of these teams because the quality of the cricket is so good and there are so many good and experienced players,” Dravid said during the virtual launch of Manoj Badale and Simon Hughes’s.

Dravid on Mumbai Indian’s success:

Mumbai Indians win their 5th title in IPL 2020 and the first consecutive title. MI is one of the most successful franchises in world sports. Dravid backed Mumbai Indians saying, Mumbai has a strong scouting structure. They have been successful in scouting some amazing young talents who later on represented India on the highest levels. Also, Mumbai retained some of the powerful core in their side and combine them with the Indian young talents. That’s what makes them successful.

Mumbai Indians were able to spot Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya at a young age, they’ve brought in Rahul Chahar and backed Ishan Kishan, and while you would not exactly call Suryakumar Yadav a young player because he’s been around for a while, a large part of their success is down to a very good scouting structure,” Rahul Dravid.

Tender for New Franchise:

With the wrap of Dream11 IPL2020, Mumbai Indians emerged as the winner of the cash-rich tournament defeating Delhi Capitals to win their fifth title. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is all set for the upcoming IPL 2021. The BCCI has already started planning for the upcoming cash-rich tournament as roughly four months are available before the T20 League.

As the delayed tournament got over, BCCI needs to take two major decisions regarding Mega Auctions and an additional new Franchise. BCCI is likely to add one more team to the basket of 8 teams in the Indian Premier League. The BCCI will release the tender for the new franchise post-Diwali week.

According to TOI, BCCI is planning to introduce the additional 9th team to the IPL in 2021 before introducing another in the 2022 season. As per the reports, BCCI will be releasing the final decision within 72 hours and tender will be released thereafter.

Interested Parties in New Franchise:

Some of the big Business Giant are eyeing to own an IPL team. The Adani Group, the Tata Group, RPG-Sanjiv Goenka Group, and Leading banker Uday Kotak have shown interest. The movie Superstar Salman Khan and Malayalam Star Mohanlal are also keen on joining the IPL as owners. One thing that is confirmed as of now is new franchise will be based in Ahmedabad surely.

Reaction of Existing Franchise:

However, the existing Franchise looks disappointed with the decision of expansion. Reportedly, they have not been informed officially by the board.

  • The franchise says the addition of a new franchise in Indian Premier League 2021 will dilute the pool prize which is unlikely to change until the 2023 edition of IPL.
  • If a new team gets added to the IPL, the matches from 60 will go up to 76 while the addition of two teams will result in 90 matches. This will be a major concern as the IPL window is too short to adjust these.
  • The time for the next IPL is roughly four months from now,  it will be difficult to conduct the Mega Auctions in such a short time span.
  • Also, some of the teams have strong and stable core formed. It will be hard to scout the talent and participate in the Mega Auctions.

IPL 2021 New Teams (Franchise) and Changes, all you need to know

IPL 2021 New Teams (Franchise) and Changes, all you need to know. The BCCI is keen on expanding the IPL. IPL 2021 New Teams (Franchise) and Changes, all you need to know.

IPL 2021 New Teams (Franchise) Addition:

Dream11 IPL 2020 got his titleholder on Tuesday, 10th November 2020. Mumbai Indians emerged as the winner of the Dream11 IPL 2020 defeating Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. With the wrap of the delayed season of the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is keen on conducting the 2021 edition of IPL soon.

The BCCI has already started preparing for the IPL 2021, which is to be held in late March or early April. However, BCCI is keen on adding the new franchises to the existing 8 IPL teams. It is still not clear whether one franchise will be added or two. The decision is yet to be taken.

However, if the Indian Premier League gets expanded from 8 franchises to 9 or 10 in IPL 2021, BCCI cannot avoid the mega auctions. The time for the next IPL is too short as just four months are available. The existing franchises do not look happy with the decision of expansion.

Existing Franchise Response to IPL Expansion:

Existing franchise owners said IPL 2021 is not far from here, just four months are left and in this short time getting quality players into the core is not possible if Auctions are conducted.

Teams are already finding it difficult to ensure quality. If we look at most IPL squads, around seven to nine players form the core while two to three players per squad are rotated to find the right balance. Now, if eight franchises are increased to 10, that quality further gets diluted. IPL’s core – the very essence of having a salary purse every year – is to ensure the overall quality of all eight franchises remains somewhere at the same level, regardless of an individual franchise’s spending capacity. If two extra teams draw from the same pool of cricketers at the auction, can the quality be guaranteed,” existing franchises asked as per the Times of India.

Changes in IPL 2021:

BCCI is likely to upgrade the next season of IPL with one or two more teams. The BCCI officials also looking forward to increase the limits of foreign players from 4 to 5 this time. “There are quality overseas players who are warming the bench every season because of the restriction. An added overseas player will balance out that need,” the official is said to have suggested.

A lot of big names are showing interest in owning the IPL team. If reports are to be believed, the Adani Group, Malayalam Star Mohanlal, and the Tatas are attracted to the IPL. Media entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan have also shown interest.
