Indian selector rubbished reports of possible rifts between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli: Team India’s chief selector Chetan Sharma in his recent media interaction quashes reports of a possible rift between new Indian white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma and the red ball skipper Virat Kohli. The selector asserted that both the cricketers are enjoying and are on healthy terms with each other.

Lately, team India has undergone quite a few changes due to which the things between the duo were reported not to be fine. A few reports to some extent claimed that it was Virat Kohli who wanted Rohit Sharma to get sacked as team India’s vice-captain, however, in return the cricket board dismissed Virat from his roles and appointed Sharma as the new captain, which apparently isn’t true by any sense.

Chetan Sharma rubbished all the speculations and said that things are fine and both have great respect and share a good camaraderie.

Talking about the speculations and rumours revolving around Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Chetan Sharma said: “But about what? Things are absolutely fine. That’s why I was saying don’t go by speculations. We’re all cricketers first and selectors later. There is nothing between them,” Chetan Sharma was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo.

He further said that people make up really fun things for the two of them, but the relationship between Kohli and Rohit are absolutely sound.

“Sometimes I read reports about them and laugh. I’m telling you there is such good planning between them about the future. Things are fantastic. If you were in my place, you would have enjoyed watching how these guys are working together as a team and family and a unit.

Chetan Sharma, then, urged the fans to leave behind all the controversies and initiate talks on how to make team India a more formidable outfit in 2022.

“It’s really saddening when people make up things like that. So please, leave controversies behind in 2021. Let’s talk about how to make them the best team,” he added.
