Indian T20I squad touring Ireland will play the 1st T20I against England as well: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly planning to field the Hardik Pandya-led Indian T20I squad, that toured Ireland, for the opener T20I against England.
The chairman of selectors, Chetan Sharma has reportedly opted to give time (three days) to the senior players for a few days to make a switch to the shorter formats after the rescheduled fifth test match in Edgbaston. The squad that toured Ireland will play out the first T20I against England on July 7.
While the senior members were preparing for the one-off rescheduled test match against England, starting July 1, a second-string Indian team was named to tour Ireland for the two matches T20I series. Young Hardik Pandya was appointed as the captain of the side, who led India to a clean sweep in two close fixtures.
โThe squad that played T20I series in Ireland will remain in the first T20I and then from the second T20I, all the stars (Rohit, if fit, Kohli, Bumrah, Pant, Jadeja) will make a comeback. Once, they are well rested, all of them will be a part of the regular white ball side but most of the players in Ireland will remain till the end of the T20I series,โ a source said according to The New Indian Express.
