IPL 2020: Highlights of the last 10 seasons of IPL

Overheard at a coffee shop, two friends were reminiscing some recent interesting aspects of IPL. Aha! Now that is called stirring the hornet’s nest! (Well, here in a positive way of course). We immediately thought “How about an article on some of the most interesting and memory arresting events that have occurred in the past decade of IPL seasons?!!!”. A mere mention of this would result in a flurry of recollections in the mind of any IPL lover.

Some might remember fanatic run chases, some might recollect stupendous run outs. Unfathomable catches or enigmatic bowling. The list is absolutely appetizing. So let’s dive into the main course of those interesting facts and memories of IPL (2009-2019).

Teams that have etched their place in our minds

Born in 2008, the IPL has witnessed teams step in and out of this tournament. Some growing into a giant while some disappearing into anonymity. Here are some facts.

The only IPL team to have……

Chennai Super Kings is the only team to have reached the playoffs of every IPL season. They are the only team to have reached the finals 8 times. Out of which they have won 3 and lost 5 of the finals. Will they repeat history in IPL2020 is yet to be seen.

IPL Teams that made the highest totals in the history of IPL

2010 – CSK trampling down the Rajasthan Royals for 246/5

2013 – RCB decimating the Pune Warriors for 263/5

2016 – RCB’s magisterial win over the Gujarat Lions for 248/3

2018 – KKR made “misti doi” out of KXIP for a score of 245/6

IPL Teams that were showed the way to the pavilion too soon

2009 – When Rajasthan (vs RCB) did not seem too royal as they were all out for 58.

2017 – RCB (vs KKR) all out for 49, not much of a challenge there!

2017 – DD (vs MI) went marching out at 66, something they dare not repeat!

2017 – but they did – DD (vs KXIP) again all out at 67.

IPL Teams (batting first) that won with the largest difference of runs

2013 – RCB (vs PW) won by 130 runs (RCB : 263/5)

2015 – RCB (vs KXIP) won by 138 runs (RCB : 226/3)

2016 – RCB (vs GL) won by 144 runs (RCB : 248/3)

2017 – MI (vs DD) won by 146 runs (MI : 212/3)

IPL Teams (batting second) that won with a high run chase : just when you thought the humongous total made by the first team was match winning – along came the spider!

2012 – CSK beat RCB (score made by RCB : 205/8)

2014 – KXIP beat SRH (score made by SRH : 205/5)

2017 – DD beat GL (score made by GL : 208/7)

2018 – CSK beat RCB (score made by RCB : 205/8)

IPL Teams (batting first) defending the lowest scores : when you thought the team playing first was sure to lose – along came the lightning bolt!

2009 – CSK (116/9) contain KXIP at (92/8)

2009 – KXIP (119/8) put the brakes on MI (116/7)

2012 – MI (120/9) defeat PWI (119/6)

2013 – SRH (119/8) defeat PWI (108/10)

2018 – SRH (119/8) halt MI at (87)

And finally…….

The IPL team that has stood 1st in this epic competition

Mumbai Indians : 4 times (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019)

Chennai Super Kings  : 3 times (2010, 2011, 2018)

Kolkata Knight Riders : 2 times (2012, 2014)

Now! Did we just take you on a roller coaster ride of memories? That’s not all, in our next article we shall explore all the memorable records made by individual players of the teams. Till then, Cheers!

IPL 2020 UAE: All You Need To Know About Top Batsmen Of IPL 2020 Part 2

0

So here we are again with the rest of the batsmen we look forward to in the IPL2020. (Refer to our previous Top Batsmen Part 1 article to know who are the ten batsmen we have already spoken about. )

IPL 2020 UAE: All You Need To Know About Top Batsmen Of IPL 2020 Part 1

Sheryas Iyer

Shreyas iyer
Sheryas Iyer

Retained wisely by the Delhi Capitals, Shreyas has qualities to justify his position as the youngest captain. His confidence, neat hitting and impressive strike rate shows the promise he lives up to as a batsman. His batting has improved a lot from the IPL2019 matches to the latest T20 matches against New Zealand.

Shivam Dube

shivam dube
Shivam Dube

The “Five sixes in Five balls” fame boy from the Ranji Trophy 2019, Shivam Dube shows sparks of cool hitting and bowling. He has a long way to go and unveil himself for RCB.

Rohit Sharma

rohit sharma
Rohit Sharma

The undisputed naturally gifted king of batsmen, Rohit Sharma is the best in the world with his records in T20, ODI cricket and World Cup 2019. The more we speak of him, the lesser it is – he has maintained a strike rate of 120+ for the last ten seasons of IPL!

Prithvi Shaw

prithvi shaw
Prithvi Shaw

Having the opportunity of being the youngest player to open in IPL, Prithvi Shaw is yet to live up to his reputation. He shares Tendulkar’s record of scoring a debut century in both Ranjhi and Duleep Trophy. Hoping to see him going blazing guns this season.

Shubman Gill

shubman gill
Shubman Gill

He was the top scorer of U-19 matches for India making him a hot pick in the IPL auction 2018. He has shown his brilliance in IPL2019 and has rightly earned the praise of many cricket pundits. Elegant batting and confidence has earned him a permanent top order batsman spot for the KKR.

Keiron Pollard

keiron pollard
Keiron Pollard

Once a fiery batsman, he had lost his sparks for a while but is now on the path of return. He may not be a hard hitter in the recent but being an all rounder he can make useful contributions in the middle order.

Hardik Pandya

hardik pandya
Hardik Pandya

Someone who can play under pressure, Hardik Pandya has risen to fame quite quickly. He makes for a great middle order batsman (all-rounder). Hitting the fastest fifty last year in the IPL against KKR, the only doubt we have is that he has just recovered from a back operation. Is he up for it in IPL2020 is yet to be seen.

Rishab Pant

rishabh pant
Rishab Pant

An extremely impressive wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Panth is fresh in our memory from IPL2019. His match finishing innings for DC showed the immense talent he has, but here’s wishing more consistency from him as he plays the risky shots quite early.

Shikar Dhawan

shikhar dhawan
Shikar Dhawan

He has been an enigma! We never seem to know when he is going to be exceptional. His performance is outstanding overseas, and when he is in form he is completely unstoppable. Having him is definitely an asset but owing to an injury, he is sure to miss the first half of the IPL2020.

Steve Smith

steve smith
Steve Smith

World no.1 ranked batsman, Steve Smith is as good as Virat Kohli . He has similar live-wire presence on the field and has raised everyone’s hope for RR to do better in IPL2020. His performance here is also crucial for him to earn his spot in his national team (post ban), so the motivation is very high – so are the chances of seeing some very good batting from him.

Simron Hetymer

hetmyer
Simron Hetymer

Now with Delhi Capitals, Hetmyer is a “strokeful” and brave batsman. Another player from the Caribbean – A batsman of the future for West Indies, he captured the hearts of Indians with his ability to hit sixes easily. He was up for grabs for any cost by Delhi Capitals in the auction in 2019 (was released by RCB as he did not live up to their expectations).

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Almost synonymous to CSK, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the backbone of CSK. Though this hard hitting and powerful stroke master is on the wane, being back from a sabbatical might just unleash the powerhouse player in him. Here’s looking for an eventful innings from Dhoni!

Andre Russell

andre russell
Andre Russell

An acclaimed all-rounder who has risen to fame for scoring maximum runs in the death overs, this lower order batsman has a mind boggling strike rate! He is sure to put up some spectacular performance in IPL2020 (if you remember how he stole the match away from RCB in IPL2019)!

We are sure there could be someone else on your mind to add to this list. Well, that is the kind of amazing chaos that an abundance of talent might create!

Signing off, just to catch you later with another interesting aspect of IPL2020.

IPL 2020 UAE: All You Need To Know About Top Batsmen Of IPL 2020 Part 1

0

Not meaning to steal the spotlight from the rest of the players, but when does a cricket match hit the sweet spot in your brain?…. “Tock!” …that sound of the ball knocking on to the bat as if to ask, what are you going to do to me now?!!! The eruption in the stadium as the batsman sends the ball soaring, the thrill of the fans when there has been a run out. Oh, being a batsman in cricket is like being the God of Thunder!

The essence of cricket lies in all aspects of the game but when it comes to power hitting or stylish batting coupled with technique, it seems to bag the award of being the favourite part. Nick names like “Gale”, “Helicopter”, “The Wall” and many more have been bestowed upon batsmen who have created history with their batting shots.

Coming to IPL, this short format of the game is more about the batsmen. A humongous total on the board is enough to send the opposition into a tizzy. In fact, the t20 format has been the platform where hard-hitting took birth with batsmen making unimaginable runs in just a few balls; and IPL has been no stranger to this.

Let’s discuss the top batsman of all the teams IPL2020. Right now we are not predicting who will be the orange cap holder for 2020 as we feel this is the 1st time in the history of IPL that there are so many great clean strikers of the ball performing on one stage. We are at a loss of words praising these batsmen. But, we shall definitely go ahead and assess the capabilities of each of these remarkable batsmen and I request the readers to expect Part 1 and Part 2 of this article.

Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes - IPL 20202 Top Batsmen Player
Ben Stokes

He is in the best form of his life for the last one year. From making runs, to taking wickets, apart from the famous catch at Kia Oval, he won the World Cup and test matches for England almost single handedly. Brimming with confidence he is setting foot into the IPL being tagged the “Sports Personality Of The Year” by the BBC.

Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
Jos Buttler

Vice captain of the England Squad, Buttler is a very gifted stroke player and can be devastating on the pitch. He can score against any bowler as seen in the past in the 2018 IPL.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli

The best batsman in one day and T20 matches. He has the highest aggregate in IPL matches. He is sure to give the best performance for his side and what with the UAE pitches suiting  his batting style.

David Warner

David Warner - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
David Warner

The proof lies in 2019. In the last one year we have seen him score prolifically in all formats of cricket. And what’s more to say – he was the highest scorer in IPL2019.

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
Kane Williamson

The current captain of the New Zealand team, highest scorer of runs in IPL 2018, played well in 2019 world cup for NZ – so any feathers in the hat! He has the surgical precision with which he carries out his shots and that makes him an incredible player!

K.L. Rahul

K.L. Rahul - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
K.L. Rahul

He is the most improved T20 batsman. In 2018, his continuous contribution of runs for the team and again in 2019 with a century and 4 half centuries, he is the one to be followed in IPL2020.

AB’DeVillers

AB'DeVillers - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
AB’DeVillers

We may say he is the most accomplished ODI and T20 player in the world. He is presently not in the form he was before. If he comes back to form with the zeal to win his team atleast one trophy, then we might get to see him play those unorthodox shots again, which had once enthralled the world of cricket fans.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
Chris Gayle

He is undoubtedly the greatest T20 batsman. He has a world record number of 6’s.But gradually bowlers have made out his weaknesses and have started exploiting it. Yet, once he is in form, no other batsman can play with such dominance over the bowlers.

Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow - IPL 2020 Best Batsmen Player
Jonny Bairstow

His maiden centuary in IPL2019 and the first keeper -batsman to do so, Jonny Bairstow seems to be on a mission to destroy bowlers with such precise timings of his shots. But he might miss the first few matches for SRH, owing to his late arrival to the UAE.

Glen Maxwell

Glen Maxwell - IPL 2020 Batsmen Player
Glen Maxwell

Back afresh from a break after missing the IPL2019, Glenn Maxwell is ready to go big guns after his return to wellness. A great striker of the ball, he performed well in the Big Bash and put everyone’s minds at ease. He did well in his previous matches at UAE.

Rearing To Go : The New, Young Faces Of IPL 2020

0

The circle of life – As an old life withers on one end, a new one springs on the other. It is the law of nature and it holds true in all facets of life. The new replaces the old. Time and again youngsters have filled the shoes left empty by the greats we have witnessed over the centuries. In cricket too we see new talent coming afore just as we see some internationally acclaimed heroes retire.

Speaking of youngsters and new talent, IPL has been a great place where talent has been found in the past and continues to do so. Youngsters bought in auctions by teams are making a mark in this league and have been catching the attention of national team managers. Many of these budding players who have proved their mettle in the IPL seem to have found their spot in the Indian national team. IPL has been a platform for aspiring players whose only dream is to don the prestigious INDIAN BLUE.

We often hear the term “uncapped player” in IPL, a player who has not represented his country at the international level in any format of the game. Teams auction and bid on these uncapped players. The reason being, not all the teams in IPL are equipped with “in-form” superstars. Hence they have to rely on the newbies to fill in, to use their vigour and show their talent – to take the world by surprise.

Here are some fresh faces who are the talk of the town :

Surya kumar yadav
Surya Kumar Yadav

Mumbai Indians : Surya Kumar Yadav

“The best of the new lot” read one headline for this young top order batsman. Facing spinners and fast bowlers equally well, he is a game finisher. With a consistent strike rate in the past five years, this talented batsmen is sure to show up.

priyam garg
Priyam Garg

Sunrisers : Priyam Garg

A middle order fine technique batsman with a good strike rate who is the captain of the Under19 team India. With a base price of 20 lakh, a neck-to-neck bidding resulted in this yet-to-debut youngster being bought by SRH for 1.9 crore!

ruturaj gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings :  Ruturaj Gaikwad

By the looks of it, CSK might finish off in style with it’s current 11, but Gaikwad, a consistent go-getter for his state team, is a man of technique, and would serve as a good replacement as an opener. He has managed to impress us in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Virat Singh Was Surprised to See His IPL Bid in the Auction
Virat Singh

Sunrisers : Virat Singh

Clearly a good, aggressive, left handed alternative to Garg. His performance in The Vijay Hazare Trophy and Deodhar Trophy (his 135 runs third wicket partnership) left SRH with no doubts about this lad.

nitish rana
Nitish Rana

Kolkata Knight Riders : Nitish Rana

Batsman – allrounder, a perfect choice to face the ominous spinners that are going to rule this IPL season, what with his allrounder skills. After a bout of failures, Rana picked up during the 2017 IPL helping MI get a quick headstart. Since then he has improved his strike rate every year, thus instilling our and KKR’s confidence in him.

varun chakravartyhy
Varun Chakravarthy

Kolkata Knight Riders :  Varun Chakravarthy

An interesting spinner from South India, he could add value to the bowling pack of the KKR. His fame from the previous years followed him into the bidding rooms of IPL where a vigorous auction ended in him being bought for 8.4 crore by KKR.

IPL 10: It was tough to get into the playing XI, admits Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel

Delhi Capitals :  Harshal Patel

A bowler-allrounder whom the team is more than tempted to use in some of the matches this season. He spent most of his IPL career with Royal Challengers Banglore.

krishnappa gowtham
Krishnappa Gowtham

Kings XI Punjab :  Krishnappa Gowtham

A lower-order Batsman – allrounder who has made a name for himself in domestic cricket. In the last two years this lad has shown promise in the IPL as an all rounder by hitting runs and taking wickets resulting in his journey into the KXIP team for 6.2 crore.

ravi bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi

Kings XI Punjab :  Ravi Bishnoi

Fresh off the shelf, Bishnoi is an extremely valuable “wrist spinner”, keeping in mind the UAE pitches this season of IPL. In the Under-19 World cup, Bishnoi made an impressionable 4-wicket-0-run case in India’s match against Japan.

yashasvi jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal

Rajasthan Royals :  Yashasvi Jaiswal

Now a left handed opening batsman, he once sold pani-puris on the streets of Mumbai. “Teenage prodigy”, “Find of 2019” were the tags he has earned for himself! He is the youngest player to score a double century (The Vijay Hazare Trophy) in List-A cricket followed by another century in the Under-19 Challenger Trophy.

devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal

Royal Challengers Banglore :  Devdutt Padikkal

This fearless opener from Karnataka is a good striker of the ball when allowed to be himself. His consistent performance through the years, right from the Karnataka Premier League, through the Under-19 team India, to the Karnataka Ranjhi Trophy, has won him accolades and the interest of the RCB.

In this bundle of goodies ready to roll out in 2020, Priyam Garg and Yashasvi Jaiswal seem to be the ones we will have to watch out for. Hoping to see them get a chance in the IPL, till then there’s more to come!

IPL 2020: Will RCB Get IPL Title Right This Time?

RCB - IPL Team
RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

RCB, Royal Challengers Bangalore (soon to become Bengaluru we hear), why has this favourite team of ours never managed to win an IPL tournament! The fan following for this team has been epic, yet every year this humongous chunk of cricket lovers are let down. What is it that was not going right for RCB? The choice of players? The players not playing in the right order or not being at their best? Is it the execution of ideas? Is it the spirit of the team?

Every year this team looks formidable on paper, yet crashes out in the league matches. They have time and again been found at the bottom of the entire league. So here we are trying to come to an agreement, as to why this super wagon called RCB has not been able to race to the first.

If we look back two years right from 2018 through 2020, we have made quite a few observations that might point out to where things are going wrong.

  • RCB has always been too dependent on it’s opening batsmen. Relying a bit too much on their performance will only sink their spirits in case tat pair fails to perform.
  • The batting order for RCB has always been loaded on the top. Beyond that they did not have any batsman that could be considered as match finishers. The balance of the order of players never seemed right.
  • A steady combination of batsmen has still not appeared on their team list.
  • Below standard death bowling has plagued RCB for quite a bit. Specialist and dangerous bowlers (Yuzavendra Chahal) finishing their overs quite early in the matches have left the death overs under attack by the opposite team’s batsmen.
  • Bowlers expected to shine have failed to perform. (Umesh Yadav)
  • RCB’s approach in the field has always been of intensity rather than tactics. The focus in such matches should be from ball to ball rather than from over to over. Here’s where RCB needs to find advice.
  • Doubts have been cast on the kind of players being selected, the amount of money being invested seems off balance by RCB investing a lot on one player and then trying to compensate this cost with the rest of the hiring.
  • A lot has been said about how the management depends more on foreign talent and is maybe overlooking abundant local talent around them.
  • Star openers did not get the guns going despite this expensive hiring bout. (McCullum)
  • Some valuable players were let off is also being seen as an expensive mistake.(Chris Gayle)
  • Lately their fielding has earned them the tag of “butter fingers” as they let singles become fours and catches being dropped.
  • Ashish Nehra being made their coach hasn’t made the fans very happy. Maybe he is not the best for them they say.
  • Luck too might have played spoilsport as in the game against Rajasthan in 2019.
  • Last but not the least, Kohli’s captaincy has been rightly criticized by Gautam Gambhir, that he isn’t making the right decisions. Md.Siraj being retained in the team despite him getting hammered by the batsmen is one example.

Why RCB is favourite team this year # IPL 2020 UAE

BUT, 2020 looks a bit brighter for RCB. Including Aaron Finch in the team will definitely add power and inclusion of Hetmyer would bring balance to the middle order. Chris Morris and Dale Steyn in the bowling pack is a welcome change. The fans are now a little relieved that the team is no more (very) dependent on the two main players (Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers) .

So here’s one look into the RCB IPL2020 squad. Hoping to see them shine this time and win IPL 2020 title in UAE!

IPL 2020 UAE: Best Fielders of IPL 2020

0

Who doesn’t fancy a guardian in one’s life, one who can stop things from happening before they go wrong? Well fielders in cricket are like those guardians who make sure the game stays under control. They dive, toss around and chase the ball in order to take catches or prevent the opposite team from scoring runs. Every player in the team, whether he is a batsman or a bowler, has to field. Like they say, a run saved is equal to a run made! Times when fielders were lax on the field have costed their teams dearly.

Catches win matches is a famous quote we hear and in last year’s IPL 2019, we saw some jaw dropping catches being taken by players, fresh off our memory, the list goes like this.

  • KIERON POLLARD (catch of the season award) MI vs CSK, MATCH 15
  • KL RAHUL ( a perfect leap to dismiss Steve Smith) KXIP vs RR, MATCH 4
  • FAF DU PLESSIS (split of a second decision making)  CSK vs RCB, MATCH 39
  • DINESH KARTHIK ( a wicketkeeper covering almost 30mts backwards to take the catch) KKR vs MI, MATCH 56
  • COLIN INGRAM (converting Chris Gayle’s sixer into a dismissal) DC vs KXIP, MATCH 37

Agile on the field, there are players who seem to be able to stop any ball that’s coming their way. Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Hardik Pandya, Glenn Maxwell, Suresh Raina, Ben Stokes – there seems to be a plethora of such talent in every team, where they make a real difference to their side.

Let’s analyse the teams based on the fielding prowess they possess.

(All the teams except Kolkata Knight Riders have some greatest present day fielders)

Chennai Super Kings    :     Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Du’Plessis

IPL 2020: Team That Will Bowl You Over This IPL 2020

0

Don’t we often hear people say “I was bowled over by her performance!!!” or “we were bowled over by his intelligence!!!”? It literally means one was astonished greatly or overwhelmed by something and well, the world owes us cricket fans, this expression. That is the power of a bowler. The sheer control he has on the game. A good bowler can tame even the best batsmen on earth and can make even a small total made by their team seem defendable.

. And the best part about being a bowler is that he always gets to play his part in a match unlike a batsman, who might not get his turn.

As IPL 2020 is fast approaching, here’s our take on the bowlers who are going to show up in UAE, and how! The UAE pitches are dry due to the weather conditions there. They are spinner friendly and the team having a cool, calm and composed death overs bowler, who can get his Yorkers in place will be at an advantage. The teams having all-rounders in addition to the specialist bowlers have another plus point.

So here comes the ranking of teams based on the kind of bowlers and the fame they have garnered in the past. The teams have been ranked from the best bunch down to the least appealing.

No.1 Rank: CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Medium Pace bowlers : Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Lungi Ngidi, Josh Hazlewood

Spinners : Piyush Chawla, Mitchell Santner, Imran Tahir, Harbhajan singh, Karan Sharma

Allrounders : Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina

Now that is one awesome range of bowlers and allrounders.

No.2 Rank: DELHI CAPITALS

Medium pace bowlers : Ishanth Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Chris Wokes, Mohith Sharma, Keemo Paul

Spinners : Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane,

Allrounders :  Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel,

Very good medium pace and spin bowlers but allrounders are average.

No.3 Rank: MUMBAI INDIANS

Medium Pace : Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Bolt, Mitchell McClenaghan, Coulter Nile, Lasith Malinga , Dhawal Kulkarni

Spinners :      Rahul Chahar

Allrounders :  Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Keiron Pollard, Jayanth Yadav

With very good bowlers and allrounders they have the right element of surprise.

NO.4 Rank:  ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Medium Pacers : Dale Steyn, Chris Morris, Kane Richardson, Umesh Yadav, Navadeep Saini

Spinners :    Yuzvendra Chahal, Pavan Negi

Allrounders  :  Moin Ali, Washington Sunder, Shivam Dube

Good medium pace and spinners but the allrounders are not great.

No.5  Rank: Kings X1 PUNJAB

Medium Pacers : Chris Jordan, Mohammad Shami

Spinners   :    Murugan Ashwin

Allrounders  :  Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cortell, Chris Gayle, J. Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham

Awesome allrounders, good medium pacers but only one specialist spinner.

No.6 Rank: SUN RISERS HYDERABAD

Medium Pacers  : Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mitchell Marsh, Billy Stanlake, Siddharth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed , Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi

Spinners  :    Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem

Allrounders   :   Mohammad Nabi, Vijay Shanker

Excellent medium pacers, good spinners but weak allrounders

N0.7 Rank: KOLKATTA NIGHT RIDERS

Medium pacers  :  Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna

Spinners :   Kuldip Yadav, Sunil Naraine, Pravin Thambe, Varun Chakravarty

Allrounders   :  Andrew Russel

Good medium pacers, good spinners but only one allrounder.

No.8 Rank:  RAJASTHAN ROYALS

Medium Pacers  :   Jofra Archar, Oshane Thomas, Varun Arun, Andrew Tye, Jaidev Unadkat

Spinners    :      Mayank Markande

Allrounders   :     Ben Stokes , Shreyas Gopal

Medium pacers are just ok and they have only one genuine spinner and one allrounder.

Each team has one magical player who can turn the tables on any predictions made. One particular bowler’s splendid innings or one allrounder’s surprise attack could take all of us by surprise, ya?

We will see you soon with a discussion about such magical players.Cheers!

IPL 2020 UAE: Analysis of the IPL Teams That Will Be Pitting Against Each Other

Now that we know the IPL 2020 is finally slated to take off on September 19th, let’s start our analysis of the IPL teams that will be pitting against each other. Has the change of venue swayed the match in favour of some teams? Has the player balance of each team come to the rescue or has it proven a disadvantage for the teams at this new venue? Well here’s our take.

To begin with UAE is not home ground and hence becomes a neutral venue for all teams. None of the teams are very familiar with it’s pitches. UAE crickets grounds are famous for being bigger and have spinner friendly pitches. There is not much bounce in it nor much pace. Moreover the dry pitches of UAE will make for high scoring matches as it is favourable to batsmen.

Spinners and medium pacers will have a good bowling spree on these pitches. Spinners could lead the attack and medium pacers pitching at the right spot could prove beneficial. That’s good news for teams that have invested in spinners and medium pacers. Also teams having allrounders are at an advantage. Power batting would be required to cover these huge grounds. These UAE pitches will require good technique in players and hence the best team with good technique will shine.

IPL 2020 UAE Ranks
IPL 2020 UAE: Analysis of the IPL Teams That Will Be Pitting Against Each Other 41

We have analysed all the teams keeping in mind the above-mentioned points and we have come up with a list of teams that we feel have an upper edge over some teams( that are not well equipped to meet the challenge). Here they are :

1. Chennai Super Kings

CSK has batsmen like M.S.Dhoni, Rayadu, Murali Vijay, Kedar Jadav  and Suresh Raina. With formidable bowlers like Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Piyush Chawla, Shardul Thakur and allrounder Ravidra Jadeja, CSK is a top class team.

2. Delhi Capitals

DC has batsmen like Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishab Pant and bowlers like Ishanth Sharma, Mohith Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin , Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane places them among the top favourable teams.

3. Kings XI Punjab

KXIP has batsmen like K.L.Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Mandeep Singh, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan alongside bowlers like Mohhamad Shami and allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham helps them stay among the top teams

Mumbai Indians

MI has batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Ishant Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav accompanied by bowlers like J.Bumrah, D.Kulkarni, Rahul Chahar and allrounders Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jayanth Yadav give them enough scope to climb up the rankings ladder.

Royal Challengers

RCB has batsmen has V.Kohli, Partiv Patel, Shahbaz Ahmad, Gurukreet Manas with  bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Yuzavendra Chahal, Navadeep Saina, Mohammad Siraj have to show up and perform in order to pull this team up.

Kolkotta Knight

KKR has batsmen like Dinesh Karthik, Shubham Gill, Nitesh Rana, Rahul Tripathi And bowlers like Kuldip Yadav, Pravin Thambe, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarty and allrounders—NIL. So we have to wait for the matches to begin to see what they have up their sleeves.

Rajasthan Royals

RR, the team from the pink city, donned in pink uniforms has batsmen like Sanju Samson, Manan Vohra, Robin Uttappa and bowlers like Varon Arun, Jadav Unadkat, Mayank Markande, with allrounders—NIL. Again we must await the commencement of the matches to see tables turn!

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH has batsmen W.Saha, Manish Pandey, Abhishek Sharma and bowlers like Bhuvuneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Shahbaz Nadeem ,Khaleel Ahmed, Basi Thampi, Sandeep Sharma and allrounder Vijay Shanker.

IPL 2020: UAE Team Discuss in Depth

We shall discuss these teams in depth in our forthcoming articles to see which teams have the fire to give us surprises and only the matches will reveal who the dark horse of IPL 2020 is.

Looking forward to see you all again!

Sunrisers hyd have buuvaneshwar and kaul rashid khan nabi Hitting shots on such slow pitches and combined with big grounds and slower outfields will be more of power than timing.

To maintain the pitch as well as the outfield under the hot and humid conditions of Dubai isn’t easy.

We in Dubai international stadium have prepared pitches with clay imported from Pakistan so we try and keep the characteristics the same way it would be in Pakistan.

IPL 2020: UAE Statdium review

Criteria to be kept in mind are

  1. Dry pitches in UAE
  2. Pitches will be batting favourable wickets.
  3. Spinners will be very effective, next the medium pacers and lastly the pace bowlers. The team with more spinners and medium pacers are at an advantage.
  4. As 4 overseas players are allowed in a team, mostly 2 batsmen and 2 bowlers. The rest of the team is made of Indian squad 7 players,2 batsmen,Captain,Wicket keeper and 3 bowlers.Exception being a captain or wicket keeper being overseas player
  5. Hence the teams having top Indian players as 4 to 6, bowlers  and batsmen in a team will have an advantage,as the players can get enough rest in between matches.
  6. The teams having talented young players have an advantage as atleast 3 youngsters  will be given a chance to play every match.
  7. The teams having more Indian alrounders are at an advantage.
  8. The team having 2 very good wicket keepers has an advantage when the main wicket keeper is being rested or injured

Expected winning chances

Accordingly the expected winning chances of teams are

  1. Chennai Super Kings
  2. Delhi Capitals.
  3. Kings XI Punjab
  4. Mumbai Indians
  5. Royal Challengers,Bangalore.
  6. Kolkata Knight Riders.
  7. Rajasthan Royals
  8. Sunrisers Hyderabad

The overseas players of all teams are among the best in the world hence this factor is nearly neutral.

All other positions are clear except  the 7 and 8 position between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad . Sunrisers have a very good bowlers but Rajanthan have Stokes,Steve Smith ,J.Archer ,best players in the world in their team and Sunrisers have D.Warner,K.Williamson,and J.Bairstow.Equally balanced teams but difficult to predict who will perform well.

The latest news is that W.I players will not play a few matches initially because of their commitment for CPL and few other players S.Smith,D.Warner will miss first few matches. But finally results wlll depend on the player’s performance on that day which is unpredictable.
