DREAM11 IPL 2021: Know the Greats of IPL: David Warner

0

Coz, there are some who begin,….. and then continue.

David Andrew Warner (born 27 October 1986) is an Australian born in Paddington, Sydney. One of the most successful cricketers in the IPL (Indian Premier League) and one of the most dangerous captains to look forward to in the DREAM11 IPL 2020.

His Records till date – despite missing an entire season in 2018

  • Highest number of runs for an overseas player in IPL – 4,099
  • Highest number of 50s in IPL – 44
  • Highest 50 + scores in IPL – 48
  • Player who has received the Orange Cap Most number of times – 3
  • Highest individual score of a player as a captain – 126

His saga is never ending. Right from the word go, this man’s batting graph has been like a step ladder. His powerful, authentic cricketing shots, avoiding the risky ones, his comfort with pace and spin, playing the reverse sweep with authority – a man difficult to keep quiet! They say “If his bat isn’t doing the talking, then his mouth probably is. And either way – it’s fireworks!”

Sit back (for there is a lot), and sail through his glory.

IPL 2009 – A half century in the first season playing 7 matches for Delhi Daredevils, David Warner put a decent start to his innings. Little did anyone guess he would turn into the behemoth of batsmen.

IPL 2010 – A decade ago from today, the world saw David Warner score yet another 50, adorning his maiden IPL century (DD vs KKR). He was beginning to reveal to all the remarkable players that he was.

IPL 2011 – Scoring more runs than before, with three half centuries in the IPL, Warner became the first cricketer to score consecutive Twenty20 hundred (Champions League Twenty20), representing the New South Wales team (135 not out against CSK & 123 not out against RCB)

IPL 2012 – A quiet year for David Warner but his famous ton against the Deccan
Chargers, which fetched him the Man of the Match award, kept his team on the top of the ranking table till the qualifiers.

Watch him smash it!

https://www.iplt20.com/video/30863

IPL 2013 – With four half centuries and more runs than ever, this powerhouse was on the move.

IPL 2014 – Warner entered the Sunrisers pack and found his place in the IPL. Appearing at No.3 and No.4 in the batting order, Warner amassed 528 runs with six 50s. This paved the way for him to become a top order batsman, which has been significant in SRH’s future wins.

Watch the Man at work!

IPL 2015 – Consistently increasing runs every season was making David Warner – The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, a spectacle to watch. 562 runs, seven 50s and Orange Cap winner of IPL2015, he was already in the league of titans!

Watch him rock n roll!

IPL 2016 – The year SRH won the championship under the captaincy of David Warner! “Lieutenant of the Orange Army “ read a headline. The year 2016 saw this titanic player with his herculean 848 runs (including 9 half centuries) reaching the top of all batting records.

IPL 2017 – Warner scored 126 runs against KKR to surpass his previous highest score of 109 not out. It was his third century of IPL. He was also the Orange Cap winner once again.

Look at him switch his stance to reach his 50 in style

IPL 2018 – A dark year in Australian cricketing history, Warner was banned from playing any form of cricket due to a ball tampering case on him. Kane Williamson took on the reins in his absence.

IPL 2019 – Year of the phoenix! And how he rose from his ashes! In the first match itself, David Warner scored 85 runs off 53 balls against KKR. A couple of days later, he scored 100 (not out) runs off 55 balls against RCB, which was also his fourth IPL century. He ended the season on a winner’s note: as the Orange Cap winner for the third time in IPL.

DREAM11 IPL 2020 – David Warner is reinstated as captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. We just can’t wait to see what’s in store!

On a lighter note……

The talented Warner: He is a writer as well. Based on the nickname he earned as a kid, he is the proud author of the book series named ‘The Kaboom Kid- The big switch’.

The Kaboom Kid- The big switch
The Kaboom Kid- The big switch

The adorable and lively Warner: Warner is famous for his adorable Tik-Tok videos with his family on the internet. Sometimes dancing to an Indian tune to frolicking around with his girls (wife and daughters)… he will leave you enamoured. Take a look at this one.

The changed Warner: A brash player famous for his acid replies and frequent brawls with other players almost got him a “perennial offender” tag. But he mended his ways and how! He ended up being called Mr Reverend (someone worthy of utmost respect) by his coach. What a mountain of the difference!

Cheers for now!

DREAM11 IPL 2020: Predictions Of The First 5 Matches : Team Analysis In The Absence Of Overseas Players

0

DREAM11 IPL 2020 is commencing with a host of unexpected happenings. Covid-19 has sure set its own rules for this tournament! Players leaving due to their health problems, players exiting due to personal reasons, players missing matches due to a clash of series – Heck! It’s time for the substitutes to grab this space and make the most of it. The possibility of players from England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanisthan and West Indies was looming over our heads, threatening to make it an all-in-all “Indian” Premier League. Well, this list has now come down to just The English and the Australian players, much to everyone’s relief.

Any player returning to the DREAM11 IPL 2020 will have to follow :

BCCI’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  • Upon arrival, the players will be tested on day 1, 3 and 6
  •  if the results are negative, they can enter the tournament’s bio-bubble.
  • Suspected or positive cases will immediately be isolated from the team and the case will be managed by team doctor in accordance with IPL medical team. Contract tracing will begin immediately.”

Let’s have a look at all the teams that have faced the exit of their star players and who is going to fill in their shoes.

Players who have left due to health problems : Deepak Chahar (CSK), Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)???

Players who exited the DREAM11 IPL 2020 due to personal reasons : Lasith Malinga (MI), Harbhajan Singh (CSK), Suresh Raina (CSK) (might return), Jason Roy (DC), Kane Richardson (RCB)

Players caught up in other matches, hence missing the first set of matches in the DREAM11 IPL 2020 : All Australian and England players

The first 5 matches of DREAM11 IPL 2020 are crucial as it will set the pace of the tournament keeping in mind all the conditions affecting the teams. A different venue, a new feel in the stadium with no crowds like before, absence of a few important players, everything. Now let’s round up the teams according to the schedule given by the BCCI:

Match 1 : MI vs CSK READ | MI Vs CSK Dream11 Team Prediction IPL 2020 Match 1

MI : Lasith Malinga

MI is least affected. Nathan Coulter-Nile who is not in the Australian team for the series will be available to MI. But losing Malinga – the winning face of IPL2019, is a set back. Yet, MI seems all capable to continue the winning streak.

CSK : Josh Hazelwood, Sam Curren, Shane Watson

Chennai Super Kings seem brazen by any aspect right now. They are going to cruise through despite the absence of the bigwigs. They have sterling Indian players to do the job. And if Suresh Raina returns, what’s more to say?!

Match 2 : DC vs KXIP

DC : Chris Woakes, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Roy, Alex Carey.

Delhi Capitals is moderately affected by this and they will have to pull up their socks in the absence of these strong players. Chris Woakes pulling out from the IPL tournament is a big blow to his fans though! But DC has a very well planned team. Their XI sans overseas players looks pretty strong. Have a look –

Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Mohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma

KXIP : Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan

KXIP’s bowling department should be more concerned rather than fussing over Glenn Maxwell. Though he is the run getter, among the bowlers, Shami is the only experienced one. Youngsters Ravi Bishnoi and Ishan Porel might have a bigger role to play here.

Match 3 : SRH vs RCB

SRH : David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Mitchell Marsh

OW! Did they just lose their backbone of the batting department there! The experienced Manish Pandey and Vijay Shanker will have to show the youngsters around ( Priyam Garg, Virat Singh and Abhishek Sharma)

RCB : Kane Richardson, Moeen Ali, Aaron Finch, Jos Phillipe

Virat Kohli and the all rounders (Washington Sunder, Shivam Dube and Pawan Negi) will have to do a good job, the damage can be minimum as their bowlers Chahal, Saini and Umesh Yadav are there to do the job.

Match 4 : RR vs CSK

RR : Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Jos Butler, Ben Stokes, Andrew Tye, Tom Curran

Looks like that spells ‘m-i-s-e-r-y’ for the Rajasthan Royals. The principle team members of RR are going to be absent for the initial matches. They have Sanju Samson, Shreyas Gopal, the new purchase Robin Uthappa, Mahipal Lomror and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Who will be the captain? Well Robin Uthappa seems to be the senior most here. RR is taking this whole scenario positively – what better warm up practice for their overseas players than playing the best of England and Australia they say!

Match 5 : KKR vs MI

KKR : Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton

A big blow to KKR! This year’s most expensive player Pat Cummins unavailable for the initial matches is a pity. As for Tom Banton, as of now he does not feature in the XI. He might be included after his return. Options for KKR? Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana and Siddhesh Lad. Time to call the shots lads!

Prediction : Probable Match Results

Match 1 – CSK and MI have equal chances of winning, MI is in a better state of mind.

Match 2 – DC has more chances of winning

Match 3 – SRH and RCB are on par, RCB might win

Match 4 – CSK has a high chance of winning

Match 5 – MI has a high chance of winning

More detailed discussions to come just before the matches! Don’t miss it!

DREAM11 IPL 2020 : ROHIT SHARMA Know Your Favourite Player The HITMAN

0
ROHIT SHARMA
ROHIT SHARMA

Rohit Gurunath Sharma (born on 30 April 1987 in Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra) is fondly called ‘Ro-Hit’ due to his prodigious ability with the bat. He has earned himself the tag of a  “HITMAN” because of his propensity to hit sixes with a strange combination of elegance and power! He does so in all formats of the game. With the capability of scoring runs all around the park, Rohit Sharma’s meticulous planning through the match is evident in how he starts his game slowly and picks up momentum gradually.

  • He is the only cricketer in the world to hit most sixes in a single match in all 3 formats.
  • He is the second Indian to score a century in all three formats of the game.

Virat Kohli – “I enjoy being on the non-striker’s end and watch Rohit Sharma bat” says one great of another.

Let’s have a look at him cruising through the seasons to reach the DREAM11 IPL 2020 :

As a captain…

  • He is the first skipper to lead his team to the IPL title thrice.Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians have won three titles (2013, 2015, 2017) in IPL.
  • He is one of the most successful captains as he has evolved under pressure and with each demanding situation, his confidence has doubled.
  • His promptness with the bowling changes has been instrumental in these wins. Rohit giving Lasith Malinga (though a little expensive in that match) the final over in IPL 2019 proves the case.

  • His calm demeanor with the bigger picture always in the mind, Rohit Sharma’s ability to guide his flock has been evident in matches.

https://www.iplt20.com/video/105273

As a player….

  • Rohit Sharma is among those four cricketers who have won the IPL with two different teams (Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians).
  • The third highest run-scorer of IPL, the manager of Khaitan fans is heard to have said about Rohit Sharma – “We are trying to secure him for our next advertisement because he swings the bat so fast!”
  • He also has a bowling hat-trick to his name, which did take him by surpise! In the IPL 2009, Rohit Sharma was then a part of Deccan Chargers. Watch him take on the Mumbai Indians.

On the lighter side….

  • Rohit Sharma, a wonderful man, coz he keeps wondering where he kept his things! He once misplaced his passport before going for a match in Europe. How did the authorities manage that, is a different story.
  • A strange record we came across the internet : Rohit Sharma is the only player to win the IPL as a bachelor, husband and father!
  • Rohit Sharma is fluent in four languages- English, Hindi, Marathi and Telugu ( his mother being from Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh)
  • It has been revealed that among the entire team members, Rohit is the one who loves tosleep a lot. Well did he just doze off in the dugout there in the IPL 2017 final match! The crowd’s uproar on a dismissal woke him up.

To sum it up in Brett Lee’s words – “If you can’t get the wicket of Rohit Sharma, you are struggling in life”.

See you soon.

DREAM11 IPL 2020 : Shane Watson Know Your Favourite Player

0

A brilliant allrounder for Australia and the IPL teams, Shane Robert Watson, fondly called “Watto” by his teammates, was born on 17th June, 1981 in the town of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.

At the age of 19, he was already prolific with the bat. That’s when Watson tried out bowling

– “I love being an all-rounder. It keeps you involved with the game. If you miss out on scoring runs, you can come back and make it up with your bowling.” He was quoted saying. He debuted at the age of 21 in a one-day international game and by the age of 34 he has retired as the world’s No.1 allrounder!!!

Let’s round up his journey that led him to the DREAM11 IPL 2020

  • IPL 2008 – Watson is remembered famously for his performance in the inaugural IPL season 2008, where he was named the Player of The Tournament and the Most Valuable Player. He played a crucial part in Rajasthan Royals winning the championship under Shane Warne’s captaincy.
  • 472 runs and 17 wickets – Watson was sweltering hot that season.

Be smitten by him https://www.iplt20.com/video/30133

  • IPL 2013 – His blistering 101 off 61 balls (RR vs CSK) , fetched him his maiden century and the Player of the series, though not match winning.
  • Rest your eyes on Watson here https://www.iplt20.com/video/25788
  • IPL 2016 – Soon, embroiled in a match fixing situation RR faced a 2 year ban in 2016 which ensued in Watson joining the RCB for 2 years.
  • What transpired after that is known to all. The most disastrous performances of his life – prompting the pundits to write him off (what with him retiring from International Cricket in the same year!)
  • Forced to be released by RCB Watson was up for auction, where he was taken by CSK. That’s when Watson pulled up his socks marched his way back into the limelight!

IPL 2018 – His performance in 2018 was ok up until the finals. “Comes the occasion, Comes the man” they say as Watson rose from the rubbles of his failure to hit a magnificient century – 117 off 57 balls!.

“He silenced critics who were opining that he didn’t have the mettle to still be part of the IPL caravan “ read a headline. Watch the magician perform calculated surgically precise shots.

https://www.iplt20.com/video/144983

  • IPL 2019 – The final match MI vs CSK. Chennai needing 150 runs to win, it had Watson in the driver’s seat. Unluckily his was runout at 80 runs in 50 balls. Though the match remained alive, CSK lost the finals by 1 run. But what’s memorable is Watson’s tremendous effort to go on despite his injury is commendable.

Watch him play in trousers soaked in blood (giving him 6 stitches later) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-E0QXOnams

Watson’s Individual achievements

  • Watson is the only player to have won the ICC player of the year award in all three formats.
  • He is the only player to win Man of the Tournament award twice in the history of IPL.

On the lighter side…

  • The spooked out Watson – When Australia toured England in 2005, they were put up at the famous Lumley Castle in Durham before a one-day game. Watson supposedly saw the ghost, Lily, which is said to haunt the fort. So scared was he that he spent the night in Brett Lee’s room, sleeping on the floor. The news spread like wildfire and in one of the games, England pacer Darren Gough raised his hands and said, “boo” as he stood close to Watson.

           Take a look  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pCJI-_LHC0

  • The talented boy Watson – Watch Watto steal your heart with a strum of the guitar
  • The positive minded Watson – Watson has played fewer games when compared to Australian cricketers who have been around for 8 years. But Watson has his own take on this.

“I would probably not be the kind of person I am now. The injuries have really tested                                                                      me as a person. I wouldn’t trade the journey I have had for anything because it really turned me into the person and the cricketer I am now.”

That’s all for now folks!

0

“A dark horse, which had never been thought of … rushed past the grand stand in sweeping triumph….”

This was the first time the dark horse term came into existence, in the book from 1831 – The Young Duke. There it literally meant a horse, but in today’s world it could be any person who would surge forward expected winners and become a winner himself/herself.

DREAM11 IPL2020 is a holy ground for all the dark horses of cricket. An opportunity to reveal their talent and win accolades. So let’s look into some more players of this season who are in the big chase.

Travelling from the KXIP team to CSK, Sam Curren made quite the impression in IPL2019. This overseas bowler already has a hat-trick to his name and now with the departure of Suresh Raina, Sam Curren could prove useful as a batsman too down the order.

Jonny Bairstow

This persistant wicketkeeper batsman is the first player to become the 10 highest run getter in the first season (2019). His astounding century alongside David Warner was a treat to watch. Bracketed by colossal players in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, this player has the right potential to become the orange cap holder in DREAM11 IPL2020.

Pat Cummins

He is back from an injury break and back to break some records. The most expensive player to be sold at the IPL 2020 auctions, we have no doubt this man is gonna rise like a phoenix and be a contender for the purple cap in Dream11 IPL2020

Rishabh Pant

This 16 matches old wicketkeeper batsman is full of promise. Narrowly missing out the orange cap in 2018, Rishabh Pant has 1 century and 11 half centuries to his credit. Being the 7th highest run scorer in IPL2019, is he eyeing for the orange cap this season? Why not says DREAM11 IPL2020!

Shreyas Iyer

The youngest captain of IPL, Shreyas Iyer is a very talented person who still hasn’t risen to the ranks of a winner. In 2019 he led Delhi to the play-offs stage, something that did not happen in the last 7 seasons. A sure head on the shoulders and a firm grip on the bat, he is a sure contender for the orange cap in DREAM11 IPL2020.

Well known Players who are treading water : soon to BE ON THE TOP?

Sunil Narine

A very interesting case. Making his entry as a specialist spinner for KKR, he did play a very important role in winning an IPL season for them. But soon was banned for his suspicious bowling action. He soon return with a corrected bowling action but could not do as much damage as before. Change in story –   He is appointed as the opening batsman of KKR and gung-ho! We see terrific hitting with Sunil Narine hitting the second fastest 50! A new avatar! He definitely is the true dark horse in the true spirit of DREAM11 IPL2020!

Yuzavendra Chahal

A very capable spinner whose line and length are impeccable, Chahal has been very important to the RCB team. The last time he was in UAE, he did a good job. This time will he recreate that magic? He has it in him to claim the purple cap and it would be a treat to see him rise up to the occasion in the DREAM11 IPL2020.
