The Indian Team for Asia Cup 2022 has been finally announced. The only major takeaways from the announced squad are the facts that Virat Kohli, who was rested is back on the team and Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament with a back injury. The other noticeable changes are that Yuzvendra Chahal is back in the squad after his period of rest and Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Hooda have been rewarded for their performances. Here is our prediction of the playing XI that will play the game against Pakistan on the 28th of August:
1) Rohit Sharma (C) will lead the Indian Team:
Rohit Sharma will be leading India for the second time at the Asia Cup. He did it once in 2018 just before the ICC 2019 ODI World Cup. Sharma will be keen on giving the team a great start and winning this tournament outright.
2) KL Rahul (VC) will open for the Indian Team:
KL Rahul, the comeback man will have to prove his worth. There is a word around the fact that Rahul must not be directly given the chance in such a crucial multi-national tournament, but the pundits can keep their punditry to themselves. KL Rahul is a player of class and when it comes to performing in big games, he does that with conviction.
3) Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli is the glue that will bind all these rockstars together. In a team with the flamboyance of Rishabh Pant, with the power of Hardik, and with the class of KL, you need some experience and Virat has a hell lot of it. Virat is second on the list of top run-getters in international T20s. This speaks volumes of the immense potential, this proven legend has.
4) Rishabh Pant (WK):
Rishabh Rajendra Pant is waiting to say that he has got what it takes. His performances in T20 are decent. At times the numbers may seem below average. But if someone can scare the opposition by the mere presence on the field, it is Rishabh Pant.
5) Suryakumar Yadav will play in the Middle Order for the Indian Team:
Surya is certain in the team. He is currently the highest-rated Indian batter by the ICC. He is at No. 2 in the world T20 rankings.
6) Hardik Pandya:
Hardik Pandya has made a comeback and brought along with him a lot of balance to the team. He is a bank of 3 to 4 great overs.
7) Ravindra Jadeja Will be the Finisher for the Indian Team:
Ravindra Jadeja is another all-rounder who adds to the balance of the team. Jadeja and his batting have been on the rise since 2018. He will effectively fill the shoes of the bowling all-rounder.
8) Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
The “Sultan of Swing”, Bhuvi will have a lot on his shoulders in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
9) Avesh Khan:
This new prospect has been rewarded for his great performances over the past few series. The Indian team management strongly backs this talented youngster.
10) Yuzvendra Chahal:
Yuzi Chahal, the spin wizard needs no introduction. He is India’s most successful bowler in T20Is.
11) Arshdeep Singh Will be Death Over Specialist for the Indian Team:
The surprise addition to the Indian squad, Arshdeep Singh has been chosen because he is a left-arm pacer and can effectively replace the death bowling of Bumrah. He has shown exceptional performances in the recent games against the West Indies.
